This was the second time we stayed here and enjoyed it just as much as the first. Bruno's has changed hands and gotten a face lift but it's still the same old place at heart. The house is a great little get away spot and we hope to rent from Seth again someday.
This was my families 2nd time spending Christmas in this awesome house! Everything was wonderful as always. House has everything you need to be comfortable. The beds are very comfy!
I have 2 suggestions! The first is serious, the 2nd not so much.
I think that if your house sleeps 7 guests that you should have a dining table and chairs big enough to accommodate that many people. We had 7 guests and Christmas dinner was a pain with that tiny table and 4 chairs. My 2nd suggestion is... a HOT TUB! (you know it would be awesome!)
Over all great stay! I got to bring my dog (for an extra fee) which made life easier for me. My family loves the house, we will back!
This immaculate house and property was an ideal long weekend getaway that allowed us to explore the area, cook great meals, watch lots of movies and sleep late.
The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had everything you would ever need to cook anything from simple meals to gourmet meals.
If the weather was warm, the back yard, porch and patio area would provide for beautiful sunsets and great cookouts, thanks to provided BBQ.
We brought a large service dog with us and he loved the large back yard and really nice dog runs.
The only very slight negative is the living room furniture is a little dated and the dining room table barely sits 4.
We loved our time here and are already talking about going back. Thanks Seth!!
We stayed here for a week and enjoyed to entire stay. It was nice to have a place to relax after a day of exploring the desert and launching rockets. We especially enjoyed all the local flare. If you stay here eatting at Brunno's is usually good but avoid the Ravioli.
We're Burners and native Nevadans from Reno. Every Christmas we go on a camping adventure to some remote hot spring or ghost town, but unfortunately this year the weather was very, very cold. We were about to cancle the trip when I found a vaca. rental in Gerlach. This was the perfect bass camp for all of our day trips. All of which were an hour away. Not only were we able to soak in hot springs and go on epic hikes, we were also able to go home to a warm house and sleep in comfortable beds! To top it off we had planned a king crab Christmas dinner but had forgotten crackers and all other crab utinsels. Luckily they had all the proper dishes and silver ware for a crab dinner; how about that? All the way out the desert and eveything! We had a great time and highly recommend this to anyone!
Gerlach is a rural community approximately 100 miles north of Reno, NV. The closest supermarket is 78 miles away in Fernley, NV.
The town of Gerlach has one casual restaurant, a gas station and several bars. There is a lightly stocked convenience store in the nearby town of Empire. Be prepared to bring all of the supplies you will need for your stay.
Gerlach is at the southern edge of the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trail National Conservation Area. This area offers great hiking, historic emigrant trails, OHV use, and beautiful canyons and wilderness areas. While there is good cell service in Gerlach, most of the BLM land in Northern Nevada is very remote with no cell service. Plan ahead and travel safely if you are going to explore in this region.
