About the property

Only 12 miles to Downtown Seattle - Carriage House is in a quiet neighborhood and is great for walking along the water in nearby Lincoln Park.

- THERE IS HIGH-SPEED WIFI and expanded basic cable both from Comcast

- Free parking and about 20 minutes from the airport. (renting a car gives you more options, but you can get downtown easily on the Rapid C line)

- Everything you need to feel like you are home while you travel.

- Eagles, Harbor Seals, Blue Heron, and sometimes Orca Whales

- Views of Puget Sound

- Local beach access

- Bikes to borrow

- Great spot for touring Seattle or heading to hiking and beach sites

- Take in a sporting event at the stadiums without dealing with the noise and parking hassles of the city.

- Seattle Water taxi is 5 miles from the carriage house. It drops you off in the Pioneer Square area and stadiums for the Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders.

There is a Queen-sized bed with a 3 inch foam top, washer and dryer, gas fireplace, 41 inch television, patio with a bistro table, and a private full bath. There is a brand new full kitchen with granite counters, glass tile backsplash, and a gas range great for making simple or complicated meals. There is a full-size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster, utensils, plates and most things you would need to feel like you are cooking at home. The Carriage House has private parking with a lovely garden path down to the private entrance. (Five steps down and three up into the carriage house). It accommodates two guests comfortably. Great for Grandparents visiting kids and grandkids in Seattle or West Seattle.

The carriage house is water view, and the Water/Beach access is .2 mile walk to Lowman Beach. This park has a tennis court and stone path to a public beach with logs for climbing or sitting. There is a lovely sandy beach another .2 miles south of Lowman called Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park 135 acres and is one of the largest old-growth parks in all of Seattle. There are dozens of hiking, biking and walking paths throughout. There is also an Olympic size outdoor pool open all summer in the afternoons. For little ones there are summer wading pools and two large play grounds.

From the cathedral ceiling living area, there is a view of Puget Sound, and from the kitchen window there is a view of the north half of the Olympic Range.

The heat is a GAS fireplace with a thermostat to regulate as needed. It does take a few minutes to turn on, but the gas fire is lovely on a cold winter day.

For small or older dogs, it is an ideal location. It is only .2 miles to a waterfront park with great walking for leashed dogs. $50 extra per dog per stay.

About Kyle Winslow

We lived in the older home on the property for four years before we built the new house and carriage house. The gardens were finished in 2002. Many of the plants are from the Endolyne Garden Club plant exchange each year. There are Apple, Quince, Fig, and a few Plum trees. The other edibles include huckleberries, sage, rosemary, parsley, and lovage. In the vegetable garden we usually grow blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, artichokes, asparagus, rhubarb, beans, cucumbers, carrots, greens, and many, many tomatoes. There are about 30 pots of annuals around the property. There is a greenhouse and chickens as well. You are more than welcome to walk through the vegetable garden and grab a ripe tomato in season.

Kyle Winslow purchased this cottage in 1997

Why Kyle Winslow chose West Seattle

We live here in West Seattle because it has wonderful views and sunsets, and is not pretentious. Lately it has become very hip and trendy with great restaurants and wonderful bike trails. Many many families live in this area, and the community has a nice friendly feel.

What makes this cottage unique

Better than downtown Seattle:

Way More Quiet.

Closer to the airport using a car.

Nice Parking.

Great walking trails along the water.

More fun wildlife - ( our property has a backyard wildlife sanctuary designation) Coyotes, Raccoons, Grey Herons, Eagles, River Otters, Harbor Seals, and Whales and Daul Porpose every once and a while.

Perfect place for our extended stay.

  • 5 of 5

The description of the property is very accurate. It is in a lovely setting, close to the water and offers some water views. The space is ideal for a couple. We loved the location and took daily walks, taking in sights of the water at nearby Lincoln Park or from Alki. Kyle and Michael were welcoming and had the place well stocked with basic and even unexpected items, such as a bottle of bubbly. Attention to detail and design within the house made our stay even more enjoyable. This was our first time in West Seattle having explored other parts of Seattle in the past but loved the community feel, restaurants, and bridge or ferry access to downtown. Thanks again Kyle and Michael!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your nice review. Please let us know if there is anything we are missing for supplies. We work really hard at trying to have all the basics here for you when you arrive. Lincoln Park and Alki are our favorite spots as well. Don't forget to take the bikes next time. Kyle and Michael

Cute place in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for our ballgames adventure in Seattle. The gardens and walkway to the entrance were charming. The carriage house had everything we needed, very well appointed. We slept well in the comfortable bed and linens. We rode our bikes to Alki Beach twice, walked through Lincoln Park twice, and golfed at the West Seattle Golf Course twice. In the evenings we attended Mariner games, taking transit in to Seattle and back, which worked well.

We would stay here again no questions asked.

Impressive and Charming

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this comfortable, clean, and charming home. It is in a beautiful neighborhood, conducive to great venues, transportation, and peaceful parks and vistas. We were so taken with the landscaping surrounding Kyle and Michael's rental - it was akin to living in your own private botanical garden. The views of the Puget Sound are fantastic. The carriage house is well supplied, and is perfect for a Seattle getaway.

Owner's Response: I think you came at perfect time to see the views. A few trees are growing too tall for my liking in the summer, but they are lovely to look at as well. The park by the tennis court down the street is finally done after 3 years of work! Please come back again time. kyle and michael
