About Sally Maseyk

Read the reviews-they are all true. I am a busy assistant head teacher at a London secondary school but I will find time to answer your questions and making sure this is one of the best ski/summer holidays you will have.

Why Sally Maseyk chose Aravis ski area

Most ski apartments are little more than a place to lay your head between ski-ing. Ours is a second home, nicely furnished and comfortable. It was originally two apartments but was built off-plan as one. It has no one overhead and no one on either side of the balcony. We are at the very top-and have it all to ourselves. The high gable roof gives a feeling of space and the view....wow, the view-just you wait and see!

There is enough ski-ing on the doorstep or you can ski from the door to La Balme, Beauregarde or into La Clusaz....all on your doorstep.

What makes this apartment unique

We are 100 metres from the piste. You come out of the door and can turn either left or right to walk, sometimes with skis on (if snow permits) just 100 mtrs to the pistes and then the Aravis is your playground.

We have a log fire (although please take care and do not have a furnace). We have a comfortable king sized sofa bed and a bedroom with 4 bunk beds-ideal for the children.

The shops, restaurants, ski hire, ESF Ski school etc are just half a km from the door-walk or drive. You can see our little 'Centre Commercial' from thwe balcony, it is that close.

In the evening if you do not feel like cooking-go to the wonderful Veille Ferme (far right corner from balcony)-wonderful Savoyarde food, in an amazing old farm house. Or Yeti Bar, for a wide variety of food and a games room with table tennis etc. In the summer their position just beside the swimming pool makes it an ideal venue to sit and sunbathe with a cocktail or an ice cream.

Or Le Dahu, the pizza restaurant just next door to Yeti. Or the wonderful Le Florineige restaurant/bar right on the piste.

We have a well-stocked Sherpa Supermarket and a bakery and laundry (although we have a washing machine in the apartment).

Superb location, lovely views and great apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a short break at the end of January 2010. Right from our first enquiry Sally was really helpful, excellent directions and local information. It was easy to find and park - we flew into Geneva. We could board straight down to the chairlift each morning, few queues, mix of terrains. Quiet but very pleasant nightlife in the locality. The apartment was perfect with plenty of homey touches such as a wide range of DVDs. It was also very clean and generally nicer than your average ski studio package type of accommodation. We will definitely be back!

Second stay here - just as good!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Sally's apartment, this time for a summer holiday instead of skiing. As before, Sally was prompt in her emails, and the apartment was clean and welcoming when we arrived. Everything we needed was provided. The apartment is wonderful in the summer - sitting in the sunshine on the balcony in the morning with a coffee is just wonderful. We will definitely be back!! Many thanks Sally.

Beautiful apartment, great views, fab location

  • 5 of 5

Really fabulous, can't recommend it enough!!! The Owners are very helpful and friendly, the apartment is cosy and homely - loved the fire!!! We stayed as a family of 4 - very spacious for a ski apartment! Has everything you need! We slept on the sofabed which was very comfortable. Plenty of parking nearby and fairly easy to park at local pistes.

Sally could not have been more helpful with clear directions and instructions to make the most of our stay. We quickly found that we felt at home in her lovely apartment. Highlights were the amazing views, fantastic log fire and everything to make our stay comfortable. This is a holiday destination not to be missed!

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fantastic four night stay at this lovely little apartment in Col de Merdassier. The photos don't do the place justice - the living space is a lot more spacious than it looks and the new sofa bed is extremely comfortable. Kitchen facilities are on the basic side but served perfectly well for our purposes. The view from the balcony is breathtaking, particulary at sunset when the opposite mountaintops catch the last light.

We loved the little town - had a couple of really delicious meals in Dahu Cafe followed by a few in Yeti bar. We also loved La Clusaz which we skied down to every day for our mid-afternoon coffees/beers. The skiing is fantastic - best suited to intermediate skiers because there are lots of brilliant red slopes, lots of blue slopes but not many blacks or greens...we skied four full days and didn't quite cover it all (although we did have our favourite spots so did quite a few repetitions - skiing over to la balme and back was our fave).

Sally was really, really helpful - provided FAQ sheet which answered pretty much all our questions but was also on hand for the few left unanswered.

I think it would be quite a squeeze to fit 6 adults in there as 4 would have to go in the bunk bed room which is quite cosy! We stayed as 4 adults and it was ideal for us.

Would love to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Owner's Response: You are really welcome. It was a pleasure to deal with you. I am thrilled you love it as much as we do, even enough to want your own place. Wait till you experience it in the summer-Heaven on Earth comes to mind.

Great location, homely and comfortable apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was bright, well equipped, homely and very comfortable. The views from the balcony were stunning and great for getting straight onto the slopes. The owners were very helpful in giving directions and hints for things to do in the local area.

I would definately return to this property and recommend it to anyone seeking comfort and quiet. The village itself doesn't have too many restaurants, shops and bars but these can be found within a short distance.

Only negative is that the ski locker was full of the owners belongings and this would have been useful and the apartment itself had a lot of the owners clutter within it reducing storage space.

On the whole it was clean, bright and comfortable and we would gladly use it again.

Owner's Response: We advertise as a much loved second home. As such it has many personal touches that holiday makers love. In order to keep personal possessions to the minimum I use my ski locker. If guests want a sterile, shell of an apartment, there are hundreds to rent. We offer home from home and as can be read here, our guests love that.
