This spacious 2 bedroom apartment has 2 full bathrooms and has been a big hit since joining our listings.
506 1/2 A St S.E. is perfectly located on the "House side" of Capitol Hill and just a 5 minute walk from the U. S. Capitol, Library of Congress, U. S. Supreme Court and many of the House and Senate office buildings. This location is in year-round demand and properties here typically rent well in advance of the season. Whether you are a power broker coming to lobby, a vacationer visiting our nation's historic capital city or a new member of Congress you will appreciate this Capitol Hill seat-of-power location!
This inviting property is situated on the ground floor of one Capitol Hill's magnificent Edwardian townhouses and boasts its own private secure entrance and garden patio.
You will love walking to nearby Eastern Market or Barracks Row just a few short blocks away to buy provisions or perhaps to take advantage of the many taverns, restaurants and specialty shops. And you don't have to be lucky to spot the "Who's Who" of Washington as they are frequent patrons here, too.
This wonderful space is not your typical cookie-cutter apartment. The large open living and dining room floor plan offers many seating and entertaining area options. Whether you want to watch TV, quietly read a book or hang out at the breakfast bar and enjoy a glass while preparing a meal in the upgraded fully appointed kitchen, there is something here for everyone! There are wonderful work areas where you can cruise the Internet as you plot your next day’s moves and activities, or prepare your last minute notes before meetings, briefings or other high-stakes activities.
Here you will find a tastefully designed mixture of modern and traditional furnishings making this a warm and inviting place to spend time or to entertain. There are two bedrooms with two spacious full bathrooms. One of the showers accommodates a wheelchair, steps are required in order to access the apt. Additional sleeping capacity is provided by a comfortable queen-sized convertible couch in the living room by or a separate air mattress which can be placed on the living area floor...an instant fun kid’s slumber party.
There is a private garden patio right outside the door where you can relax to enjoy some of Washington's fine weather, dine al fresco or to simply reflect on all the sights, sounds and experiences of your D.C. adventures.
You will be hard pressed to find all this in an accommodation as conveniently located and as well priced
Hi I'm Cliff Palermo. My family and I love providing great places for travelers to call home, while away from home since 2011.
Cliff Palermo purchased this apartment in 2013
This location is full of History and is at the seat of world power. It allows easy access to the great historical sights of Washington as well as the business center.
This particular property provides a wonderful experience for someone that really wants to experience a Washington neighborhood and a decidedly American way of life. Many people have stayed at this property from around the world and have been charmed by the special jewel that it is.The patio provides a wonderful setting to unwind after a long day of sightseeing or work!
We have stayed at several VRBO locations and this was by far our favorite . Even though it's only a few blocks from the Capital building & Supreme Court it was extremely quiet and peaceful . Really enjoyed morning coffee on the patio! I highly recommend you visit a lesser know Shakespeare museum that's only a short walk away. Appreciated using the guest umbrellas when had a few evening showers. We have family in the DC area and we would happily stay at this location again.
The unit is nicer than it looks in the photos. The kitchen is well equipped although it could use a few more dishes. Both bedrooms are nicely furnished although the front one doesn't have a dresser it does have adequate shelving. There is lots of closet space across the hall.
The living room has good seating, we were a party of four and were very comfortable. There is good cable TV, nice flat screen, wifi, dvr. There is a large dining table, and a good little bar bq out back. Good A.C.
The managers were very responsive to any issues or questions. This is one of the best condos we've found on VRBO. It's about a ten minute walk from the Capitol and a really cool market/business district.
Our party of four stayed here during October for a sight seeing visit. My son (16) and I had been to Washington several times on vacation and we decided to bring his girlfriend and mother along for their first visit to DC.
We absolutely loved this property and it suited our needs perfectly. It was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well equipped and having Eastern Market for groceries, and restaurants within blocks, ensured that it got plenty of use. We strolled through the neighborhood during the evening and the locals were out walking their dogs and enjoying the fall weather. The rooms and beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens for everyone. My son said that the air mattress was comfortable, although he wished it had a frame to raise it off of the floor (like a real bed because he is tall and it's a long way up)! There were lots of cozy linens for the air mattress as well. The washer and dryer were a convenience because it rained one day and we were able to dry our clothes, we were also able to pack lightly.
I have to say that the proximity of this apartment to the Capitol and National Mall is so convenient that it really made our trip, which was fabulous! It only took an easy ten minute walk to get to the Capitol! It was so nice to come home from a long day and really relax, watch movies, enjoy dinner and snacks and get a good rest. The little outdoor patio with a gated entrance was a nice place for coffee in the morning. A map was provided for us to enable us to find our way around easily, and a parking permit was waiting for us when we got there. The owner answered all of my questions via email before our arrival. We arrived, parked our car, and never used it again until we were ready to leave.
The only cons I would have are that the shower in the master bath is a walk in which allows water to leak out onto the floor because there is no border to keep it in, easily remedied with a towel though. The upstairs neighbor is also up early and you can hear him walking around with shoes on, so if you are a light sleeper like me it will wake you up. We decided to get going with breakfast earlier and start our day, so more sight seeing!
I would most certainly stay here again. The location is amazing, the neighborhood is secure and convenient and our stay in Washington was made better by this excellent property.
Our family of four stayed in this great Capitol Hill apartment for 3 nights in October. The location is perfect if you are sight-seeing in D.C. It's just a few blocks from the Capitol in a nice, safe neighborhood. We had plenty of space to spread out, a kitchen to prepare breakfast and snacks, and all the amenities that were needed. The only thing missing from the kitchen was a cutting board. :) The small courtyard was a great place for the adults to relax with a glass of wine after a long day of sight-seeing. There were also several good neighborhood restaurants only a few blocks away. Hank's Oyster Bar was great! We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to D.C.
Was in DC for a business meeting, and wanted more space than a hotel would provide. I found this property, and saved over $300! The apartment is wonderfully appointed, including a fully applianced kitchen (more than I have at home), heated bathroom floors, and 2 very spacious bedrooms. My son, my dad and I had plenty of room to spread out, and we used the incredibly comfortable queen-size air mattress (I'm getting one of them for use at home - I had no idea they would be that comfortable) so we each had our own bed. The owners provided excellent communication, and help locating amenities like the corner market. This apartment is literally 4 blocks from the Library of Congress/U.S. Capitol. The neighborhood is great, even for walking at night. It's so much quieter overnight than being at a downtown hotel and the nearly constant sound of sirens. We also were introduced to Turkish bath towels. I was skeptical at first, but they are wonderful! Lots of closet space, extra linens, washer & dryer, Bath & Body lotions in the restrooms, cable, internet....you name it, you will probably find it at this property.
I doubt if I ever stay in a hotel in DC again! Thank you so much for the excellent service, and providing access to such a great property.
