Visit our cabin in scenic Funäsdalen, located across from Funäsdalsberget (ski slopes in winter) and next to Funäsdalsjön (fishing lake). Private location, perfect for family trip or a romantic getaway. The cabin was recently built, clean and all the appliances work well. You will be surrounded by pine forests and away from any city noise. We have spotted moose, deer, lynx, foxes and other animals on the property in both winter and summer. On cold winter nights, the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) can be seen.
Besides great downhill skiing (2.5 km away), the region is famous for cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, canoeing and horseback riding. The town (2.5 km away) is home to good restaurants featuring local fare (venison, fish) and an internationally-renowned historical museum.
Great cabin on the edge of the forest - very helpful owner's parents live next door. Great for a family of four (feels bigger than it looks on the photo's). Town is 4 km away down the lakeside road - everything possible is available in the town. Not really practical without a car - but why are you in this area without a car ?
So good we will almost certainly go again.
Very nice house, good equipped. Quiet place not far away from the lake. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
Many things to do in the area. Good place for bird watching, cycling and hiking.
We had a very enjoyful stay at the cabin. Owners are very very helpful. Kitchen was equipped very well. Internet was not important to us and from time to time we went toward the main house to sent/receive emails.
Tracks were well prepared. Nothern light showed up the first evening. 😊
The cottage is great and the hosts (actually the owner's parents next door) are very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time there. The cottage was absolutely clean, with a perfectly well equipped kitchen. The cottage and the host's house stand quite remotely in a wooded stripe of the nearby lake. You definitely need a car to get around. Funasdalen is a perfect base to explore the hikes in this area.
So why only 4 out of 5 stars? This has less to do with the cottage itself than with the booking platform:
We were looking for a place close to the water. Hence we set the filter to "max. 100m distance to lake/river". This proved to be true, however, the next access / place actually to see to the lake was more than a kilometer away ... unless you want to fight your way through some dense shrubbery.
The process of payment was somehow disrupted and thus we didn't hear back from our host. This is not due to the absolutely great hosts but a flaw in the booking system that caused some to and fro through the cumbersome communication process on this platform.
So definitely 5 stars for the cottage ... and 1 star for the booking platform.
