About Miller Putnam
I am a retired General Contractor from Greenville, SC and my family has always loved Charleston. My brother was born there during the war years. So, I have many ties to Charleston. I built Cottage End for my two boys' families and our 5 grandchildren.
Miller Putnam purchased this House in 2000
Why Miller Putnam chose Charleston
My family loves Charleston but we experienced the 'condo in the resort' type life-style and it was not for us. When my friend of 30 years offered to sell me a lot across the street from him, I took him up on it. We spent 3 years building Cottage End.
What makes this House unique
The location is unique in that there is still only a narrow, sandy, dirt street, it is not even graveled. And, the location, sitting on Clark Sound, is a perfect example of of the tidal wetlands that are so prevalent along the South Carolina coast. One can have a different view hourly as the tide comes in and out. Charleston can have tides that rise more than 7 feet. Our little road with maybe only 20 houses on it will take you back to the 1950's with it's look and pace of life.

We loved the property very clean. The property is on the end of the road no traffic and excellent friendly neighbors. Great view of the water. The house is very well stocked in all areas. Nice screen porch on the rear that has a view of the water also. Great lay out for 6 to 8 people lot of cypress wood work and shows good craftsmanship the wood work is amazing. You will just sit back and admire the staircase . I am sure it took a long time to construct. Grocery stores are close Folley Beach 10 min and Charleston less than 10. We will book again I am sure, boat landings are close 5 to 10 minutes to Wapoo cut ramp and 10 minutes to the ramp at Folley River both excellent ramps. The owner will respond to you quickly with any questions you have.
Fantastic Home! We loved our stay. Quiet neighborhood with a unique and beautifully crafted house.
Thanks, Dan, so glad you guys had a good stay.
I completely loved my experience with this awesome property in Charleston, the location was great, dirt road secluded, yet 15 minutes to downtown. The house was comfortably equipped and absolutely beautiful.
Dale, thanks for the nice review AND the nice note you wrote in our guest book. Come back and see us... Miller
Beautiful home in a central location
This house was clean, well furnished, very spacious and in a nice, quiet central location.
We didn’t cook but the kitchen is very well equipped if you choose to do so. Plenty of room for a large family. There were five of us and we never felt crowded at all. Certainly room for more! And my grown kids loved getting the games out in the evening and having family game time. Very relaxing after a busy day of beach or sight seeing. We enjoyed our stay and thank the owners for a great vacation rental.
Beth was a great guest, would love to have them back. easy to communicate with.
Very comfortable home in a nice quiet location
Cottage End is a lovely family home. It is just as described in the listing. Everything you might need for a relaxing vacation is provided. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked with everything you could possibly want to cook a meal at home. The house is also located in a quiet neighborhood that is a convenient short drive to most anything you might want to do or see in Charleston. We thoroughly enjoyed the city with all of its fascinating history, and this house was the perfect place to relax after our daily outings.
