Toes In The Sand is a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy a peaceful, private beach vacation with everything you need. Cape San Blas is the kind of place that almost doesn't exist anymore; safe, peaceful and tranquil. We want to make sure you enjoy your stay here.
The owners of Toes In The Sand live in Atlanta, Ga and love spending time at the beach with family and friends.
Joyce Hunt purchased this house in 2001
We discovered Cape San Blas in the mid 1990's while visiting family vacationing there. We fell in love with the area's natural setting. Quiet, uncrowded and one of the most beautiful beaches we had seen. We returned for several years and when the house we had been renting went up for sale we couldn't resist buying our little piece of paradise.
We stayed with two of our adult children and their spouses and enjoyed ourselves. The location is great; it is only a boardwalk to the beach and the beach was great. The house is large enough that we all had enough space without feeling on top of each other.
The house was very clean and comfortable. Having the 3rd bedroom adjacent to the master bedroom worked out wonderfully with my 2 year old. We loved that we could walk to the beach and that the house came with lots of beach chairs and beach toys. We'd definitely consider coming back.
great location, and they provide beach toys and boards, and chairs! The whole family had a great time, and spent most of our time on the porch. Thanks so much!
Toes in the Sand is a lovely place, very well equipped, quiet, and close to the beach. Great layout of holiday home with living and dining space on one floor and the bedrooms above. Three entrances to living area - one through downstairs bathroom, which made showering off children after beach excursions very easy. The house was very clean and well-maintained. Great location. Would recommend this holiday rental to friends and family.
The house was clean and comfortable and had just about everything you need. Loved the sheets. The kitchen had enough utensils for my cooking needs and I was able to park my Jeep under the house which was great since I had the top off. The stairs in the house were a little narrow and steep. The walk to the beach was short but the board walk didn't go all the way across the dunes which was a problem for my dogs. The dunes had these burr/sticker/cactus like things that stuck in their paws and in their coat (long hair). When you try to pull them out it's like needles sticking in your fingers. If your dogs are small enough to tote no problem, my aren't. I tried the public beach access entrance and they were there too so I ended up parking by one of the driving access areas and walking in from there. The access was less than an 1/2 mile from the house. The beach was pretty much deserted which is just the way I like it. The back deck had a screened area and an open area which was nice at night to look at the stars and WOW. Walk to the end of the board walk or all the way to the beach at night. The night sky is incredible. I haven't seen the Milky Way in a long time.
As for the area, it's not commercialized with restaurants and shops on every corner. Make sure you stop at the grocery store in Port Saint Joe for food and other supplies before you get here. Its a few miles back to a big store. There is a small store a few miles up on Cape San Blas that has the basics. There were signs for horse rides, kayak rentals and other outdoor activities but all I did was walk the dogs on the beach and sit on the porch reading. I did eat at The Smoke House (I think that was the name) one night which was pretty good.
Overall the stay was very nice, comfortable and quiet. Enjoyed the house and the beach and would come back again. A gate on the back deck for the stairs would have been nice. Keep kids (don't have) and dogs from wondering off. - 4 stars because to me something has to be really fantastic for 5.
Great place to stay. I've stayed in Port St Joe several times, first time in this rental. Cute and pet friendly. Its far enough away from the road where you donlt hear traffic and donlt have to worry with your dog running to it either. Not a bad walk to the beach. We drove down to the park and drove our truck out on the beach. Will def stay again!
We rented three houses for our family vacation this year. Cape San Blas is a great destination. It is truly a hidden gem. Our stay was fantastic. The property is clean and well-maintained. Couldn't ask for more!
