Overview

About the property

4-bed villa (sleeps 8), rural setting, near Valencia, pool, gardens

The villa is set in secluded grounds with walls around its perimeter, offering you privacy and an opportunity to switch off from the outside world. To the front there is a covered terrace with dining and seating areas that overlook the beautiful mature garden and its fountain. To the rear is a further dining area with grapevines hanging overhead, perfect for enjoying a meal and glass of the local wine with family and friends. Also at the rear of the property is the private outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace overlooking a pine forest. The villa has an orchard where you will find a wide variety of trees and a badminton /volleyball area. Inside, there is a spacious living/dining area, as well as the bedrooms, shower room and kitchen. The interior has air conditioning, as well as ceiling fans in the living/dining area. There is also a large wood burner in the lounge area. Finally, the villa has a large driveway and garage with a traditional paellero (paella cooking facility).

MotoGP - Ricardo Tormo Race Circuit: The race circuit is only a 10-minute drive from the villa and hosts various motor sports, the best-known being the finale of the MotoGP season. The normally tranquil local town of Cheste holds a wild 4-day fiesta, where bikers from all over the world come to party and watch the racing. The fiesta has to be seen and heard to be believed - an atmosphere like no other. Formula 1 testing also takes place at the circuit at various times during the year. For these reasons, the villa is popular with both motor sport enthusiasts, as well as those actively taking part in the racing themselves.

Fiestas including 'La Tomatina' and 'Las Fallas': 'La Tomatina' - on the last or penultimate Wednesday in August, this is a frenzied but cheerful tomato-throwing festival that has gained a worldwide reputation.

'Las Fallas' - a wonderful and wild fiesta that runs between 15 and 19 March. There are round-the-clock celebrations for the whole 4 days including street parties, world beating firework displays (day and night!), parades, open-air concerts and bullfights. Valencia considers itself the pyrotechnic capital of the world and this is when you find out why! The Fallas themselves are spectacular huge statues built by local artists on behalf of their local areas and displayed throughout the city centre. Just after midnight on the last day of Fallas the statues go up in flames.

Other fiestas - there are too many to list individually, but all towns throughout the Valencia region have there own fiestas and these can be regular affairs with fireworks, parades, bull running and lots of eating and drinking into the early hours.

Valencia - Lonely Planet Top 10 City for 2011!: Valencia is No. 5 in Lonely Planet's list of Top Ten Cities for 2011. It has numerous world-class museums, including the stunning City of Arts and Sciences (designed by Santiago Calatrava), which includes Europe´s largest aquarium and the eye-catching opera house. There is also the world-renowned IVAM modern art museum. The city is compact enough to mean all its attractions are within walking distance once you are there, so be sure to set aside at least a day to experience these. The city centre has many attractive palm-lined boulevards, beautiful historic buildings and designer boutiques. Host of a couple of America’s Cup yachting jamborees and an annual street circuit Formula 1 motor race, it’s also European Capital of Sport for 2011 and a favourite destination for conferences and congresses. The city has seen some excellent restaurants opening in the last few years, as it becomes more well-known as a tourist destination. Be sure to visit this fantastic city during your stay.

About Kevin Monger

My name is Kevin and I live and run my own company in the city of Valencia. My wife and I are both British and have lived in Valencia since 2005. Prior to moving to Spain, we both lived in London and worked in the financial sector. We have two young daughters (Imogen and Scarlett). We are very lucky to own the holiday villa and we try to use is as often as we can at weekends during the year when it is not rented out.

Kevin Monger purchased this villa in 2005

Why Kevin Monger chose Vilamarxant

The villa is a magical place. It feels like an oasis with all the trees and nature all around. We have a fish pond with lots of fish and three red squirrels live in the pine trees in our front garden. The are lots of places to sit and relax, perhaps reading a book, sunbathing, eating, drinking or just chatting with family and friends. The villa is fully equipped with all you need to enjoy a wonderful holiday and you can always jump in the private pool if you need to cool off!

What makes this villa unique

There is not many villas that have such beautiful gardens, with so many trees and wildlife all around. This is what makes it such a special place. It is not something that can be easily created, the gardens are mature we make sure that they are properly looked after for us and our guests to enjoy.

Really enjoyed the self-contained and quiet nature of this house - lots to do and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Kevin bent over backwards to help us out and made sure we had a place to stay at short notice (airbnb that didn't work out). The house is comfortable, well-equipped, lots of living spaces indoors and outside and fun games (active and board games) to keep us occupied when not relaxing by the pool! Thank you to the housekeepers and to Kevin for their kindness.

Our Perfect Spanish Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have just come back from our second consecutive two week stay at this property and it did not disappoint. It is what we can only describe as what traditional Spanish living is all about. Remote enough to be completely private, yet still only a 5 minute drive from the local village with all its shops and bars. Also a short drive is valencia city centre and it's beaches (Malvarosa was our favourite) and the magnificent Heron City, a local hub of bars and restaurants that comes to life around 9pm.

The villa itself is a good size, with 4 good sized double bedrooms, but it is the outdoor life that you come to Spain for and this property has character on every side. Whether you or a sun lover or shade seeker, you can find a comfortable spot to settle down any time of the day. The raised private pool and sun terrace are a true sun trap from just after sun rise to when the sun sinks behind the trees in the early evening. The front porch is almost shaded and cool all day long, irrespective of the incredibly high temperatures that can be reached.

The games room is another way to escape the sun or spend the evenings with family challenging each other at one of the many games provided whilst enjoying a refreshing drink or two.

The only criticism I have of this property is the one bathroom, which can lead to a queuing system (especially when you have teenage girls), but this is a small price to pay considering what the rest of the villa has to offer. We managed to live with it and there is a shower up by the pool if needed.

The owner is informative and helpful and acts upon any issues almost immediately. The cleaners and gardeners that visited during our stay were polite, professional and non intrusive.

We have enjoyed both of our stays so much that we have enquired into booking again next year and cannot wait to go back.

I strongly recommend this villa to anybody, couples or families.

little oasis

  • 4 of 5

Lovely family house and well equiped and maintained. It is settled in a small isolated compound away from the maintrack. We - a family of 8 persons - loved our stay very much and especially enjoyed the swimmingpool, the terrace and the playroom. In the garden you can watch a squirrel.

The only inconvenience was that sometimes during the week the electricity shut down on unespected moments. But lucky enough it could easily be fixed by turning the mainswitch outside the fence.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review Paul. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the electricity issue, as explained previously, this was due to the new meters that the electricity company installed at all local villas immediately before the summer season. We have work scheduled for later this month, which will solve the problem... Best wishes : )

Great villa!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great vacation in the villa! Everyting we needed was present. The house was clean and there were nice towels, made up beds, toiletpaper, dishwashersoap, good pans, garbagebags etc... The wifi is very good and fast. But the best part was the fantastic private pool!

The owner, Kevin, is very approachable and helpfull. There are two big supermarkets and nice restaurants in Cheste which is only a 7 minutes drive.

Goed onderhouden huis met een prachtige tuin.

  • 4 of 5

Very relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

We have had a wonderful and relaxing week in Las dos Tes! The house was clean, the beds were nice and fresh and for our 7 month old baby a baby cot and baby chair were available. The property offers a lot of privacy and the surrounding is nice and quiet. You see some neighbours around you, but still you have a great feeling of freedom. The property has a beautiful garden, with lots of nice fruit trees. When you enter the garden, it actually smells like nature, which immediately gives you a holiday feeling.

The only disadvantage is that you really have to look hard for restaurants.

But in the end, we had a perfect week and if you are looking for a week to relax in a nice surrounding, this is the place to be!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review Marieke. We are going to update our villa manual with some more local restaurant tips for those that want to eat out a lot. As you know, we provide some tips by e-mail before guests arrive, which include El Càdec Restaurant at Mas de Canicattí (about 5km away), which is a fabulous gourmet restaurant in an amazing location. We also provide restaurant tips for the city of Valencia, the beach at Malvarossa and also El Palmar (Albufera). Unfortunately, rural areas of Spain are not great for food lovers, in terms of finding lots of good restaurants, but we know a few and will include these in our manual.

The villa is situated in the countryside west of the city of Valencia between Villamarchante and Cheste. Ideal for relaxing away from the crowds and hustle and bustle. Local towns and villages have regular fiestas, which are lively family affairs with colourful parades, lots of eating and drinking and the odd firework or two. In the local town of Buñol, the world-famous food fight 'La Tomatina' is held at the end of August, involving 5 tons of tomatoes and several hours of mayhem! For something more civilised, there are the wine-producing areas of Utiel and Requeña, so why not indulge in a wine tasting trip and purchase some of their fine wines. Only 45 mins drive away is the cosmopolitan city of Valencia city with its stunning architecture, exclusive bars and restaurants. They city centre is quite compact and you can walk between most of the tourist attractions. A short cab ride from the city is the port area with its open-air terrace bars overlooking Malvarossa beach.

The main sporting events on the calendar are the Moto GP finale held around the end of October each year, which is a 4-day party in the town of Cheste a few kilometers from the circuit.

There is also the Valencia Open 500 tennis tournament in the city, which is an ATP event and features many of the world's best players.

Golf: The villa is situated about 20 minutes drive El Bosque golf course and 40 minutes from El Saler golf course. These are both fantastic golf courses and the facilities are second-to-none.

The El Bosque Golf Club is perfectly located a short drive from the villa. It was opened in 1975 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. who has designed some of the world's best golf courses. As a result of this, the club has hosted some of the most important international championships such as the Open 'El Bosque' (Volvo Tour), the Mediterranean Open, the PGA senior of the European PGA and the Queens Cup. If you wish to make a reservation call them on 0034 961808000 or send an email.

The El Saler Golf course sits beside the Mediterranean Sea within the pine grove of the same name. This course is considered one of the best in the world of golf and is a regular host to European Tour events, including the Spanish Open.
