Casa Federico stands in 6,000sq metres of private grounds, in a tranquil and secluded position, just a short drive from the center of the beautiful white washed village of Competa and it's fine selection of shops, restaurants and bars. The panoramic views of the Sierra Almiljara mountains down to the Mediterranean Sea are a sight to behold, and on a clear day both Gibraltar and the mountains of North Africa can be seen. The villa is furnished to a high degree and offers comfortable accommodation for 4 people. Fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances plus microwave, coffee maker etc and marble worktops, spacious through lounge-dining room with WiFi and IPTV , DVD/CD player and ceiling fan for those hot summer days, underfloor heating and log burning fire for those cosey nights in dining or to just relax and enjoy the beautiful views after sun bathing around the private 8m x 4m x 1.5m pool, which can be floodlit in the evenings.

Peaceful relaxing time
The view from the villa was absolutely stunning. The villa itself was great but could do with some upgrading. Like the paintwork, the sofa and chairs had stains on them and smelt. There were chipped plates. The pool was wonderful but the sun loungers were grubby. I understand it was the end of the summer let's but to me it was a little disappointing in those areas. Overall we had a wonderful relaxing peaceful 2 weeks.
Amazing holiday at a beautiful location.
A beautiful property. Amazing location and views to die for.
Villa spotless as too was the pool.
Handover and the whole booking process was excellent.
The only reason l have not given 5 stars was when we arrived there were certain items not there l would have expected. No corkscrew/ no pots or trays to cook in the oven/ no basic condiments such as seasoning/ basic herbs.
If anyone goes after us, we have purchased all of the above so fully stocked.
Fabulous villa and location.
We spent ten days at this wonderful villa in August. The villa was immaculate and very private, offering stunning views over the Andalucian hills, and was perfect for a relaxing holiday. The pool was fabulous and very welcome for cooling off during the hot days.
The pretty nearby town of Competa had many lovely cafés and restaurants at reasonable prices, plus a small but well stocked supermarket.
Overall, we enjoyed a fantastic, relaxing holiday that exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to returning soon.
Wonderful seclusion and amazing views
This villa looks pretty good in the pictures and was the reason for our choice. What we didn't know was that the pictures don't do it the justice it deserves. The space and quality of accomodation is as good as anything we have had elsewhere. The villas biggest advantage is it's setting, truly stunning. Perched on the side of a mountain the views either out to sea or inland take the breath away.
The drive from the airport isn't too taxing(although Malagas' road signage isn't brilliant so take care) but the drive up the mountain from the coast can take a while and needs steady nerves, once done a couple of times you get used to it. Competa itself is a charming town with just about everything you need. The restaurants in town are very good as are the selection of shops. There is a market which is well worth a visit with lots of arts and crafts being sold. As a base Competa works well with Malaga, Nerja and the other coastal resorts at hand for days out.
We booked to stay here as we thought being up a mountain would be cooler in the summer, wrong! The exposed mountain reflects the sun and the heat quickly builds. There isn't even much wind up there to help so bear this in mind when booking.
You will get a visit from a local goat herder in the afternoons wanting to water his flock. It wasn't a problem at first for us but he became a bit of a nuisance after a while. The agent says to just say no to him if it's a problem. The agents by the way are very helpful and friendly, being English it's easy to sort things out with them so definatly a plus.
Only one concern, the villa only has one entrance door and all the windows have unopenable bars over them. Not sure this would pass an English fire test certificate, Spain the regs might be different but it doesn't make it safe in my book. So just be careful and don't take any chances with smoking etc.
All in all we had a fabulous first ever visit to Spain and this was in no small part due to the location and villa. Very recommended.
Fantastic villa, fantastic location
We've just returned from a very memorable stay at this lovely villa near Competa.
The villa itself is perched high in the hills above the Malaga coastline - and offers astounding views of the coast around 20km away, and the mountains to the north. At around 3km from the village of Competa, the villa is very secluded and quiet, and is approached by some amazing mountain roads.
The villa has everything you need - Nice, large, comfy lounge and well equipped kitchen, two good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom. We ate on the terrace most meal times. The pool is very nice, and well looked after (by a really friendly chap who also gave some really good local advice on attractions etc..). During the day, the views from the pool terrace are stunning, and at night, you can star gaze while enjoying a drink as the skies are very dark here.
Competa village is about 3km away, and offers some lovely local shops and restaurants (try Oscar's opposite the main church and the chicken in Competa wine from the restaurant in the main square is out of this world). Whilst you need a car really, there are a few local taxis (10 euro from the town to the villa) - we tended to drive into town to eat and get a taxi back - leaving the car in the safe car park in town, and then I walked back into town to get the car the following morning - about a 45 minute walk through some stunning scenery.
There are some nice beaches around Nerja, especially to the east, and Nerja Caves are well worth a visit. Further afield, a visit to The Alhambra at Granada (about 1hr30 drive) is well recommended, but book on line in advance. About an hour away is Alhama de Granada - a very Spanish mountain village, with some great tapas restaurants.
In summary, a lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet, but with some really typical Spanish shops and restaurants close by.
The villa was just as pictured, very clean, very well presented and equipped.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday then this is ideal. The only times we were disturbed were when the goatherder came to ask for water for his goats on about 3-4 occasions during our two week stay. He arrives at about 3pm in the afternoon.
The pretty town of Competa with it's narrow cobbled streets and white houses was just a short drive away and had a couple of reasonable supermarkets, restaurants and internet facilities.
If you want to go further afield most of the journey is on winding hillside roads (as is the drive from the airport), however the roads were pretty quiet and we had no problems visiting Nerja or Torrox.
If you arrive on a Saturday it's worth knowing that the supermakets are closed on Sundays so make sure to get some provisions en route. The Eroski centre you pass on the way to the villa has a huge supermarket but is about 30 minutes from the villa, however it does not close in the afternoons from 2pm until 5pm as do those in the town.
All in all we had a lovely holiday with great weather and facilities.
Competa is approximately 1hours drive from Malaga airport on well signposted roads. The village of Competa is a huddle of brilliant white houses tumbling down the mountainside, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. A Moorish settlement in origin, Competa is now famous for it's wine, friendly Spanish atmosphere and the beautiful mountains surrounding it. The area around Competa is steeped in history, and is encompassed by a 4000 hectare wildlife reserve. A fantastic holiday base any time of the year, the area is popular for it's wonderful country walks, horse riding in the mountains and cultural centres of Granada and Seville. The coastal resorts of Nerja, Torrox Costa and Torre Del Mar are all within easy reach for those lazy days by the sea or a round of golf at Caleta. In the winter months skiing in the Sierra Nevada is only a 2 hour drive away.
Arrival and departure dates can be flexible, subject to negotiation. Electricity, towels and bedding are included in the price. On the day of arrival access to the villa is from 3pm and on the day of departure you must vacate by 10am
