About Laura Heeke

I grew up in Rogersville and this was our families farm. My husband and I have the passion to save it and let others enjoy what we do.

Why Laura Heeke chose Tennessee

This is my family farm. I was blessed to be the one to carry on to save the farm. My father bought the farm in the 1960s and in 1976 he found the cabin in a neighboring community, bought it, and he and one other man tore it down, piece by piece, numbered each one and put it back on his property. Each cut of wood has his touch and heart in it. I played on this farm as a child, picked strawberries to sell to friends, laid tobacco stakes for my brothers to stalk rows of tobacco, rode our horses, feed our cows, and made castles in the hay loft. Even though it is not a working farm today, we hope it brings back a simpler time in life. There is additional cabins on the property that my parents built together. They collected antiques and made a wonderful little piece of history on the back of the farm. It is now in disrepair, but we hope to be able to save some of it, but it is available to explore.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the farmhouse in November with two kids and two dogs. We had a great time, unplugged from electronics. The dogs loved to roam the huge property in search of rabbits and squirrels. The fall foliage was in bloom and the weather had just gotten cool so it was very comfortable. The home was perfect for what we needed. The only draw back was the dry conditions and forest fires in the Carolinas kept me away from having a bond fire. Would love to come back.

Perfect weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this cabin! The pictures really do not do this place justice. There's so much history in this one place. We were in town for the Bristol race and didn't want to spend $$$ on a hotel room so we opted to drive further. Glad we did! This is the perfect place to wind down. Will definitely be back & can't wait!

Beautiful cabin

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The cabin itself has been totally reconstructed and is in fabulous condition. Very authentic. Great modern kitchen and bathrooms. The beds are incredibly comfortable. Lots of room to roam in the fields and forest behind the house. I would not that it is not particularly remote/isolated (several houses within a few hundred yards) but there were no issues in terms of noise or traffic. Great area. Great stay

Like stepping back in time...

  • 5 of 5

Decided to take a winter road trip and discovered this gem online. Stayed 9 nights and enjoyed every second of it. Got to see snow, deer, birds and listen to coyotes at night. Walked the property several times and appreciate the beautiful setting. The cabin is cozy with a warm fire and lots of quilts and period antiques. Very well appointed with modern amenities and everything you would need for your stay. I can't wait to get back again.

P.S. - the dogs loved it too!

Fantastic home away from home

  • 5 of 5

I live out of the country and wanted to come home and spend my summer close to my family. I was able to live in this cabin with my two daughters for more than a month, and was incredibly comfortable and happy there. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable, and the location convenient. The house itself is so lovely, but in spite of the age, is also very comfortable and liveable. Summer in East TN is gorgeous, but the setting of this house made it even more so. The evenings with the lightning bugs, the cooler of beer, the family gathered, and the sound of the bugs? I'm not sure it gets any better than this. I heartily recommend this place as a weekend getaway or weeks vacation. You'll be away from the bustle of life, but with all the modern comforts at the same time.
