Overview

About the property

Renovated, well-furnished 3 BR, 2 BA, Sleeps 6 - 2 min walk to the beach!

Carefree retreat by the beach NEWLY renovated, wonderfully furnished. Fantastic water/sunset views inside & out. CAC, 3 large bedrooms, 2 full baths, open concept living/dining/kitchen area, finished game room on lower level, brand new deck with grill ('15), located in the heart of LI wine country, with convenient access to great restaurants, farmstands, shopping.

——————————————————————

McCabe's Beach is a Long Island Soundfront community. Close to great restaurants, farmstands, fishing, beach activities and 'agri-tainment'. 90 miles from NYC and close to The Hamptons. The home is very comfortable for 6 people and even offers a finished lower level with a pool table for rainy days. Cable TV and kid-friendly too!

McCabe's Beach is a wonderful part of Southold, which in turn is a wonderful place both to work and live. It is reminiscent of an earlier time and many of the original, settling families from 1640 have descendants who still live and farm here. There is NO place like our community and once you visit you will want to come back again and again!

---------------------------------------------------------

Guests have access to the entire home--a private single family residence--and full use of the amenities. The public beach is a two-minute walk down the road.

Off the back of the house, you will find a lovely shaded deck with views of the Sound, a dining area and a BBQ grill for dining al fresco. There is a one-car garage with plenty of off-street parking (electric vehicles can also recharge in the garage). The home is located 1 mile from the village of Southold, with top-tier restaurants, such as the North Fork Table and Inn, Alure, and Elbow East, all within a 7 minute drive.

FYI, it's easy to get here: the Hampton Jitney runs regularly between NYC and Southold village. Southold is also a stop on the Long Island Rail Road. If flying is your taste, we have small community airports in Mattituck, East Hampton and Westhampton Beach. Car rentals are available through Hertz.

---------------------------------------------------------

Since this is a full house rental, other than greeting you, you will be on your own. I own a neighboring home and will be close at hand if there are any issues or concerns (or if you just want some advice/suggestions about what to do or see!).

*Please be aware that check-in time is 3 pm on the day you arrive, and check-out is at 11 am on the day you depart.*

**For stays longer than 3 weeks in the warm months, we kindly ask that guests pay for electric used.**

About Lawrence

I spent my childhood summers out in Southold and grew up in Nassau county.

I went to Holy Cross in Worcester, MA for my undergrad, and Boston College for graduate school. I currently live in Manhattan and work for a healthcare startup. I manage this property for my mother, who lives in Southold full-time.

Lawrence purchased this house in 2012

Why Lawrence chose Southold

My mother and aunt live near this property, and it made sense to purchase it as an investment for the future. The proximity to the beach, and the central location on the North Fork were too good to pass up!

What makes this house unique

The water views, recent renovations (2013 and 2015, minor reno in 2017) and full re-landscaping, 4 mins. to the beach, heart of wine country, great restaurants nearby, and even cute peek-a-boo views of the pond across the street are simply delightful!

Idyllic vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful month at this house and loved every minute of it, even the occasional torrential rain. The house is the best equipped one we've ever rented and we've rented many. The kitchen has just about everything one might need, the garage is loaded with beach paraphernalia, tools etc. and everything in the house was spotless. We especially loved walking to McCabe's Beach most evenings to watch the sunset and then walking back amidst the fireflies. We were able to hone our grilling skills and spent more time eating on the deck than usual. Mary and Rosie were always available if we needed anything but were not at all intrusive.

Perfect peaceful spot on the North Fork

  • 5 of 5

WOW! This place was the absolute perfect spot for a relaxing girls weekend. The house is in immaculate condition, and no detail has been overlooked. Mary (the owner and neighbor!) has thought of everything in outfitting this home for guests. I felt like we were at a friends house, not a rental. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever need, including spices, appliances, coffee filters, etc. Mary even left us a bottles of water (and a bottle of local wine) to get us started! The beds are SUPER comfy, with high quality linens, plenty of towels, and extra pillows and blankets galore. I've been in rentals were I felt like I was camping out, this felt like home.

The location is also amazing. A short walk to a lovely beach, and a short distance from many great wineries. We had a rainy weekend, but we were quite happy relaxing in the home, and running out later for some sparkling wine at Sparkling Pointe Vineyard. Breakfast at nearby Erik's was delicious, as was the pizza from Passiano's. The nearby town of Greenport has tons of cute shops for strolling around. There are many farms in the area that host fall festivals, very cute!

Mary is a great hostess, and good resource for local things to do. You could definitely just show up at this home, and be all set for a great vacation. (She even left a basket of toiletries in the bathroom in case we forgot anything!). We didn't utilize it, but downstairs in the basement is a pool table and second sitting area.

I highly recommend this home for a great Long Island getaway, either beach or vineyard, or just to get away from it all. Wonderful place!!

August in Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of renting this wonderful house for the month of August '14. It is the best equipped vacation rental that we've ever had. The house was recently renovated and is tastefully decorated. The owner is nearby and is very helpful if necessary and lets you alone when you want your privacy. The walk to McCabes beach is too short to be considered exercise. You are centrally located to all of the North Forks best restaurants and wineries. It's a great spot for bicycling, five minute to very nice golf course. Only thing that I missed is an outside shower. Small price to pay for such a terrific place to stay & enjoy the great sunsets from the deck.

A truly wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderfully relaxing stay at this well-appointed home, which is tucked away in the perfect location to experience all that Southold and the North Fork have to offer. It has the perfect blend of beach and country living. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful view of the Sound from the back deck and the short walk to McCabe's Beach - which was very quiet and peaceful. It was greatly appreciated to find that the house was well-equipped with all the essentials. Above all, the hospitality was exceptional. We look forward to returning soon!
