Overview

About the property

Two story chalet; four bedroom, two bathroom, sleeps 8-10, close to the lake!

Come relax at Lake Tahoe in our family’s charming chalet on the beautiful and peaceful west shore of Lake Tahoe. Our cabin is recently updated and completely furnished.

Each of the four bedrooms (two upstairs, two downstairs) contain a queen size bed and all linens are provided for your comfort and convenience. Additionally, the upstairs bedrooms each contain a twin rollaway bed. The two bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) have been remodeled and updated.

Just bring your food and favorite beverages and enjoy preparing your meals in the modern and fully stocked kitchen. Or take a five-minute walk to the local pizza parlor for some of the best food Tahoe has to offer. If you forgot to bring something, the local market is only a short drive or a ten-minute walk.

During the warm summer days you can relax on the deck while enjoying the serenity of the west shore, and when it gets chilly out you can cozy up inside with a roaring fire in the wood burning stove.

A short walk to the beach - only two blocks away! Provided with your stay is full access to the beach and pier at the Water’s Edge. You can also walk or bike to Sugar Pine Point State Park, or hit the slopes at Homewood Ski Resort less than 3 miles away. There's a great little coffee shop a block away and a fun local pizza spot with a nice selection of craft beers.

Note about our rates:

Our rental rates are all inclusive, meaning tax and cleaning fee are included in the quoted per night rate. I do charge a $250.00 refundable security deposit. VRBO also charges a service fee, which is not included in the nightly rate.

About Gary Gutowsky

I grew up in the Bay Area and my parents, my brother, and I have enjoyed vacationing in Lake Tahoe since the mid-60s. We bought the lot in 1972 and built the cabin ourselves in 1976. After retiring from the Air Force in 2011, my wife and I settled in the Sacramento area to be close to our kids and so we could spend more time at the Lake. Since then we have spent a considerable about of time at the cabin and love being there. When we're not there, I spend my free time volunteering with the American Cancer Society and Junior Achievement of Sacramento.

Gary Gutowsky purchased this chalet in 1976

Why Gary Gutowsky chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We love the West Shore of Lake Tahoe! That's why we've been coming up here as long as I can remember. There is so much to do here, or not...it's up to you. One of my favorite activities is to walk down to the pier at Water's Edge in the evening and check out all the stars. It's amazing and so relaxing. Another fun activity is a bike ride around the neighborhood or through Sugar Pine Point State Park. As a very recreational skier, I love skiing at Homewood. It's only a few minutes away and it's a great family ski area with some of the best views of the lake. I think my favorite time of year there is the Fall. The days are still warm but the nights cool down so it's a perfect time to sit outside during the day and cozy up to the fire at night. And since the kids are back in school, it's not crowded there at all. Lake Tahoe is my favorite place in the world...any time of year!

What makes this chalet unique

Our cabin is a labor of love. We built it in 1976 as a family project with the help of a few friends. Although it was built with many hand-me-downs, it has always been cozy and comfortable. We updated the kitchen in 2006 and the bathrooms in 2013. Also in 2013 we replaced most of the furnishings and all the linens. We're very happy with the way it turned out--maintaining that rustic charm while providing all the modern conveniences. Come check it out!

Great location; nice and clean

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location of the cabin is great; a good pizza parlor, gelato shop, little playground for the kids, and the beach are all within a +/- 4 block walk. Not to mention the bike trail is nearby at the end of the road as well. The cabin has all the basics one could wish for. It has an open layout and is clean and inviting. Definitely recommend it!

Quaint and well-cared for home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. I met Gary at the beginning and he was so friendly and helpful. Throughout the week he was quick to respond to any questions we had. Overall, a great stay. And for such a good price, too!

Charming four bedroom cottage--great for families

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the four bedroom cottage. Located close to Sugar Pine Point State Park, where we kayaked and enjoyed a shady beach. West Shore pizza is a short walk away. Don't forget to enjoy the gelato at Where We Met (Same plaza as the pizza) Owner has very courteous to notify us of highway 80 being closed due a fire. Daughter appreciated the fan provided and high chair was utilized by my 6 month old grandson.

Everything you need in this charming chalet, conveniently located to town

  • 4 of 5

One less star because it smelled heavily of Pine-sol when we arrived, it was fine after some airing out. Comfy beds and a warm shower, the heated floor in the bathroom was lovely. This is walking distance to yummy pizza and gelato and a quick drive to Meek's Bay. A great place to relax and unwind, enjoy family game night or a movie.

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cabin from April 9-11, 2017 during the spring break. The cabin was wonderful, clean, fully stocked and best of all, it had a heated bathroom floor! The area was near supermarkets, shops, and ski resorts. The staff was friendly and even gave us weather conditions on the day of our travel. We had a great time!
