It's beauty and location. I found the property nearly 20 years ago when it was not for sale. It just happen to be on the market when I moved back to the ocean! My heart lives here, and it brings pleasure and meaning to my life to share this beautiful place.
Unbeatable views, short walk to beach access. A peaceful spot where you can hear the sea. Pets stay for free and
we offer an enclosed 'Unofficial Dog Park'. The properties large back lot is completely fenced and safe to let your dog or dogs off leash to run around and go to the bathroom. Also, there is an excellent market up the street that carries wine, beer, fresh made sandwiches and hamburgers, movies, pet food etc. A quiet sea side village.
This place is perfect! Have stayed two times and love it. Hot tub has a view of the ocean. Good beaches nearby. Wine, coffee, and chocolate chip cookies a nice touch.
Thank you to Patrice and The Staff at Pelican Cottage.
My husband and I stayed in Pelican Cottage for a few nights in late November while visiting family in Gold Beach. The cottage is nicely appointed with all the necessities - kitchen appliances and utensils, full-sized fridge, microwave, small gas cooking range, coffee maker and grinder, toaster and all the needed utensils. The bath and beach towels were clean and soft, as was the bedding. It was a chilly time of the year but the little electric fireplace/heater kept the edge off and there were a couple extra blankets. While the hot water to the sinks and shower was perfectly hot, the hot tub was not. The water was just tolerably warm and we would've enjoyed the hot tub more if it was adequately hot. The hot tub instructions state that the water temp should not exceed 104F yet the water felt cooler than 104F to me. We did not inquire about this during our stay so maybe there was a remedy for this.
One additional detail that I will mention - just so Patrice and her staff can address - is the doors to the cottage. The double doors either need repair or replacing - the stationary door no longer latches at the bottom making the seal of both doors not water tight. There was a rainy storm one night and the water actually got in to the cottage making the welcome mat and floor close to the doors quite wet. This will eventually cause serious water damage to the flooring and subfloor. Also, the fact that the stationary door doesn't latch at the bottom is a security issue because I imagine if you tug hard enough on the door knob from the outside both doors may pop open. That said, we slept through a few blustery nights and the doors stayed shut.
Overall, our stay in Pelican Cottage was really very nice and we really appreciated all the details that Patrice and her staff took into account to make our stay comfortable and private. We would definitely stay here again and recommend that you do the same.
Thank you for a very relaxing week at the ocean. The private hot tub and porch with comfortable chairs were situated with an awesome view. Everything was clean and very well maintained. Very comfortable! ! !
We arrived to find chilled glasses with a bottle of wine and cookie dough ready to be baked.
Sitting on the deck looking at the ocean was breathtaking! The view from inside is just as amazing! Soaking in our private hot tub at night looking at the stars was so relaxing. Koa our husky also loved the fenced in dog park! We can't wait to come back and hopefully stay longer, five days wasn't enough. Thank you Patrice for sharing your beautiful place with us!!!
Beautiful location on isolated bluff. Perfect for unwinding. Well equipped kitchen. Limited seating and spreading out space in this studio cottage are limitations. And this stay we were disturbed 2 of 3 mornings at 7 by a barking dog in the front yard!
We loved our time at the Pelican and in Gold Beach! A little piece of heaven with breathtaking vistas, misty mornings and beautiful sunsets. Loved walking the nearby beaches gathering “gifts from the sea.” The Pelican is just what a little beach cottage should be! Patrice and her staff were lovely and thoughtful—from the wine greeting us upon arrival, the cookie dough waiting to baked (yum!) and the coffee beans/half and half to be savored with the morning view. We hope to return to this charming cottage and the amazing, spectacular southern Oregon coast one day!
