Why Patrice chose Coastal Oregon

It's beauty and location. I found the property nearly 20 years ago when it was not for sale. It just happen to be on the market when I moved back to the ocean! My heart lives here, and it brings pleasure and meaning to my life to share this beautiful place.

What makes this cottage unique

Unbeatable views, short walk to beach access. A peaceful spot where you can hear the sea. Pets stay for free and

we offer an enclosed 'Unofficial Dog Park'. The properties large back lot is completely fenced and safe to let your dog or dogs off leash to run around and go to the bathroom. Also, there is an excellent market up the street that carries wine, beer, fresh made sandwiches and hamburgers, movies, pet food etc. A quiet sea side village.

It couldn't of been better! The cottage is perfect!

We arrived to find chilled glasses with a bottle of wine and cookie dough ready to be baked.

Sitting on the deck looking at the ocean was breathtaking! The view from inside is just as amazing! Soaking in our private hot tub at night looking at the stars was so relaxing. Koa our husky also loved the fenced in dog park! We can't wait to come back and hopefully stay longer, five days wasn't enough. Thank you Patrice for sharing your beautiful place with us!!!

Relaxing spot with some limitations

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful location on isolated bluff. Perfect for unwinding. Well equipped kitchen. Limited seating and spreading out space in this studio cottage are limitations. And this stay we were disturbed 2 of 3 mornings at 7 by a barking dog in the front yard!

Owner's Response: That's Horrible! Should you choose to return we will happily add 2 free nights to your reservation. Who was barking is a bit of a mystery however I will make sure your mornings will be peaceful. Sincerely, Patrice Brousseau and Staff

A Treasure

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at the Pelican and in Gold Beach! A little piece of heaven with breathtaking vistas, misty mornings and beautiful sunsets. Loved walking the nearby beaches gathering “gifts from the sea.” The Pelican is just what a little beach cottage should be! Patrice and her staff were lovely and thoughtful—from the wine greeting us upon arrival, the cookie dough waiting to baked (yum!) and the coffee beans/half and half to be savored with the morning view. We hope to return to this charming cottage and the amazing, spectacular southern Oregon coast one day!

My little room in Nesika Beach.

  • 5 of 5

This is the most charming and well thought out ocean front room in Nesika Beach, Oregon. I could have stayed in bed gazing out the windows into the ocean forever. Nice big front deck to catch the rays, read and look at the views. The hot tub was clean and toasty warm. The bake your own cookies, fresh ground coffee and white wine were such nice touches. The smart use of space helped make the room seem larger than it is. Basic Cable TV, Strong WiFi and dimmer controlled lighting that set the right mood. Cute artsy touches give the room and the grounds a whimsical flavor. I can't wait to return for another getaway.

A true find along the coast

  • 5 of 5

This place is not so much a destination as it is a retreat. Everything combines to make this a place for total relaxation and contemplation. Everything was perfect -- utterly jaw-dropping view, especially when the french doors to the cottage are wide open; a wonderful proprietor who welcomes you with all sorts of wonderful surprises; a well-cared for cottage with everything one would need. The only thing missing is direct access to the beach down below the bluff, but that will be remedied in the future with stairs and a path that is on the drawing boards for being built this winter. We will definitely be back next year -- it is a great way to escape the summer heat of the Rogue Valley where we live. Thanks go to Patrice, who has provided so much for the visitor!

Owner's Response: Dear Richard, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your stay in the Pelican Cottage. We are sure your review will help travelers make an informed decision about their travel plans. You are an excellent guest and our guests are very important to us. We have an engineer looking at the bluff for possible access routes to the beach however the beach access remains a 1.1 mile walk or drive down a quiet road. Thank you again and we hope to see you again! Yours, Patrice Brousseau and Staff

Cozy, comfortable, tranquil, private, isolated getaway spot with a heavenly view

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here 6 days in August with my wife for our honeymoon. We truly felt like we had walked into a dream. We first noticed the lulling sound of the ocean waves. Then a cool pacific breeze brushed our faces as we rounded the corner where our private hot tub lay. We opened the French doors to find a giant soft bed waiting for us. Peaceful music was playing on the TV as we scanned the room; everything was neat and tidy. We were lured onto the king-size cloud and through the open doors watched a breathtaking sunset as the gentle wind continued to churn.

John and Patrice have a great thing going here. First contact was a phone call to John who answered all my questions, then an email following booking with all the information we needed. Though we never met our hosts, their care and dedication was unmistakably evident in the details around every turn. Luggage carts from the driveway, multiple dimmer lights, piping hot water, a plethora of beach/bath towels, an electric fireplace heater, perfect plumbing, essential oils shampoo & body wash, a fully furnished kitchen with oven and microwave, extremely soft rugs, portable fold-up chairs, a hairdryer, an iron/ironing board, a BBQ grill, and a fire pit (wood and lighter fluid included) just to name a few. Each side of the bed was independently adjustable for firmness/softness via bedside remotes, and the fridge hosted a pleasant surprise: cookie dough, wine, home-roasted coffee, and creamer. They even provided a detailed information binder with restaurant/recreation suggestions.

We were glad we hit up Gold Beach Visitor Center first for local info from friendly attendants. We’d highly recommend Jerry’s Rogue River boat tour. Double D’s Café serves a hearty breakfast. Sunset Family Pizza was delicious, as was the jalapeno burger at Barnacle Bistro. Spinner’s is good for a fancier dinner (though few, if any, dressed fancy). The redwoods were just an hour away and you MUST experience one of the drive-through trees.

The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is that we were woken up several times in the wee hours of the morning by barking dogs (notably by 2 different guests throughout the week in either the neighboring cottage or house). The Brousseau rentals get frequent praise for their pet friendliness, but in our case it was an unattractive feature. However, at a little over $150/night (plus $41.76 for cancellation protection), this was an amazing getaway spot to which we will definitely be returning.

Owner's Response: Dear Cody, Thank you very much for taking the time to review the Pelican Cottage and your experience here. I have spoken with my neighbor and he will minimize his dogs excited barking when they go outside at night and in the morning. I am so sorry about the barking. I live on the property and would very much like to know if anything is wrong while you are here. We thank you very much for choosing to stay in the Pelican Cottage for your Honey Moon and thank you for your outstanding description of the Pelican Cottage. All The Best, Patrice Lori, and Diane
