Pretty wooden chalet in small hamlet just below the main village of Champagny, four minutes to the cable car by car or a ten minute walk. There is a free bus service to and from the cable car. There is plenty of free parking both at the chalet and at the cable car. The chalet has a large terrace with good views of the mountains. There is a washing machine in the basement. Fully furnished. Linen is included.Wifi is free with a strong signal.Wood for the log burner is free. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the village.
There is skiing in the Paradiski area for all levels. Champagny has its own ski school and there are plenty of beginners slopes close to the top of the telecabine. There is some awesome off piste skiing for advanced skiers. Champagny le haut has a large area of nordic skiing. There are flights to Lyon, Geneva, Grenoble and Chambery. The following are links to bus companies who will meet flights: thecoolbus.co.uk, alp-line.com,
skihoppa.com, alpinecab.com, satobus.com. As well as hire cars at the airport, there is an Avis office at Moutiers train station.
There are lots of mountain restaurants but one of our favourites is Verdons Sud which has a huge fireplace for cold days and a vast terrace for sunny days. The panoramic views from L'Inversons are wonderful. If you can find your way to La Plagne 1800 then Petit Chaperon Rouge is a treat and not to be missed.
Lots of the restaurants provide an area for picnickers.
We are Londoners who have always loved skiing and hiking. We chose to buy in Champagny because it is a genuine two season resort with as much to do in summer as in winter. No tour groups come to Champagny and there are very few hotels. Most people rent chalets.
Sarah Radcliffe purchased this chalet in 2006
We had intended to buy an apartment but could not resist the lure of a 'fixer-upper'. We turned the chalet from a 12 person, tiny reception room into a generous sized 8 person property. The bedrooms are small but adequate and the reception/kitchen area is lovely.
The chalet is perfect for two families with two children each. There are lots of board games and books. The television receives all the English freesat channels. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a slow cooker, hot stone and gas barbeque for the summer. You can climb up the rock behind the house and have wonderful views to the Vanoise Glacier and Courchevel.
Dear Mark and Sarah,
We had a really lovely Christmas in your charming chalet. I'm so glad we stayed in Champagny, as it was so pretty, traditional and friendly. We were extremely lucky with the snow but most of all it was your chalet and all your help which made the greatest contribution to our all enjoying an unforgettable Christmas.

Dear Mark and Sarah
We had a fantastic time staying in your lovely chalet. It was clean, cosy, charmingly decorated, perfect for our family ski holiday. Champagny is a great resort for families. We would love to come and stay again and will definitely be recommending your chalet to others.

We have just spent a fantastic week in Chalet Gentiane. The chalet was really clean and in great condition. The living room was big and comfortable and kitchen facilities were excellent. T.V with all the English channels was a great addition to. We loved Champagny and although the chalet was just a little way out of town it was really easy to catch a free shuttle bus or drive up to the ski station.
Sarah the owner was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any queries many thanks. Overall I would recommend this chalet and this resort to anyone.

It was lovely to see an alpine resort in the summer and the pretty village of Champagny en Vanoise had the bonus of being not just a tourist resort. There were many locals who lived in the village all year round.
The owners had kindly given us some information on a number of walking trails where the wild flowers and scenery were spectacular.
The chalet was spotlessly clean, very stylishly decorated and equipped to a very high standard.
We made use of the tennis court just below the chalet and also the public outdoors swimming pool which was heated and had stunning views of the mountains.
We would highly recommend this chalet and look forward to another visit.
We had a wonderful time at Champagny en Vanoise. This nice and cosy Chalet is very well located. Its fully equiped with everything you may need for a long or short holiday. Internet connection was also very good.
Nice leaving room area for everyone to join in the evenings.
Sarah, the owner of the chalet, was very helpful with every detail.
A fantastic experience we strongly recomend it!
This was our third visit to Chalet Gentaine and hopefully not our last! We were 6 this year as my younger daughters boyfriend joined our party. We had a wonderful time very relaxing and although the snow was a little sparse to begin with that didn't stop us skiing, there was enough snow up the mountain and we got a "top up" on Christmas day!!! Plenty of sunshine and lovely food, we didn't want to leave! Hopefully we will be back.

Champagny en Vanoise is a traditional French village with old farms and good food shops. 'As ski villages go Champagny is about as attractive as you are ever likely to find' Time Out 2006. The skiing in the La Plagne area is wonderfully varied and reliable. You can also drive to Courchevel in 20 minutes. Champagny is very close to Bozel and Moutiers which have good shopping facilities. It is perfectly placed on the edge of the Vanoise National Park.
British Airways and Easyjet fly to Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble which are all about two hours from the village, and there are also flights to Chambery which is much closer. The Vanoise National Park provides some wonderful trails for walking in the summer. There are waterfalls, wild life and beautiful flowers. Throughout the mountains there are refuges where you can stay overnight if you decide to do one of the major walks. In the summer there is white water rafting, quad biking, mountain biking and swimming all within a short distance.
Golf: There are golf courses in Courchevel 1850 and Meribel
Ski: For full details of the skiing and all the other facilities that Champagny has to offer go to www.champagny.com. You can ski the whole of the Paradiski - La Plagne and Les Arcs and The Three Valleys is a short drive away.
