Description

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in New Paltz - 7 Marron Lane

4 bedrm * 2 1/2 bath * summer house * endless pool * bocce * batting cage

Enjoy a private getaway atop a hill under the beautiful Shawangunk cliffs (the Gunks!). While many outdoor adventures, biking the carriage roads, climbing the cliffs, hiking through the Mohonk Preserve, are only a mile or two away, you also have a vast array of 'toys' and things to do without ever leaving the property !. Enjoy a game of lawn chess or relaxing bocce ball/horseshoes. Have the kids build their own mini golf course with the movable obstacles or spend some of that extra energy in your own batting cage with a pitching machine ready to challenge you. Perhaps you want to take a leisurely swim in the endless pool or train for the upcoming triathlon with a mile long swim! As a labor of love, i have just completed a separate summer house with an outdoor kitchen which is just perfect for on-deck grilling, entertaining or as a teenager's den.

The home sleeps seven comfortably in the main house with a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen bed available in two additional bedrooms and a twin daybed in the den. The summer house has a full-size futon which could accommodate a further two more people.

I put considerable time and energy providing a safe and fun-filled environment for my son and his friends.

My goal is that everyone will enjoy my 'home in the hills' so much that they will want to come back year after year. I have also hired a superintendent, Mark who is local and helped me build the home. He is on call 24/7 if there are any issues with the house or if you need help on explaining how everything works.

Please note:

The batting cage is closed from October 31 - March 31 for winter safety reasons.

The endless pool is closed from December 1 - March 31 as it is located in th "Summer House" which is not heated.

About Lynn Riehl

I bought this home in 2001 as an avid rock climber living in Manhattan. Fast forward a decade and I now live in Connecticut with my 10 year old. I rennovated the house for us to make the most of with our friends, but with the baseball season, soccer, friends and a boat.... There are weeks in the summer where it is available for others to enjoy !

Lynn Riehl purchased this house in 2001

Why Lynn Riehl chose Hudson Valley

This property was bought to be our home and a get away for kids and adults! I fell in love with the view and the proximity to the cliffs. Many times I have walked to the base of the cliffs from my home to go rock climbing. For many years, this home was the hub to many friends and climbers. This is definitely the place for discerning, active groups. There is so much to do here that a week will never feel like enough and the house is well kitted out with all the modern amenities and fittings you would expect and has a very relaxing, homely feel to it.

What makes this house unique

The New Paltz / Hudson Valley area is absolutely beautiful and an outdoor enthusiast's playground! I've wanted to create a place where kids could wake up and spend their energy outdoors while the adults were leisurely making their coffee. There are many areas for families to gather or for adults and children to separate. There are three outdoor seating areas: One by the batting cage to watch the batters try their hand at hitting. A second patio near the bocce ball with a fire pit and the best view of the gunks around! A fantastic place for the adults! And a third - more private seating area off the outdoor kitchen. on the wooden deck facing the woods.

The main home was just renovated to bring he view of the cliffs inside! All bathrooms have been updated as walk-in showers and I added an outdoor shower attached to the home to provide warm water too! The master bedroom has a king bed and an in-suite bathroom. The other side of the home has three bedrooms - two with queen beds and one with a twin daybed. There are two open living areas each with it's own fireplace - one has gas and the other is wood burning.

There is also a separate summer house with a connected outdoor kitchen under a lean-to. This separate home has an additional 1200 sq feet divided into two areas. The main room is a large open room with plenty of dining and entertaining. The other room houses the endless pool - which will provide endless hours of entertain for adults and children alike!

Since I have owned this home, I have had the same super work on all the jobs needed around the house. I have hired him to be available to you in case of any issues or emergencies. Have piece of mind that help is always around the corner.

We had a great moms weekend away at this house. We hiked and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors, really enjoyed the shopping and restaurants in New Paltz and were very comfortable cooking and socializing in the great space of the house. Thank you for making everything so seamless and for a memorable Fall weekend away!

GREAT HOUSE and location! Very accommodating host and home with all the amenities.

From the bacci court to the card table, from the location to the availability of the care taker this property is EXCELLENT!

This was our second time staying at this location by choice. The proximity to the best Gardiner and New Paltz have to offer. and The warm comfortable house and furnishings are the absolute awesome. We have been renting homes to travel to his area for 25 years and this is our number one pick.

The perfect picture windows to the cliffs and nature and the fire places are wonderful to come back to after a great day of climbing / hiking and dining at the Brau Haus.

If you can book it, do it. What ever you need is provided or near by.

Beautiful property - highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

Lynn's house was perfect. We were four adults and a toddler and everyone had an amazing time. We enjoyed the many facilities - the batting cage, endless swimming pool, giant chess, playing bocce ball, horseshoes, telescope, watching movies - there are endless forms of entertainment here, I could go on. The layout was great with two wings for privacy - one door leading to a hallway in the back with three bedrooms and a shared bath, and the master bedroom located all the way on the other side of the house by the entrance. It really gave a lot of privacy to everyone (which is very needed when traveling with a family and a toddler!). The house was also well stocked with games, puzzles, movies, books, and misc. condiments for cooking (including everything needed for making s'mores!). The towels and linens provided were ample and there's even a laundry room if needed. There was clearly a lot of thought put into making this property into a private retreat.

The location is also great; just 5-10 minutes to town, the mountains, wineries, farm stands, and restaurants. The mountain is so close to the property you could actually hear the climbers calling to each other in the distance. The view of the Gunks from the yard was breathtaking, and super relaxing to watch the sun set while relaxing by the fire pit.

The caretaker, Mark, was amazing - very responsive and friendly. He showed us around the property when we arrived, answering all of our questions and making sure we were comfortable. He really went above and beyond in making sure our stay was a positive one.

I've had mixed experiences renting properties in the past but I can honestly say our stay with Lynn was flawless from start to finish. Thank you, Lynn and Mark!

Wonderful place with so many fun activities

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. This was during our wedding weekend and we needed a place for the wedding party to stay. We ended up loving everything about the house. The house was beautiful and had a great view of the 'Gunks, not to mention a centralized location for where we needed to be in New Paltz. We loved the batting cage and swimming pool. Overall it was a fantastic choice and definitely helped make our wedding weekend such a magical time.

Relax warm weekend

Another great weekend at the New Paltz home. I have rented this home back in October and I can say I enjoy it more during the summer time. Will rent again for sure.
