Over 25 years ago we were the first time in Cape Coral. Since then, we have played with the idea to buy ourselves a holiday home there.

We looked at countless properties, but only in 2010 we found what we were looking for ...

Our Wet Week in Sunny Florida

We spent a great week in this lovely home in Cape Coral, in spite of the fact that we had severe thunderstorms every day!! The house was immaculate! The kitchen was supplied with everything you could possibly need to prepare meals if you wanted to do so. We were on vacation so we found great places for dinner and a neat breakfast place called Hart and Soul in the Cape Coral area. The linens were of excellent quality and there was a TV in every bedroom. We enjoyed sitting by the pool with the screened lanai, without having to deal with mosquitoes!! The owner and the manager were great to work with. I would recommend Villa Bonaire to anyone who enjoys staying in the comfort of a beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood.

A great "home away from home"!

We had a wonderful time in Cape Coral, mostly because of the comfort and convenience of Villa Bonaire! We were delighted form the moment we walked into the beautiful entry and living area. It was very clean, much better decorated than we expected from a rental, and with plenty of room. As we explored we were even happier! The master bedroom was spacious with a comfortable king bed (but watch your toes of the bed's platform), the master bath was roomy with a huge shower, and lots of closet space. All the other rooms were great too, although ten 3rd bedroom might be a little small if it was needed. My wife was delighted with the kitchen, which was amazingly well equipped.

That was just the inside! We spent many joyful hours on the back patio, soaking in the pool when we got warm or watching the boats go by on the canal. The canal leads directly to the river/bay so there is a great variety of boats passing. The barbecue was large and clean, and we gave it plenty of use. There is a boat dock too that works well for fishing too!

All the utilities worked well. The property management co. went over operating everything when we got there, then left us alone until we were ready to check out. When a screen blew out during some high wind they quickly repaired it along with others that were a little loose. The yard and pool were in great shape and well-maintained. The only improvements would be the microwave was a little noisy and hard to use, and the water pressure was lower than we would have liked. The air conditioning has some limits too, but should be at least adequate in hot weather months.

The house is in a good neighborhood with a mix of less expensive houses and a few showpieces. Access to larger roads is easy once you learn how to work around the canals.

This was our first trip to southwest Florida, and we found an abundance of recreation within easy reach! We spent a lot of time on Sanibel and its beaches, drove to the Everglades for alligator watching and a boat tour, went kayak fishing by the mangroves of Pine Island, and enjoyed some successful bass fishing in the freshwater canals north of Pine Island Road. Its a great location for sun and sport lovers!

We also found a couple of seafood restaurants and markets that we liked. Merrick Seafood and Lobster Lady were great! For a great atmosphere (live band, lots of boats) and good food try Miceli's on Pine Island Road. You'll know it by the always overflowing parking lot!

Great house awful service.

when we arrived the house looked amazing but the experience was soon ruined. We had a sleepless night after the 2nd day due to alarm issues going off all night and no one to contact, then the air con packed up on day 4 of 7. we left early due to the property managers not being able to get someone to look at it.This was the worst bit as we did not have an opportunity to go through things before we left. The way they stopped us getting a refund was making stuff up about the house after we left. Then they said there was damage which was not on the pictures and video we took before leaving. The owner then said we had moved or removed a lamp which I showed them a clip from a video I made on the way out of the house showing it still in place (I was lucky I filmed the house before we left or they may have charged us for a lamp too. NO refund for half of the stay ruined. They said we damaged a cupboard which on my video looks more like a makeup mark which I was sorry for not cleaning fully but we left very early when I was feeling very ill due to the heat in the house. That said the house was amazing apart from the 85 degree heat, They said they are fixing the air con and they turned off the alarm.

Owner's Response: Dear reader, as we also told this guest we are very sorry that during his stay there have been two defects which negatively affected his holidays. The alarm issue (a low battery caused two control panels to beep gentle. Not all was the “alarm going off”) was fixed a few hours after his respective mail written in the next morning. Unfortunately he did not call our property managers already in the night when it occurred. It is not true that he had “no one to contact”: all contact information could be found on his check-in protocol, the house information folder, the welcome letter, the rental contract, the business cards, the mails from our property management, …). It is very bad luck that only two days later the air condition broke down. It is not true that “property managers were not being able to get someone to look at it”: Only two hours after the guest talked to our property managers a mechanic inspected the air condition on-site. Nevertheless the guest decided to leave before. (meanwhile the AC has been replaced completely as it turned out that the defect was severe). We honestly apologize again for the defects, however knowing that those things may happen. But not at all however do we have a reason for “making up stuff” to “stop a guest from getting a refund”. Everything was ok on arrival what he confirmed in the check-in protocol. It is not true that he did not „have an opportunity to go through things“ before leaving: The guest sent a mail saying „We are leaving the property now as we speak“ and left, avoiding a common check-out. Our property managers and cleaning team then found amongst others: One table lamp missing. One hurricane shutter ripped out of it¹s rail. A scratch in one of the bathroom lockers. One hinge of one toilet lid broken. One corner of one wall deeply damaged. BBQ uncleaned. Electric power usage more than twice as high as included. An overall disgustingly dirty house. We did not charge for all of that. And we never saw “a video he made on the way out of the house”. It is true that we are sad about the condition our home was left. Maybe the reason for his review is that we told him that? Of course meanwhile everything is repaired or replaced and has been thoroughly cleaned and looks like new. Unfortunately there is no way to get rid of this misleading review. So should you want to make your own picture of the story please let us know. There are plenty of pictures, mails and documents to show how it really was…

Villa Bonaire, a beautiful Cape Coral property

We had a lovely time at Villa Bonaire. The home was immaculate. The pool was well maintained and the yard beautifully landscaped. The managers were professional and personable and were very quick to respond. There are many fine restaurants and shopping close by as well as several local golf courses. We look forward to returning to Villa Bonaire next year and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation home. Thanks for a great stay Silke and Karl.

Another great vacation at Villa Bonaire

Villa Bonaire is a wonderful home and a great vacation location. This is the third year we've rented and enjoyed it this year as much as the two previous years. The home is beautiful, well appointed, and in a very good location. We found the home is ready and move in with everything we needed. The house is location on a sailboat access canal with great boats passing by regularly. Sunsets are breath taking. The neighborhood is friendly and safe. Location is convenient to shopping and restaurants. There are multiple golf courses within 15-20 minutes. We look forward to returning in 2015.

Villa Bonaire Perfect for our Stay

Villa Bonaire is as advertised; we walked into a spacious, airy, sun-filled, clean and comfortable house for our week stay in mid-March. The layout was great for us-two couples. The bedrooms are well separated by a large living room/kitchen space, as well as the screen porch, where we spent every morning planning our day's activity over coffee and breakfast. All the furniture is inviting, and we had lots of room in which to spread out.

The location is excellent; close enough to shopping centers, convenient to i.e. The Edison & Ford Estates (an unanticipated delight), Jet Blue Park, Sanibel, 4-Mile Cove Eco Preserve, [and the airport]. In just over an hours drive, we could visit Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary near Naples (fabulous), and Stump Pass Beach State Park up north. In that same time you can get to Lovers Key State Park on the western tip of Fort Myers Beach, and stop for lunch or dinner at Flippers or Nervous Nellies, both of which we recommend, on your way home.

The house is sunny, comfortable, tasteful and large. The master bedroom bed is among the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the master bath is ginormous. Everything is well kept up. The kitchen is nicely stocked, and the large screen porch is where we spent a rainy afternoon in total comfort. There is an abundance of lounges, chairs, and the large table to sit at, while you overlook the canal. And quiet! The only noise we ever heard was from passing boats, or the hello from the neighbor next door. Other than that, we heard nothing from neighbors, and we kept the lanai doors open all the time while we were there and awake. As others have mentioned, the cooler (found in the garage) is a helpful touch. Every day we packed our lunches as we set off, and were able to picnic wherever our adventures took us. For dinner on Cape Coral, definitely check out Misto Bar and Grill. Our best meal of the whole trip.

Alexander, the owner, and Silke, the property manager are both easy to work with. They respond to emails quickly, and answer questions just as fast. We completely recommend Villa Bonaire for your Ft Myers area stay and plan a return visit ourselves in the future!
