This spacious and well equipped penthouse apartment is located in the beautiful community of San Juan de Capistrano. The apartment is fully compliant with Decree 28/2016, of 2nd of February 2016 of Tourist Holiday Rentals (viviendas con fines turísticos), the Registration Number is VFT/MA/07144. The apartment which nestles in the foothills of the Almijara mountains has a large, sunny, south facing balcony with superb views of Nerja. The apartment has been refurbished throughout and consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (master bedroom en-suite), separate lounge, dining room and kitchen. There are air conditioning units (which also provide heating) in the lounge and each bedroom. The larger than normal kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave and a washing machine. The lounge has 2 sofas, cable TV, DVD player, radio, CD and a wall safe. The balcony is fully equipped with a BBQ area, sun beds, reclining chairs, dinning table and chairs. Retractable awnings and parasols provide welcome shade in summer. San Juan offers a wide range of facilities, including a large communal pool, a small shallow childrens pool, poolside bars, restaurants and a mini-market 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

San Juan de Capistrano & Nerja: San Juan is an ideal location for a quiet or family holiday. Our apartment is a 5 minute stroll away from the central area which contains 2 supervised swimming pools which are open from Easter until the end of October (one of which is for small children and completely separate from the main pool), 2 restaurants (open all year) several poolside bars, and a mini-market (Easter to end October). The main pool has a grass terrace with impressive views over Nerja. Jeeves, our management company will deal with any problems or questions that you may have during your stay is located at San Juan de Capistrano next to the pool and mini-market. A regular bus service into the town centre runs well into the evening. Parking is available, and access to the apartment is via a small flight of approx 12 steps.

Andalucia: Nerja is ideally situated to explore central & eastern Andalucia. One of the main attractions is Granada's Alhambra Palace. The Alhambra was the palace-fortress of the Nasrid Sultans, rulers of the last Spanish Muslim kingdom and is one of the most exciting, sensual, and romantic of all European monuments, make sure you book your tickets as soon as you arrive as the number of daily visitors is limited. The drive up to Granada takes you though the Lecrin valley with it’s groves of oranges, lemons and almond trees, the latter being a riot of pink & white blossom in late winter. Just before you enter the Lecrin Valley you'll pass the road to Orgiva and Las Alpujarras, made ‘famous’ by Chris Stewart in his book Driving Over Lemons. Other attractions within easy reach are Alhama de Granada (the site of a thermal spring open to the public), Ronda (located astride a dramatically beautiful tajo, or gorge), Cordoba and Sevilla. For the more adventurous, day trips to North Africa are available

The first time that we saw the apartment is was vacant as the previous owners had just moved back to the UK and they had it was untidy and they had left a lot of thier belongings in it. However, it was the size of the apartment, the balcony and the fantastic views over Nerja and the surrounding countryside that won us over immediately. We looked at a few other properties, but we always knew that this one was the one we were going to but, and we havn't regreted it for one minute since

  • Both bathrooms were fully refurbished in early 2006 and each has a very large shower, wash basin, toilet and cabinets with electrical connections. One of the bathrooms is on-suite to the master bedroom.

The facilities in our apartment are quite different from many that you will find on the Costa del Sol in that the kitchen, dining room and lounge are separate rooms (although not with doors). Most other apartments have these facilities all in one with what they call an 'American Kitchen', which is not much more than a worktop and a sink. The kitchen has approx 12 feet of work top and the cupboards on the walls have 14 doors. These facilities mean that there is a very large space within the apartment to complement the large balcony, which will mean that everyone can enjoy their own space during the holiday.

One of the best I've stayed in

This is a large well equipped apartment which was well suited for our needs.Communications with the owner were excellent and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Its probably a bit big for only two of us but was great to have two shower rooms,never a queue for the loo !

It is in a nice complex with all amenities needed and only a short distance to walk/bus into town.

It is at top of a hill as with a lot in the complex which to us is not an issue.If that's a problem maybe a bit more research before you decide.

I would certainly recommend it and will hopefully use it again

Owner's Response: Thank you for the excellent comments. San Juan is a large urbanisation (500 apartments and villas), but due to the pueblo style it doesn't feel like anything like that large

Spacious, spotlessly clean, lovely terrace.

Stayed here for a week in July/August. Loved this apartment was extremely clean, spacious, everything as described , and we loved the large terrace and made full use of it late into the warm nights relaxing with a drink. Views from the terrace were fabulous and it was very peaceful. The San Juan complex was very pretty and well kept beautiful flowers and plants everywhere. The pool area was nice and also well kept, plenty of sunbeds and space to sit on the grass. we have stayed in a lot of self catering apartments over many years and this apartment and complex is one of the nicest we have stayed at. We came to have a relaxing chilled out week and that is exactly what we did. Weather was beautiful and plenty to see and do close by. We were a family of three 2 adults and a teenager, but we saw a lot of young families on the complex and by the pool, although it was busy it still never seemed to crowded. We enjoyed the beaches and the balcon in the evenings lots of bars and restaurants, or just sit with an ice cream and people watch. We would highly reccomend this complex, and this apartment. Excellent communication and customer service from the owner and efficient and friendly service with the management company on site no problems whatsoever. I would definitely book this again in future if I came back to Spain.

Owner's Response: Again, I am pleased that the guests found our villa management company helpful. This is very important for us, as they are our eyes and ears (and friends) when we are not in Spain. The firm is small (owned by a father and daughter) and are based on San Jan de Capistrano. If you have a problem you can speak to the person who owns the company face to face and not with an employee in an office on the telephone.

Nice sea & mountainviews, good furnished & showers

We stayed in several appartments in Nerja San Juan di Capistrano. This appartment is very well furnished. 2 bathrooms and great showers. Big kitchen with all equipment. The view at the sea and mountains is nice. There is wifi in the house! It's 5 min walk to the supermarket and swimmingpool and 20-30 minutes walk to the sea. It's better you rent a car or scooter. Nearby you can do the "rio chillar walk", an absolutely must done! As well as kayak on sea, horseriding to Frigiliana. There is also a barbecue on the terrace and a black cat came to visit us. This appartment is big enough to stay with 8 people and if you treat it as your own house you will have more fun out of it. We get every saturday new blankets and towels and nice Spanisch ladies cleaned the house. I would recommend this appartment for families with young kids who loves the Andulusian nature or a few couple of friends. Not suitable for 'partyanimals' In that case it's better you rent an appartment in the centre of nerja.

Owner's Response: Although this review states that the apartment is big enough to sleep 8 people, it does not. There is a one double and two single beds. It is big enough for a possible to rent a small 'camp bed' for baby cot, both of which can be rented separately from our villa management company. I would agree with the comment about party animals, but I would go further and say that if you are a party animal don't go to Nerja, go further down the coast, west of Malaga or to one of the Spanish islands. Nerja is a quiet, family resort.

Absolutely stunning place in beautiful Nerja!

Had a fantastic time in this apartment. Very spacious and well equipped. Amazing terrace with the most beautiful sunrise / sunset you have ever seen! (Winter months). Very calm and quiet location - yet still very close to everything you need ie. shops/restaurants. Also decided to spend New Year's Eve in Neja - best decision ever! Friendly people, lively atmosphere and really not expensive at all! Lots of ancient villages around to visit - a must during the colder months. Will definitely be back very soon!

Fabulous apartment

We stayed in this superbly equipped and spacious apartment for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's excellent value for money. The apartment has good sized bedrooms and a huge living area and outside patio with built in barbecue. The apartment is furnished and equipped to a very high standard both inside and out and has cable TV/DVD and a wealth of board games, novels and guide books.

The apartment is managed by Jeeves Management company located on the urbanisation who proved helpful and friendly. We hired a car to get the best out of sightseeing and felt it was necessary although there is a regular bus service into Nerja.

There is a lovely swimming pool set around rocks with several small restaurants scattered around. There are no slides or diving boards making it family friendly without being noisy. Our 9 year old loved it. There are plenty of shortcuts through the lovely gardens that take you to the pool in 3-4 mins - no distance at all and not that many steps.

There is no air con and temps were 35 deg during our holiday but the large size of the apartment meant that it didn't get too warm and there are ceiling fans and stand alone fans which we found to be adequate. The balcony seemed to get the sun all day long and was still v hot mid evening. We enjoyed sitting outside appreciating the wonderful views and sunsets.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Owner's Response: The swimming pool is a busy place, but it does not get overcrowded, or too noisy. There are 2 lifeguards on duty all the time (it is the law in Andalucia for a pool of this size) and in addition to making sure everyone is safe in the pool, they check the pool passes to ensure that everyone is resident on San Juan de Capistrano and that there is no rowdy behaviour (I have seen people asked to leave as their behaviour was upsetting the other people around the pool.

Nerja basks in year round sunshine and combines tradition Andalucian charm with a modern cosmopolitan holiday resort. The pine clad slopes of the Almijara mountains shade the resort, provide a stunning views and is ideal countryside for walkers (but maybe not in summer!!). San Juan de Capistrano is an attractive urbanisation nestling in the foothills of these mountains less than a mile from the town centre. Nerja is a delightful former fishing village nestling amongst the foothills of the Almijara mountain range. The old town is centred around the Balcon de Europa, a stone paved, palm lined belvedere which offers magnificent views of the beautiful coastline. Nerja still retains many of the characteristics of a typical Spanish village with it’s tangle of attractive narrow streets which contain a wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops. In addition, there are several sandy beacheds which offer a wide range of activities or the opportunity to spend a lazy day in the sun.

We are fully flexible regarding the letting periods (many others will insist on Saturday to Saturday, which will make your flight out very expensive). Departure is normally by 12.00 noon on day of departure and access normally from 4.00 pm on day of arrival (other times may be possible by agreement with our villa management company). Prices are per week and include electricity (not long term lets), bed linen and towels (guests should provide their own beach towels). . £100 deposit is required with full payment 6 weeks prior to occupancy. We are flexible and will offer discounts for long lets over the winter months (occupants must pay the elecricity bill separately). Long term lets are available, with prices on request

£100 deposit and the balance to be paid approx. 6 weeks prior to the rental
