Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Townsend - Yokie's Place

Peaceful Mountain Getaway - Wheelchair Accessible, Charming And Secluded

Yokie's Place, a beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bath mountain home, is nestled in the Smoky Mountains in Laurel Valley, a gated mountain resort community that has a gorgeous 18-hole mountain golf course, swimming pool, clubhouse, and other amenities. My mother, Yokie Horton, was confined to a wheelchair, so when I had this home built for her, it was created to accommodate her special needs. My mother is with the Lord now, but this beautiful cabin constantly reminds me of her. So, if you have special needs like my mother, or if you just want to spend some time in the mountains in the down-home comfort of a spacious, beautifully appointed home, Yokie's Place will be perfect for you!

This home has a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs, along with a covered front porch, a covered and screened-in back porch (a great place to enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the little stream at the bottom of the hill), propane barbecue grill, central heat and air, wood-burning fireplace, wide screen TV in the Living Room and TV's in 2 bedrooms, cable, wireless high-speed internet, and a washer and dryer. Linens and towels are provided, as well as bath soap and toilet paper. Also, as our guest at Yokie's Place, you will have FREE use of the Laurel Valley swimming pool.

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We opted for a getaway this Thanksgiving. My husband passed away in April and my kids knew the holidays were going to hit me hard. This getaway was perfect & accommodated my youngest who is in a wheelchair. It was a relatively short drive to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge and a welcome escape from the chaos that is there. We enjoyed the fireplace every night! The porch was a great place to sit and reflect on thoughts and memories and just enjoy Mother Nature.

Wonderful last-minute girls's getaway!

  • 5 of 5

First, thank you Erik for being so very nice and accommodating to me, my sister (69 year old birthday girl!) and my daughter throughout all my many rental inquiry emails and text messages. It was nice to easily access him for whatever questions we had as we got settled into this wonderfully cozy cottage in the woods (there are several houses around, almost like a country subdivision, not isolated at all.)

The cottage itself is IMMACULATELY clean and comfy! The linens were very good quality, the beds very comfortable, kitchen completely stocked for any kind of cooking you may need - everything was high end and details were not missed all throughout the house. Lots of personal attention to details added to the charm.

We loved all the uplifting quotes and verses throughout the house and the sense of peace and restfullness it offered us. We enjoyed it so much we ended up planning our weekend around just staying in as much as possible, building a fire and enjoying each other's company AND the coziness of the cottage.

The screened porch has clean, comfy cushioned furniture to enjoy coffee and listen to nature (trees surrounding it but not too dense). We wished we had come a few weeks earlier as the trees would have been at peak color I'm sure. But we will definitely be back - hopefully through other seasons to experience Yokie's place in spring and winter too! Would love to see those woods covered in snow!! You can see trees from the front view and back view no matter where you're sitting in the large, open living room - which was another thing we loved, the openness of the living/dining room.

Lastly, the oversized tub in the second bedroom was a hit with my daughter during a long bubble bath she treated herself to :)

We definitely plan to return and anyone reading this review will agree, I'm sure, once you've experienced this wonderful cottage for yoourself!

  • 5 of 5

The place was so nice everything was clean and well stocked. The 3 bedrooms were perfect. Everything that we needed was there, they had a great wheelchair accessible bathroom. The Olafson's were great people to work with we will definitely book this home again. If you need a place to stay this is a wonderful house. Again this house was very clean and had lots of room.

SIngle Level, Charming & Relaxing Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautifully comfortable with a great screened in porch that was oh so cook and refreshing. The house is all on one level which made it great for a young toddlers. The living room separates the 2 bedroom suite from the master suite which gave each family there private space. The kitchen worked nicely. There were also plenty of windows for ventilation along with nice air conditioning. I would definitely rent this house again.

Awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

Dianne was kind about a short-notice reservation and the process was easy and fast. As far as the house/cabin, was great! Has pots and pans and bakeware...everything you'd need. It's very comfy with the decorations and candles everywhere. One thing you don't see in the picture is the bathtub in the 2nd bathroom, which is perfect! Very lovely visit, will definitely visit again!

- Driveway is true, but unavoidable, as most of the houses on this street are up on a hill. Easiest thing is to back down out of it. :)

Thank you for sharing your home with my family!

great secluded cabin, yet close enough to activies

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at Yorkie's Place in late July. The cabin itself is very charming with all the amenities we needed for the week. We especially liked having the washer and dryer to dry wet swimsuits and towels! The coffee maker is a little quirky to turn on, but we finally figured it out by setting the delay timer. The kitchen was well-equipped. The third bedroom bed (back of the house) was too soft and crooked for my taste, so we switched with my kids and they slept fine in it. I think my only complaint about the cabin was that it is dark. I enjoy having sun shine in the windows and the beautiful trees that surround the cabin block the sun. It did not bother my husband at all, so this is a matter of opinion.

Check in and check out was very easy. The owner was very responsive to messages. The pool was beautiful - we used it every day. For future visitors - the driveway is easy to miss because of the cluster of 3 mailboxes. Be ready to turn in the 2nd driveway and drive fast. We missed it (twice!) and had to back down the very steep hill.

It was a very nice area to visit. We went to Gatlinburg one day and that was enough for us. We enjoyed driving through Cades Cove and the Foothills Parkway which are both very nearby and provide beautiful views. We shopped and ate around Townsend and ziplined at Next to Heaven which is on the way to Pigeon Forge.

It was a wonderful week and I was sad to have to leave! Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful home.
