A recently built traditional rustic style 3 storey village house situated on the edge of the hilltop “white village” of Gaucin, perched over 600 metres above sea level, with its narrow winding streets and white houses. The village has several excellent restaurants and tapas bars, as well as small supermarkets, banks and other shops The property, only four minutes walk from the village centre, enjoys stunning views over the valleys below across to the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Moroccan hills and yet is easily accessible from Malaga, Jerez and Gibraltar airports. It has full central heating, double glazing and a log fireplace, making it also a perfect winter retreat. It is tastefully furnished to a high standard by its English owners and has an open living/dining and kitchen area with adjoining covered terrace, three bedrooms (sleeps up to six people), two bath/shower rooms, and a secluded private terrace overlooking the swimming pool, (8m x 4m) shared with 2 adjoining properties.

About Michael and Susan Jepson

We looked long and hard for a suitable property in Andalucía but eventually chose Gaucin because of the village and its unique views to the coast. After having viewed many properties there, we knew that Casa Mirador ,as we call it, was the right one as soon as we walked in and looked out from every room and from the covered terrace in particular The many responses from our guests, who often return for another stay, also bear out that they felt the same. We live in England but love Spain. We spend our main holiday each year there, often then also spending a few more days exploring and discovering some other part of Spain.

Why Michael and Susan Jepson chose Gaucín

We wanted to get away from the coast and chose Gaucin, one of the Adalucian white villages, because of its unique position, perched on the hillside approx 2500 feet above sea level looking out over the Genal Valley to Gibraltar and the Mediterranean. We have furnished it as our holiday home but enjoy sharing it with our guests,who send us very appreciative comments and many rebook and look forward to their next visit.

The village is a delight with its mix of shops and Spanish and ex pat owned bars and restaurants and is still totally Spanish, but has a good number of residents, from UK and other parts of Europe, many of whom have become friends

What makes this house unique

We had been looking for the right property in Gaucin for a very long time before we saw Casa Mirador. As soon as we walked into the living area and saw the views across to Crestelina mountain and the sea, we knew straight away that it was for us and we still get the same thrill each time we visit, as do our guests, who also like the fact that we have furnished the property as our holiday home and welcome them as guests

Casa Mirador

The house is located in a perfect position with beautiful views from the house and pool down to the south coast of Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco but also immediate access to the local shops (lovely little traditional Spanish grocers) and restaurants (brilliant cheap Tapas bar in one of the squares). Day trips to the beautiful town of Ronda, less busy parts of the coast of Spain (eg Tarifa/Cadiz), and Morocco are great fun. We were there during Fiesta in early August which makes Gaucin town more lively but does mean some noise at night (the house is 10 minutes walk from the main centre of festivities but you can still hear the music through the night). We have older teenage girls who found it a great place to relax during the day and go into the town for the late evening (but note, it wouldn't be suitable if you had children looking for a lively night culture). The house is well furnished and spacious, with a very helpful local manager, Pam. The pool is immediately accessible to the house and is shared with two other properties (we don't mind sharing but others might).The property is 90 minutes by car from Malaga airport. Car is essential if you are to get about - but beware narrow streets in hill towns. There were six of us and we got up-graded to a Chrysler Voyager which didn't fit through some of the narrow streets! Overall, the property is great value for money.

Fantastic villa, great location near to wonderful village

We have just got back from a wonderful week in Gaucin which was very relaxing. The villa was perfect with everything that we needed to hand. We felt at home as soon as we walked in. The views were just breath taking and there was always a cooling breeze as the temperatures got to 37c on one of the days. Four adults and 1 child stayed here and there was plenty of room. The decor was great, very simple which added to the charm of the location. The location is great with a short walk to the village and all the lovely restaurants and bars. We also had a fantastic meal at the nearby La Fructuosa restaurant which is only the shortest of walks away. Gaucin is a really pretty village which has managed to keep its charm. You can spend hours walking around all the tiny streets and stopping at the bars for a coffee or beer. The only trouble was that a week was not long enough as there are so many places to visit. We will be returning.

Wonderful Village Setting with Unobstructed Views Down to Mediterranean

We stayed here while on a family holiday. The owner of the property was prompt with replies to my emails and provided us with lots of info on the village, directions and things to do. We arrived later at night so the caretaker Pam was not able to meet us til the next morning, although she had stopped by the house prior to our arrival and turned the heat on. She was a wonderful English lady who explained everything in the house and about the village.

The village is a rural setting, but has everything you need with lots of restaurants, Groceries and small shops. We used the house as a central hub to visit the surrounding areas. We visited Morocco (ferry in Tarifa is 1.5 hrs away), Gibraltar (1 hr), Ronda (45 mins), Casares (20 mins), and the Pileta Caves in Benaojan (30 mins). Other days we just enjoyed the town by wandering the streets, visiting the castle ruins in town (Castillo del Aguila), doing the Gaucin Via Ferrata, or just sitting on the covered patio enjoying the view. Everything in town is an easy walk of no more than 10 mins.

The house was very clean an had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The living area is on the main floor, with two bedrooms and main bath on the floor below and another bedroom and bath (as well as access to the pool) on the next floor below. As we where there in mid March we used the heat at night ( the days were warm and beautiful but nights were cool. We did not use the pool, except for one very quick dip on the last day, but it was very clean and would be nice to sit out by in hotter weather. The best part of the house are the unobstructed views down the valley to the Mediterranean. On clear days you can easily see the Ocean, the Rock of Gibraltar and even the North Coast of Africa. We also enjoyed watching the local Sheep herder take his sheep to pasture every morning in the valley below the house. The sound of the the sheep's bells and their baas was very cool.

If you're looking for a place for rest and relaxation away from the fast paced style of the southern coast of Spain but still be close to all the area has to offer, or you just want to sit back and watch the world go by Gaucin and Casa Mirador is the place for you. We highly recommend the home and are missing it already.

The perfect place to relax...and enjoy the view

This was our second visit to Gaucin and it was more enjoyable than the first, not least because of our accommodation. The villa is spacious, spread over three floors and with lots of outdoors space, including shaded areas to relax, a bonus given that we have two children. We very quickly settled in and the property contained everything we needed to feel 'home from home'. I can't imagine how anyone could ever tire of the view: 'spectacular' is an over used word but entirely appropriate here. We were fortunate to time our visit with a full moon, providing a magical late night view, all the way to the coast. The owner was incredibly helpful before and after we made our booking and we were met in the village by Pam who helped us navigate the narrow streets and introduced us to the property. Although the pool is shared with two other adjacent properties we seemed to have it ourselves for much of the time. A perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

Great relaxing holiday

We had a great relaxing holiday. The whole process of booking, confirmation and payment was simple and reassuring. On arrival Pam the representative was very welcoming and informative. Nothing was too much trouble. The property is beautiful with views to die for. The pool Is a good size but if you need more exercise the municipal pool is great and very cheap, 1 euro per person Gaucin is a very relaxing and friendly town with a great variety of bars and restaurants that won't break the bank. There are plenty of places to go and towns to see. We even went to the beach 3 times during our stay. The property is very clean, well appointed with great quality furniture and decor. I would thoroughly recommend this property and Gaucin

A great location with stunning views

The house is very comfortable with plenty of space and very well equipped. The views from the balcony are stunning with Morocco visible on a clear day. It sleeps 6 comfortably and is in good clean order with parking outside which is quite a rare thing in Gaucin. I would not hesitate to recommend Casa Mirador as a great base for exploring this very special part of Spain.

The village’s whitewashed houses and terracotta roofs, spread across the hillside, mark it as one of the pueblo’s Blanco or white villages of Andalucia. It is overlooked by its castle Castello del Aguila (Eagles’ Castle) and enjoys spectacular views down the valley of the Genal River to the Mediterranean Gibraltar and the Rif Mountains of North Africa.

The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the area is of particular interest to those who enjoy walking and bird watching and is on the main migratory route from Europe to North Africa. The area offers many walks with interesting flora and fauna and, by car, tours to the many pueblo’s Blanco of Andalucia. The Costa del Sol is approximately 25 minutes drive, its golf courses 30 to 40 minutes drive and the Atlantic beaches are accessible within one hour’s drive.
