What a beautiful place. So relaxing, really enjoyed the tranquility of the cabin and its setting. Highly recommended!!! We had the opportunity to chat with the owners by e-mail and they were the friendliest people. If you get the chance you should book this home away from home. We hope to be back soon.

Perfect birthday weekend!

  • 4 of 5

Very nice accommodations! Roger addressed the spa and bed comments found on the website ahead of accepting my reservation request; we were not disappointed! There were plenty of the small items one would normally have to bring themselves, including a Keurig machine. The hot tub was warm and refreshing, especially during the overcast weather while listening to the sounds of the nearby river in the darkness. Had to drive in to Luray for CP reception, which was just the ticket for a weekend getaway. We will definitely consider another visit in the near future!

This was a fantastic getaway. My husband and I with our two dogs enjoyed our stay very much. All of your Basic Essentials were provided the best part is the coffee maker. Almost a 10-minute Drive off of the main road and you feel absolutely secluded and at peace. The supermarket wasn't far at all and we grilled almost every night. The hot tub at night gazing up at the millions of stars was mesmerizing. The wonderful wholesome decor and quiet was something we enjoyed very much. The property is beautiful and breathtaking the mountains and Wildlife are gorgeous. We went to the Luray Caverns which I would strongly recommend you see they're absolutely beautiful. And the drive of skyline in the Shenandoah National Park is worth the drive and the hiking is wonderful. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. On our last day it snowed and it made it even more beautiful I didnt even think that was possible. Thank you for the wonderful getaway

Wonderful place

  • 4 of 5

My husband, 3 year old daughter and I stayed for almost a week. It was pretty much exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful views, out of the way but still close enough to make an easy grocery store run and sounds of the river. No cell service, no internet but there was satellite TV so we could watch the football game. Almost "off the grid". That was perfect. The fire pit isn't out the back door and it's a walk down and up a steep hill (with plenty of stairs) to start a campfire and go fishing but again, the view it offered was fantastic. I thought the towels and blankets were rather thin but the cabin was very warm. The heat ran very well and the temperature could easily be adjusted between the furnace and gas fireplace. There were plenty of coloring books and crayons as well as some children's movies to choose from which my daughter very much enjoyed. She was delighted to encounter some "cows on the loose!" It's farm country and a small band of cows was wandering the private road for a few days. We'd encounter them driving in and out and they came through the yard one day. We were careful and respectful but it's not something we see see often living in the city. The hot tub was great on chilly mornings, building a fire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows is good for the soul and I couldn't get enough of the scenery around the cabin as well as driving to and from local attractions such as wineries and the Luray Caverns. We cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner which we ate at the table in front of the fireplace and under the stars.

The cabin itself is nice. You'll seem to be all alone. It could be rated 5 stars. When we first walked into the cabin we thought "oh wow, this is nice". Then started noticing little items that need repaired or replaced. Things I would have overlooked except for the beds and the owners response to a renter. I read all the reviews before renting this cabin. In a review dated 27 AUGUST 2015 a renter stated the only thing she would change was the mattresses, that one sagged & the box spring kept falling out of the other. A YEAR LATER ON 30 August 2016 a renter stated the mattresses are pretty old & saggy. THE OWNER RESPONSE to this renter was, and I quote..."The queen is a new Tempur-Pedic only 5 months old." We looked from the loft to the basement & never found a new queen Tempur-Pedic. The queen bed on the main floor is a old Sterns & Foster with a topper & slats under the frame that KEPT FALLING OUT. The full bed in the basement has to be 10 yrs old because there is a PERMANENT SAG IN THE MIDDLE. We only stayed two nights. Had actually considered trying to stay a third night but because the beds made us both miserable we decided against it.

The HOT TUB...we did use it both nights, smelled of way too much chlorine. We've owned a hot tub for 12 yrs. I understand this is a rental, but putting so much chlorine in a hot tub that it gave us a chemical burn after just two days, yes a CHEMICAL BURN, but the stars were lovely.

The sliding screen door to the deck & hot tub needs repaired or replaced, was very difficult to slide & there was a giant tear in the screen at the bottom. Which meant we couldn't leave the screen open due to bugs.

The switch back path down to the fire pit needs the bushes TRIMMED. It was so overgrown that it was difficult to get safely down to the pit.

Once at the pit make sure you're prepared to stay cause it's a long hard path back up. There was PLENTY OF FIREWOOD. Thank you.

Perhaps a rake down by the pit also to help keep area safely clean of debris.

The kitchen faucet leaked CONTINUALLY.

On a much lighter note. These are things that could easily be repaired & make this a five star rated cabin. I wish I could have given it 5 stars. I've rented from VRBO for over 15 yrs & this is the worst review I've had to give MAINLY because the OWNER SAID THERE WAS A NEW BED & THERE WAS NOT.

Owner's Response: Please accept our sincere apology. We have been relying on maintenance workers to maintain the cabin. Obviously we haven't stayed on top of things enough. After the last bed complaint we authorized the workers to replace the queen bed, and were told, and thought we paid for a Tempurpedic. After discussion we are told it was supposed to "be like" a Tempurpedic. It falls back to if you want it done correctly, do it yourself. I am going to purchase two quality beds that I will personally select myself. The hot tub will be drained and refilled again and tested. We used Bromine as the primary chemical and I can only assume a previous guest may have adjusted the Bromine floater. When I tested the water it did not test on the high side for Bromine. Please accept our sincere apology and know we are fixing the other maintenance issues.

Beautiful views!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our weekend at Mountain Breeze! It was wonderfully secluded and really gave us a chance to unplug from life. The cabin is as delightfully "rustic" as you can get with a full kitchen, gas fireplace and hot tub. We also really appreciated being able to bring our pup along - Diggs loved walking by the river and laying by the fire!! Our only small disappointment was discovering no gas tank in the grill when we went to cook dinner. Thanks again for sharing this special property!

Mountain Breeze is located in the midst of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Just 15 minutes away from downtown Luray where you can visit the famous Luray Caverns, walk the Greenway, shop our great downtown area, and have lunch or dinner in one of our incredible restaurants. You are just a short drive to the Skyline Drive, and to Massanutten Ski Resort, which is a year round resort with fun activities for the entire family.

Or you can just sit back and relax on the best deck ever

and enjoy your favorite beverage while overlooking the river and mountains. If fishing is your fancy well your at the right place. Just walk on down to the river and throw out that line. Enjoy roasting marshmallows in the cool evening around the fire pit by the river.

After a busy day of sightseeing or a lazy day on the deck

Finish your day with a dip in the hot tub and you'll be ready for a great night sleep.
