Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday condo in Saint Augustine - WINDJAMMER St. Augustine,

Perfect Vacation: Ocean, Beach, River Views All In One Very Special Place

This direct oceanfront, 2 bedroom/2 bath one level condo is unique as it has both ocean views and views of the Intracoastal Waterway Matanzas River! Every room and balcony has breath-taking water views!!! And in 300 steps (no stairs) you are on the perfect beach for swimming, walking, riding a bike or sunbathing. Or cross the road to fish on private dock or launch your kayak in the river. This is the place for your next vacation.

What makes this vacation destination so special?

The unit is direct oceanfront, located on Crescent Beach in St. Augustine, Florida. What’s special are not only the breathtaking view of the ocean, but also of the Intracoastal Waterway and Matanza River and the low lands to the West. When you step through the front door you’ll be surprised at the sight of the ocean and be drawn to the private balcony to take it all in. Wait till you see the sun and moon rising over the ocean!

As you sit at the breakfast bar, you’ll have a hard time choosing whether to look at the river and the boats going by, or at the ocean and the waves breaking on the beach. The unit is special in that every room has water views! Few places offer this. From the dining area or from the many front porches you’ll love watching the sky change to all the colors of the rainbow, and be reflected in the river as the sun sets. The sight of the river flowing by is mesmerizing, calming and so peaceful. It also triggers the anticipation and excitement of going out and enjoying all the outdoors has to offer!

In 250 steps you are on the beach. Crescent Beach is kid friendly with tidal pools and wonderful sand for building castles. You can go for miles on the warm beach walking, jogging, scavenging for seashells or biking. The soft white sand and clear blue water make this one of the best beaches in Florida. It's a very wide beach with room to spread out and play: bodysurfing, surfing, boogie boarding, sailboarding, kiteboarding, surf fishing, sea kayaking, kite flying, Frisbee, bocce, and football. And, of course, just sunbathing and relaxing.

For an alternative to the beach, bring your personal water-crafts and fishing gear. There’s access to the river directly across the street for launching kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. Also there’s a private fishing dock. You might just catch dinner. The complex is only one of three that offer this option. If you have a boat on a trailer, there are several boat ramps within 3 miles. Ask about availability of onsite storage for your boat during your stay.

Many updates were done to the unit in 2009 and in the past year. You’ll be surprised at the quality of the furnishings. This is not your traditional beach front rental.

From the balcony there is nothing between you and the ocean but natural vegetation, dunes, and sand. It's a spectacular view, from the moment dawn breaks over the horizon, to the night sky glittering with stars. The murmur of the surf, the sight of pelicans and other sea birds, and the breezes from the ocean, make the balcony a delightful place. The sliders to the balcony are new and easy to open. Storm shutters are easy to open and close also.

The interior of the unit is as wonderful as the great outdoor area. It’s an airy open floor plan. Unlike many units, from the living room you can see through the unit to the dining area and out the window to the Intracoastal Waterway and Matanzas River.

The living room has two couches for relaxing, while watching the 50" flat screen TV. There’s cable with and DRV recording ability, so you won't have to miss your favorite TV programs, a DVD player for movies, and WiFi. If you need an additional bed just open ottoman for a full size twin bed.

The kitchen has been updated with new appliances and granite counter tops. Seating at the bar is a great place for kids. If you love to cook, this kitchen has everything you need, from quality cookware and utensils, microwave and coffeemaker, a blender for making tropical drinks or smoothies and an ice cream maker. A large selection of herbs and spices are in the cabinet for you to use or try. Use what you want, don’t worry about replacing what you use up, just add it to the shopping list to be replaced for the next guest. If you’re not into cooking, there are a number of wonderful places nearby for breakfast, lunch and dinner

This unit is also unique in the kitchen is located between the living room and dining area in an open layout. No walls here to block the view. This is great as the dining area is separated from the living room. One can linger over have dinner and others can watch TV or play games in the living room.

The master bedroom makes it easy to forget you’re on land when you sleep at night; from the comfortable king size bed, see the ocean waves and open the sliding glass doors to the balcony to feel cool breezes and hear the lulling sounds of waves on the beach. There is ample storage, walk-in closet and a 32" TV.

The master bathroom will surprise you with the large Jacuzzi tub, which is a wonderful place to relax at the end of a fun-filled day! Kids love the bubbles, too. There are double sinks, a separate toilet and shower area.

The second bedroom has a king size bed with ample storage, and direct access to the second full bathroom. 19" TV. Watching the water flow by in the river is almost as soothing as hearing the waves on the beach from the master bedroom.

All of the towels for both bathrooms, beach towels too, are provided. As are all of the linens, blankets, and pillows for the beds. A full size washer and dryer in the unit make laundry easy, not that you want to do laundry on vacation. Bring your favorite beach toys and chairs. The balcony makes a great place to store these.

The complex is gated and offers, an unheated pool, 2 tennis courts, an outdoor grill on the large sun deck, beautiful grounds, covered parking, uncovered parking, an elevator, (no carrying the bags up the stairs here) and on site management for assistance. If you have boat, ask about onsite parking for it during your stay.

• St. Augustine, Florida has been named one of “THE 20 BEST TRIPS OF 2013” by National Geographic.

• Visit charming, historic St. Augustine, the country’s oldest city. Take a trolley or walking tour to learn about the city's history. You can walk the old streets with colonial Florida architecture, discover interesting stores and hear street musicians. Sit and enjoy something to eat and watch the people go by. You never know what or who you might see!

• Visit the Old Spanish Fort, the Living History Museum, The Alligator Farm, Ripley Believe It Or Not Museum, Fountain of Youth, Potters Wax Museum, Lightner Museum, The Old Jail, The Oldest Schoolhouse.

• Watch for dolphins as you kayak on the Intracoastal Waterway.

• Visit Fort Matanza and take a ride on the boat to see the fort. Located 5 minutes down the road.

• Catch dinner from a chartered deep-sea fishing boat or rent your own pontoon boat and fish on the Intracoastal Waterway.

• Bring your Kayak and launch into the river across the street from the unit.

• Climb to the top of the light house.

• See the alligators being fed at the Alligator Farm or experience the thrill of the zip line over the alligators.

• Visit Marineland and swim with the dolphins, located less than 10 minutes away.

• Stroll leisurely down the beautifully manicured paths of the exotic gardens of Washington Oaks Park.

• Rent motor scooters in town.

• Golf at the World Golf Hall of Fame or at the other nearby courses.

• Or splurge at the outlet malls.

You might imagine that there are lots of really good seafood restaurants in St. Augustine and the beaches--and there are! Most are casual and each has a distinctive flavor and style…

• O'Steen's for fried shrimp

• Saltwater Cowboys for fresh catch & frozen drinks right on the Intracoastal at sunset

• Oasis for big screen TV on game day

• Florida Cracker Cafe in the historic district for grouper sandwiches and salads

• Sunset Grill, beachside, for local color, blackened catch of the day, salads, and Minorcan red clam chowder, just blocks from the condo

• Paula's for burgers, right next to the surfboard shop

• Tony's Pizza for New York style pizza delivered to your door

• Frog and McToad's for breakfast

• The Columbia Restaurant serves authentic Spanish cuisine in a very memorable atmosphere

• La Pentola (my favorite place) serves continental cuisine. Both The Columbia and La Pentola are located in the historic district.

• For cocktails on the water, try the Conch House and Resort or Kingfish Grill. Both are located alongside marinas, so you can watch the sailboats and yachts.

• Black Fly. continues to please steak lovers.

This all adds up to your Dream Vacation Spot! Come enjoy!!!

About Ginger Borgman

Originally from Texas, have lived in CT for the past 20+ years. And am done with snow and being cold!!! I am glad to be back living in the sun. I have been a real estate appraiser for 25 years and now am pursuing a new career in sales and traveling a great deal. I love to cook and any excuse for a party is sufficient to have one. I enjoy traveling, dancing and playing golf.

Ginger Borgman purchased this condo in 2013

Why Ginger Borgman chose St. Augustine Area

A little background this is a dream come true for me. In the 1980's I vacationed in Mexico in a beautiful condo overlooking the Pacific. Ever since then I had dreamed of owning a place right on the beach. Then in the 1990's I had a small river in my backyard and I loved watching the water flow by. My husband's love of summer vacations at the beach was the incentive to act on my dream. When I walked into Windjammer I knew my dreams had come true. Ocean to the East, Matanza River with low lands to the West, truly the best of both worlds all in one place. I love being here, hope you'll love being here too.

What makes this condo unique

The views of both the ocean and the river are truly amazing. The ocean might have big waves yet the river is calm and flowing by. I love the privacy of the unit, many places I looked at the balcony faced other balconies. Those I felt as if I was in a fish bowl. The location of the unit, though called 1st floor, is not at ground level. It is located above the garage (and no sound from the garage). The unit is accessible by a staircase that only we and the unit next to us use, an they are not here often. The location of the unit within the complex is superior to other units that overlook the boardwalk or have views obstructed by trees.

The unit was bought with the furnishings and they are very nice. Everyone that has come to visit keeps asking, did it come with this, and this, and how about this.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay here was amazing! We have been to St. Augustine and Crescent Beach before, but this is the first place that all 4 family members said they would want to stay in again. The view was beautiful and the condo was clean and had everything we could need and more. It really felt like being on vacation!! We especially loved the view and the stocked kitchen! It also felt like the condo was kept up and not neglected.

Absolutely Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed at many beach condo's in the area for years we were surprised at all the amenities. Truly a chef's kitchen, everything you could need. It felt like a home away from home, so warm and inviting. The views were perfect! Ginger was great to work with! Plan on returning soon, next time we'll stay a little longer.

PS The neighbors were very friendly! That's a BIG plus!!!

Fantastic oceanfront retreat!

  • 5 of 5

When you rent a condo, there are three areas that make up your experience - the condo itself; the owner; and the complex. All three of these areas were absolutely fantastic with this property and I would not hesitate to highly recommend staying here.

First the owner - Ginger is a wonderfully easy person to work with; she was very flexible in accommodating our dates, and was extremely nice to deal with both during the reservation process and during our stay. She sent a helpful packet of information at time of reservation, and had a loose-leaf binder at the condo itself with all needed information (what to do on check-out; condo & complex rules; and local attraction/restaurant recommendations).

Second the condo itself - the pictures are spot on. The view of the ocean is wonderful; because of the parking deck this "first floor" unit can see over the dune and out to the beach and beyond (most mornings I could see dolphins beyond the surf line). Both beds are comfortable as are the sofas and outdoor furniture. The kitchen had everything you could want to cook with (seriously, we went to a local seafood shop and made pesto shrimp pasta), along with a good (and quiet) dishwasher to clean up. Linens were comfortable and plentiful. You really felt as though you were staying with a friend, rather than an impersonal rental. The condo also has beach equipment - chairs, boogie boards, etc. Due to a glancing hurricane, we had to stay in more than we planned, but because the unit was so comfortable, that did not dampen the vacation at all.

Finally the complex itself - location cannot be beat, roughly 15-20 minutes south of St Augustine, and about 5 minutes south off 206 (so easy access from I-95). Single family homes or low rise condos in the area - some days I had the beach to myself and it's a huge beach! The "crowded" holiday weekend saw maybe 3-4 families spread out. The boardwalk has been rebuilt recently and does not have stairs. Elevator access to the condo or stairs. I loved the local custom of leaving ones flip flops at the end of the boardwalk (without worry that someone would run off with them). The sand is firm and does not have lots of shells (so very easy to walk on), and the beach is very wide. Truly one of the nicest beaches I've seen.

In summary - this was a fantastic trip (despite a hurricane!) and we will not hesitate to rent this unit again as soon as we can!

Beautiful condo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from a relaxing week in Ginger's beautiful condo. The condo has a wonderful view of the beach, and, if you are an early riser, you can enjoy sunrise from the balcony. The furnishings are of excellent quality, and the kitchen is well stocked with pots, dishes, and utensils, But, why cook, you are on vacation. Enjoy dinner at Ned's, Saltwater Cowboys, or one of the many fine area restaurants.

Great condo with great views!

  • 4 of 5

The condo was well furnished and very well stocked with anything you could think of that you might need for your vacation. The beds were extremely comfortable with very top of the line linens. The views were the best we have ever had--with the bay on one side and the beautiful Atlantic on the other. There is nothing like waking up to a sunrise on the ocean. Crescent Beach was also pristine and not too crowded or loud, like some beaches we have visited in the Gulf. We also loved being near St. Augustine and enjoyed touring the "ancient city."

We are only giving this a 4 instead of 5 star rating because the water pressure was bad in the unit, and the parking was very tight under the building, and nerve wracking to navigate. The pool and pool area also were not very clean on a couple of occasions. A lot of that was not the fault of the condo owner though and we would definitely stay at her condo again. She was easy to work with, returned emails in a timely fashion, and did everything to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing.

Owner's Response: Hi, Thank you for taking the time out to write a review. I you are most welcome to come again. The parking garage is tight and unfortunately many people don't pull all the way forward. The garage was suppose to have been additional units when the building was first constructed. Fortunately there is extra parking outside. I'm sorry the pool and pool are were not clean. I will pass you comments onto the management company. We have a maintenance man that is to take care of the area. I will also ask about the water pressure issue. Again I appreciate your comments and glad you enjoyed the unit. Ginger

Great Vacation Week

  • 5 of 5

This was my 2nd time staying in this unit. I loved it the 1st time and fell in love all over again. it is truly home away from home. the unit is very comfortable and tranquil. We enjoyed the beach daily and sunset walks. The homeowners are so meticulous in providing all the comforts needed. There is a full kitchen with all your needs and a beautiful balcony to enjoy breakfast in the morning. Had a great time and can't wait until next year.
