Memorial Day, 1989 was the beginning of our family's adventures at the lake. Built to our specifications, the cabin has served as a gathering spot for family and friends during the past 25 years. Enhancements to the cabin and grounds have been a labor of love, meticulously planned and carefully accomplished with help from the skilled craftsmen in the Longville area.
Susan Kopher purchased this cabin in 1989
Perched above Long Lake, the location is private and the views are stunning. We knew when we saw the lot that it would become the perfect retreat for our family.
Sandy 'lake' beach area, private location, natural stone lakefront patio with fire pit, tile/glass showers, all pine interior, lovingly cared for and improved.
The cabin was awesome. Our family was all here to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was such a great place to gather and make new memories. The weather was so great for swimming, fishing, and floating around the lake. We all had a wonderful time and especially loved watching and listening to the resident loons! Thank you for a great time!
The log home is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed our stay very much.
Was an excellent location and cabin. Beautiful lake. Fully furnished. All we needed to bring was food and everything else was there for us to prepare it.
We spent several wonderful days with good friends at this cabin by the lake and we highly recommend this beautiful and spacious home for your next getaway!! This is truly a home away from home with all the amenities one could ever want. We spent time boating, lounging, reading, listening to music and sightseeing the small nearby towns. Although we love to cook we also experienced some exceptional dining out as well!! Thank you Susan for this opportunity!!
We rented the home as part of a family vacation, bringing people from California and Florida to join those of us from Minnesota and North Dakota. Everyone commented at how beautiful both the home and the property were. The house had everything that was needed, with the exception of air conditioning, which would have been a nice addition, and something I will be sure to check on again next time I rent a property in the summer, even if it is more northern. (It did happen to be quite warm and humid while we were there.) The walk out basement is much cooler than the rest of the home and that provided a cooler space for some to sleep. The lake was gorgeous. The outdoor area near the lake isn't very large, but was adequate for us. There was a hornets' (or some such critter) nest under the boat lift cover but they didn't bother us too much. We did rent a boat from Musky House Marine for 2 days and it was quite enjoyable. There was lots of space on the lake and not too much traffic--quite perfect. We did try fishing but didn't have any luck with the exception of some small sunnies which the kids loved catching, largely right off the dock.
Besides the air conditioning, the only other true downside was the steps leading to the front door. There had been a little bit of rain one morning and two people slipped on the wooden steps, one bruising herself quite badly. This is something that could be pretty easily addressed, so hopefully will be addressed in short order (I had forgotten to let Susan know about this until I just thought of it in writing this review.)
Susan was great to work with. She responded to emails quite quickly and worked to address some special needs we had.
We would highly recommend this home and are interested in returning again, possibly during the winter months. For us, I think the addition of air conditioning would be a requirement for us to return again in the summer, at least at the hottest part of the summer.
We reserved this for family for our daughter's wedding. It was wonderful! A beautiful, very clean and updated cabin with an awesome view.
I could not leave enough positive remarks about this property and the owner Susan. She was so accommodating and willing to work with us on the dates of our stay. We also received a complimentary bottle of wine when we got there! Susan was easy to get a hold of and very friendly with any questions I had about the amenities for the weekend. The house is beautiful, perfect size, and had everything we needed for the weekend, including a grill on the deck.. it was the perfect vacation getaway. It's a nice size lake and we rented a pontoon for the weekend from Musky's House Marine and they were willing to drop it off for us in the water and pick it up since none of us had a hitch on our vehicle. The only negative thing I would say is the lawn area is a little small and shaded, but we ended up being down by and on the water all weekend that we didn't play an yard games.
I would definitely rent this cabin again and strongly recommending it to anyone!
