Great "Retreat" Spot and Charming Historic Town

  • 4 of 5

Right off I want to say that we had a very enjoyable, memorable Christmas stay, and that the owners were great and really worked with a few of our requests that were quite, I suspect, particular to us. The farm is lovely and the town is really a gem. If you want to get away to a spot that is not overrun by tourists but still relatively close to several interesting attractions, this is a great spot.

A couple of notes, and these may be particular to our situation, and aren't mentioned as big negatives: The farm is not quite as "remote" as we expected (there are other houses fairly close) and the decor, while very nice and appropriate to an historic structure, probably included a few too many pieces especially since we had young children around, and we had a hard time finding enough space to put the food and supplies we brought for a couple of "home-cooked" meals. Again, these are minor quibbles! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the space, and especially enjoyed the fireplace, as it was pretty cold while we were there. Thank you Laura! Wish you future success- Great place!

Great family vacation stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to Rogersville, TN before. We looked for a halfway place for our family scattered from PA, Fl., AR, and MS. for Thanksgiving.

If you are looking for quaint, off the beaten path, yet close to town, this is your place. Our little grand boys had a blast! Our teenage grandchildren, well they’re teenagers who were concerned they didn’t had great cell service. Our adult children and husbands loved it, and all left saying it was one of our best Thanksgiving get togethers.

One of our daughters had car problems and the local Heritage Motors were super and used their mechanic to fix the problem. The town is charming and the people are very friendly..

We had a few hiccups but the owners were very responsive and helpful.

A great family weekend

  • 5 of 5

The entire family loved this home and property. So historice, but with upgraded amenities. A firepit with a great view, hiking with a better view and visiting nearby local spots were highlights. We ate in most meals - the grill is great and kitchen too. The beds are very comfortable - we slept great. I'd suggest visiting Amos Mill Eatery as well - wonderful spot and not far away at all. The family was talking of making a return trip before the weekend was ever over! Laura was great to work with as well. This place is a true gem!

Great place to be in the mountains surrounded by the feeling of love and sights of nature. We stayed a week but wanted to stay a lifetime. This old place is updated to the fullest. Plenty to do within a short drive. Don't overlook this place

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a delight! I booked the cabin for my wife's birthday weekend, she loved it. The cabin had the "home" atmosphere and charm she loves. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet weekend get away. It is conveniently located to lots of historic landmarks and small town shops. I would have given it 10 stars if they were available. Thanks form making our trip so enjoyable!

About Laura Heeke

I grew up in Rogersville and this was our families farm. My husband and I have the passion to save it and let others enjoy what we do.

Laura Heeke purchased this cabin in 1960

Why Laura Heeke chose Rogersville

This is my family farm. I was blessed to be the one to carry on to save the farm. My father bought the farm in the 1960s and in 1976 he found the cabin in a neighboring community, bought it, and he and one other man tore it down, piece by piece, numbered each one and put it back on his property. Each cut of wood has his touch and heart in it. I played on this farm as a child, picked strawberries to sell to friends, laid tobacco stakes for my brothers to stalk rows of tobacco, rode our horses, feed our cows, and made castles in the hay loft. Even though it is not a working farm today, we hope it brings back a simpler time in life. There is additional cabins on the property that my parents built together. They collected antiques and made a wonderful little piece of history on the back of the farm. It is now in disrepair, but we hope to be able to save some of it, but it is available to explore.
