Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday home in Bahamas - Aqua Terra

Gorgeous, Unique, Spacious, Beachfront Home

With ample space to unwind and plentiful amenities, AquaTerra is carefully planned to cater to every whim and encourage relaxation.

Sun-bleached stucco, indigenous wood tones and contrasting colours exemplify the breezy Caribbean style. The natural sand, water and wood hues take centre stage to inspire leisure in this amazing beachfront home.

The ICF-constructed, hurricane-proof home offers 5,200 sq. ft. of living space. The open-concept great room lends itself to connecting with friends and family, accented by a vaulted ceiling set off by rich, mahogany beams. In this room, cooking, eating, watching TV and playing games is possible, with the living room boasting a large sectional, a 46” flat screen TV, satellite, DVD player, IPod sound system and WiFi.

The kids will enjoy unwinding in the airy 500 sq. ft. loft with a sweeping bird’s eye view of the great room below, as well as the ocean.

The gourmet kitchen, tastefully done in soothing shades of whipped cream and espresso beans, centers around a large island perfect for prepping, serving and reconnecting. All appliances are stainless steel and the kitchen features a five-burner gas cooktop, a built-in oven/microwave combo, a dishwasher and a large French door refrigerator and freezer with ice and water dispensers. Washer and dryers are located in a separate out-building only steps from the house.

Everything needed is waiting for you. The cupboards are filled with tableware, glassware, flatware and melamine for indoor and outdoor use. The pantry is stocked with a large array of sleek, modern small appliances, as well as cooking and baking supplies. It’s ready for you to harness your Caribbean kitchen creativity!

Sitting down to a meal is an experience unto its own, as the dining room comfortably seats 12 people and looks out on the patio and ocean.

The patio itself overlooks the pristine “exuma blue” ocean and features a 24' x 24’ (optionally heated) saltwater infinity pool an 8' x8' (heat included) hot tub. A cabana houses a powder room, an outdoor kitchen and grill, a dining area and a lounge situated under an 800 sq. ft. deep roof, which provides protection from the elements and allows everyone to take in amazing views.

The home offers six spacious bedrooms. Five of the bedrooms feature a king bed , large closet and a flatscreen TV, while the remaining bedroom features two twin beds that can be converted to a King if needed, closet and a flatscreen TV. Note: The main floor bedroom is wheelchair accessible. The king rooms each have an ensuite bathroom with porcelain-tiled walls, large shower and double sinks. The twin room has a tub and shower combo, porcelain-tiled walls and large single sink. Both bath and beach towels are provided, as are a hair dryer and vanity accessories in each ensuite.

Rich mahogany and rattan, along with cool cotton furnishings, provide a comfortable, relaxed, tropical atmosphere. Feel the ocean breeze and the soft, powdery sand … and please remember to exhale!

About Gerryanne Porter

Aqua Terra is the result of a long personal and business relationship between the Porter and Perry families. Agreed to over a handshake at lunch in Kingston Ontario in 2013, the Porter's and the Perry's set out to redevelop an existing beachfront home and turn it into a vacation rental property they would be proud of.

Todd Perry's engineering background, coupled with Randy Porter's residential construction abilities were an excellent compliment to each other. Once Gerrryanne Porter and Tina Perry agreed to the style of the furnishings and interior, Gerryanne embarked on the journey of researching, selecting and coordinating the set-up of not only the furniture but the linens, small appliances, kitchen amenities and art work that make AquaTerra a very well equipped truly unique vacation property. Having spent months on the island during the construction process Gerryanne is able to answer any and all inquiries about the property and the island in general. Tina Perry brings her financial management abilities to the table keeping a handle on the business side of the unique and beautiful adventure we call AquaTerra.

The Porter's and the Perry's hope that everyone who stays at AquaTerra sees the beauty of the island and the experience at the home as everything they expected and more.

Even Better In Person

  • 5 of 5

Our family and friends stayed at this beautiful home for a week in August. It truly exceeded our expectations! Not only were the house and island beautiful, but everyone we dealt with was incredibly kind and helpful.

The owners actually left a birthday gift for our 8 year old...talk about above and beyond! Travis and Esther were generous in answering our questions and quickly addressed an issue we had with cooling a bedroom. We truly enjoyed getting to know Max as well!

I highly recommend a trip to Stocking Island, the half day boat tour to see the pigs and other beautiful destination, dining out at Lattitudes, and evening drinks at Catch a Fire.

I challenge you to find a better house on the island...I don't think AquaTerra can be beat! Our group loved the beach, where we literally only saw 2 other people our entire stay. We also spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub during the day and capped off every evening at the outside bar!

I highly recommend this home!

Our daughter wrote a very accurate review with the exception that she failed to mention that the owners control the hot tub and pool. We paid an additional amount per day to have the pool heated, which for the most part was ok, however the hot tub (which by definition should be hot) was not hot. The hot tub was controlled from the owners' residence in Canada. Every morning when we wanted to enjoy the tub at 7am for coffee, the tub was cold! I don't know what time in the evening it was shut it down. At 10:30 a.m. it was passable. Considering that the costs for a week are on the high end, we were very disappointed that our vacation was controlled. We were very respectful of this very beautiful residence, however the owners did not seem to consider us and what they, as owners, were responsible to do for us as renters.

Owner's Response: We are happy to hear that the vast majority of your stay with us was enjoyable, and thank you for the kind review. We appreciate your feedback with respect to the spa heat, and we hope that some explanation to both you and our future guests may help with understanding our Spa and pool heating system. Infinity pools like ours are particularly susceptible to minor fluctuations in water levels. An inch or two of evaporation in most pools is not unusual, but an inch or two in an infinity pool is the difference between “Wow!” and “Hmmm”. In order to ensure our water levels always stay near the top we overflow our system every day for a few hours. We also overflow the spa to ensure the water level in there stays topped up. To do this we turn the overflow pumps on at 4:30am and run them for an hour and a half. Our heater is set to stay off during this time as an energy conservation feature. The heater for the spa is set to come on at 7:15AM and maintain spa heat through until 10pm every night. When you enter the spa at 7AM it is at the same temperature as the pool (warm, but not hot). Given the generous size of the spa, it takes a little over an hour to get the water up over the 100 degree mark. We have based the timing we currently have on our history over the last 18 months and over 50 separate client experiences. It is unfortunate that your particular preferences fell outside that range. We will pay attention to future comments and if this becomes a noticeable trend we will take steps to review our timing windows. With respect to your comment about the spa being “passable” at 10:30AM we believe we know what may have happened. Currently one heater does double duty at our home and through the day the system switches back and forth between the pool and the spa, working to keep both at temperature. It is possible you stepped into the spa while the heater was working on the pool and it had not cycled back yet. We’re sorry that you were disappointed. We do take comments like yours very seriously. As a direct result of your comments and in order to ensure that a perceived lack of heat does not happen to any of our guests in the future we are working to install a second water heater in the next few weeks. This will allow the spa and pool to be heated separately, ensuring they each stay at the temperatures our guests expect them to be at more consistently. I hope this gives you confidence that your comments were heard and respected.

Amazing oceanfront Exuma family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented Aqua Terra February 18-25, 2016. We are a group of 12 (7 adults and 5 kids) and need a large home to accommodate sleeping arrangements and overall comfort while on vacation. We were amazed by the home from the moment we walked through the front door! The home is literally steps from the beautiful white sand beach and turquoise waters of the ocean. The pool and hottub overlook these beautiful views and are located right outside of the patio doors, which allows people to keep an eye on little ones in the pool from the kitchen or living room. We utilized the covered outdoor bar/grill and seating area for many meals and as a general outdoor "hangout". We were also pleased that 5 of the bedrooms are king beds with en-suites and each is of very similar size, finish and quality. Additionally, the room with 2 twin beds also has an en-suite with a tub/shower combination. With such a large group, it is great for all rooms to have their own bathroom. There is also a half bath off the kitchen as well as a half bath outside by the pool/grill area. The gourmet kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals at the house throughout our stay and the dining table seats 12 which worked perfectly for our group. The home is also conveniently located a short distance to the airport, bank, groceries (Smitty's), liquor, and resorts with restaurants and bars (only 5-10 minute drive). The property manager(s) were very gracious and readily available for questions/information.

During our stay, we loved eating lunch and dinner at Latitudes at the Exuma Beach Resort and also had a phenomenal meal with the best lobster and grouper we have ever eaten at Santana's (worth the 45 minute drive...make sure to call for reservations)! We also did the full day boat tour through Four C's Adventures which included swimming with the pigs and sharks, iguana island, sandbar, island tours, and so much more. We felt that it was well worth the cost for the types of experiences included in the tour.

We take a family vacation with our large group every year and travel to a different destination each year (Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Hawaii, etc). Aqua Terra surpassed all of our expectations and made for a fabulous vacation filled with wonderful memories. We would absolutely recommend Aqua Terra to anyone who needs a large home with incredible amenities and views!! Thank you!!!

Paradise in Exuma

  • 5 of 5

We rented Aquaterra as a group of 8 - 4 couples and were all amazed by the location and the property. You can't get any closer to the beach than the few steps down from the house right onto the beautiful sands of Exuma. We were amazed at how well equipped the house was. We cooked all of our meals in the gourmet kitchen as we hated the thoughts of leaving the house! The owners went above and beyond to make sure everything you might need is there. There is no way this house could disappoint!

Aqua Terra was absolutely excellent!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Aqua Terra 8/8/15-8/15/15 and it was a great experience. We have been fortunate enough to stay in many beautiful homes all over the Caribbean and Aqua Terra had the best combination of being in excellent condition and having every possible thing you could need while on vacation. Rarely do you experience something even nicer than the photos online, but we did. The beach was private and amazing. The pool was great for kids with different levels of depth. The staff was also very helpful in whatever we needed. It was our first trip to the Exumas and the beaches and water were more beautiful than any other beaches we have experienced in SXM, Turks, Anguilla, Grand Cayman, etc.

I would highly recommend Aqua Terra for a family vacation.

A very nice rental, a must stay if in Exuma

  • 5 of 5

We stayed from June 27 to July 5, This place has everything you could want, with tons more and a beach that is breath taking. We snorkel out ( grandson and I ) and found Starfish every time, with not much effort at all.

We went deep sea fishing, exploring, and made some friends with locals that I will cherish forever. This is a Dream House for sure
