Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

Our family (including 3 young ones) had an absolutely wonderful time at this Woodford Cottage. It would take me too long to list all the positives. It was a wonderful environment - thoughtful touches and a cozy ambiance. There was something for everyone. Communication with the owner was easy and gracious. We would love to go back again and strongly recommend it without reservation!!

Relaxing and Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I (and our dog) loved our quiet four day anniversary getaway at Rose's cabin. Even before we arrived, Rose was so quick to respond to all of our questions and very easy to rent from. When we arrived, the cabin was very clean and well stocked (I overpacked and definitely didn't need to!). Everything from dish soap and a can opener in the kitchen to hand soap in the bathroom was already available. We all loved wading into the water by the dock, relaxing in the yard and enjoying the view, relaxing on the back porch with a spectacular view of the lake, and ending our evenings with a Netflix movie.

The cabin is about 20 minutes away from Bennington, so you can make grocery runs or just stretch your legs. And, even though the cabin is just off of Route 9, it sits far enough away from the road that we didn't have to worry about our dog, and road noise wasn't an issue.

We would definitely return to Rose's cabin again, and are looking forward to inviting friends to enjoy it with us.

Perfect location and exactly as advertized

  • 4 of 5

Cottage was great and exactly as advertised. There were 4 adults and one teenager and we had plenty of room. As it was the fall season the view on the lake was great. The location was good, just a short drive to Bennington VT where you can what ever you need while not in the busy town limits.

Rose was great to deal with, very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend. The only downside we found was low water pressure in the shower. Other than that, no issues.

Great for small kids

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our four-night stay this past week. The cabin was impeccable with a lovely porch overlooking the lake. I spent a lot of time in a rocking chair with our newborn while my husband took our preschooler kayaking and exploring. He had a blast feeding the ducks, swimming, and exploring the area. It was also nice to have Bennington close by for groceries and the occasional meal out. Overall, it was a very relaxing, easy trip for a late summer/early fall vacation. Thanks, Rose!

A Nearly Perfect Lake Cabin

  • 4 of 5

My family of four (and our dog) absolutely loved our time at Rose's cabin in Woodford!

First of all, the cabin was exactly as described and there were no surprises. It was also very easy to book and Rose was responsive to questions I had before we left for vacation. When we arrived, the cabin was very clean and everything was ready for us. There was a canoe, kayaks, paddles, life preservers, and a dock out on the lake. The grass was mowed while we were there and the fire pit was ready for our kids to cook Smores (even if the weather didn't agree).

The house itself was unbelievably cozy and cute. It's not luxurious but we didn't want that. We wanted a true lake cabin and this delivered. The three bedrooms were perfect and the master had a great view of the lake to wake up to every morning. The kids loved the bunk beds. The couch in the living room was big enough for all of us and we ate all our meals at the table. The flat screen was bigger than I thought and I was thrilled to see a Roku with preexisting Netflix and Amazon Prime. There was one in the master bedroom as well. And we especially loved the enclosed back porch with a gorgeous view of the lake, along with games for our kids to play. The kitchen is small and the stove even smaller, but my wife and I marveled at how well it cooked (especially how fast it boiled water). We had all the silverware, cups, plates, etc we needed and we were also able to cook on the grill on the deck with no problem.

The only small cons were being right on Route 9 (a major road with a lot of trucks) but we knew that going in and the kids and the dog were never in harm's way. Also, you have to bring your own linens and towels (which was also made clear to us ahead of time), and there is no washer/dryer available on-site.

All in all, it's a truly great cabin and a perfect Vermont spot to spend a week on the lake. If you want to travel, Bennington is close as is Wilmington (eat at Dot's Restaurant). There are smallmouth bass and pickerel in the lake, and young kids will LOVE swimming and playing on the dock.

I'd recommend this to everyone and we will definitely be back.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all, without sacrificing modern amenities. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Conveniently located near Route 9, the cottage is close to the charming town of Bennington (well worth a trip). The kayak and canoe at the cottage make it possible to explore the beauty of lake. After a long day of outdoor activities the fire pit is a welcomed treat for a relaxing. The pellet stove in the sunroom comes in handy when the temperature drops in the evening by taking the chill off. The cottage was great and we were very happy with our decision to stay and may return again in the winter. Rose was very helpful and provided us with great recommendations for outdoor activities in the area.
