Yes, Life is Good at Mountain Breeze River Chalet.
The cabin itself is nice. You'll seem to be all alone. It could be rated 5 stars. When we first walked into the cabin we thought "oh wow, this is nice". Then started noticing little items that need repaired or replaced. Things I would have overlooked except for the beds and the owners response to a renter. I read all the reviews before renting this cabin. In a review dated 27 AUGUST 2015 a renter stated the only thing she would change was the mattresses, that one sagged & the box spring kept falling out of the other. A YEAR LATER ON 30 August 2016 a renter stated the mattresses are pretty old & saggy. THE OWNER RESPONSE to this renter was, and I quote..."The queen is a new Tempur-Pedic only 5 months old." We looked from the loft to the basement & never found a new queen Tempur-Pedic. The queen bed on the main floor is a old Sterns & Foster with a topper & slats under the frame that KEPT FALLING OUT. The full bed in the basement has to be 10 yrs old because there is a PERMANENT SAG IN THE MIDDLE. We only stayed two nights. Had actually considered trying to stay a third night but because the beds made us both miserable we decided against it.
The HOT TUB...we did use it both nights, smelled of way too much chlorine. We've owned a hot tub for 12 yrs. I understand this is a rental, but putting so much chlorine in a hot tub that it gave us a chemical burn after just two days, yes a CHEMICAL BURN, but the stars were lovely.
The sliding screen door to the deck & hot tub needs repaired or replaced, was very difficult to slide & there was a giant tear in the screen at the bottom. Which meant we couldn't leave the screen open due to bugs.
The switch back path down to the fire pit needs the bushes TRIMMED. It was so overgrown that it was difficult to get safely down to the pit.
Once at the pit make sure you're prepared to stay cause it's a long hard path back up. There was PLENTY OF FIREWOOD. Thank you.
Perhaps a rake down by the pit also to help keep area safely clean of debris.
The kitchen faucet leaked CONTINUALLY.
On a much lighter note. These are things that could easily be repaired & make this a five star rated cabin. I wish I could have given it 5 stars. I've rented from VRBO for over 15 yrs & this is the worst review I've had to give MAINLY because the OWNER SAID THERE WAS A NEW BED & THERE WAS NOT.
We loved our weekend at Mountain Breeze! It was wonderfully secluded and really gave us a chance to unplug from life. The cabin is as delightfully "rustic" as you can get with a full kitchen, gas fireplace and hot tub. We also really appreciated being able to bring our pup along - Diggs loved walking by the river and laying by the fire!! Our only small disappointment was discovering no gas tank in the grill when we went to cook dinner. Thanks again for sharing this special property!
My wife and I spent Labor Day weekend at this beautiful chalet celebrating our 1 year anniversary, and we had a wonderful stay! We enjoyed the fire pit, the gorgeous river views, and the state-of-the-art hot tub especially. The kitchen was well stocked, so we were able to prepare all of our meals at the cabin. There was plenty of firewood for the fire pit, and we were pleased to find flashlights and matches in the closet. The pictures in the listing cannot convey the beauty of the property. We watched shooting stars amidst an amazing soundtrack of tree frogs, crickets, and cool breezes. We intend to return, and we highly recommend this home!!
Really beautiful home, well-located for canoeing, hiking, etc. Short drive to amenities/stores for supplies. If I had one complaint it would be that the mattresses are pretty old and saggy, we both had pretty sore backs by the end of the week. Small price to pay, and the Jacuzzi helps.
It was a wonderful experience at the cottage. Our first time ever in Shenandoah and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Peaceful setting. Waking up to the sounds of nature is incomparable. The views from the living room are breathtaking. Thank you Debbie and Roger for letting us use your cottage.
We had such a nice time at this property. The view was incredible, and it was so nice to hear the river nearby. Definitely a great place to get away from everything and enjoy nature. Thanks so much!!
Mountain Breeze is located in the midst of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Just 15 minutes away from downtown Luray where you can visit the famous Luray Caverns, walk the Greenway, shop our great downtown area, and have lunch or dinner in one of our incredible restaurants. You are just a short drive to the Skyline Drive, and to Massanutten Ski Resort, which is a year round resort with fun activities for the entire family.
Or you can just sit back and relax on the best deck ever
and enjoy your favorite beverage while overlooking the river and mountains. If fishing is your fancy well your at the right place. Just walk on down to the river and throw out that line. Enjoy roasting marshmallows in the cool evening around the fire pit by the river.
After a busy day of sightseeing or a lazy day on the deck
Finish your day with a dip in the hot tub and you'll be ready for a great night sleep.
