tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We are French and We spent 2 weeks dreaming in this house with 9 people including 2 children.

The house corresponds to the description with 6 rooms, 2 shower rooms and 1 big bathroom with shower. The living room is spacious with a large kitchen. The swimming pool is very nice.

The towels and bed linen are provided and it's very appreciable.

We ordered our bread at the camping next door, owners are very sympatiques.

Ray was very available to answer my questions and very accomodating.

Cathy and Mike who run the house on site, are very available and charming. They intervened very quickly during a problem with the septic tank.

It is a very touristic region, with bastides, castles to visit; Canoe, ; Buy local products at the nearby farm ...

The car is essential because the house is isolated.

I recommend this destination and location.

The Barn holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Date should read 6-Aug-2011, and previous to that 21-Aug-2010. Not available in 2012

This summer 2013 will be the 3rd year that our large family will rent The Barn in Castillonnes, needless to say we love it there. It is a beautiful and peaceful countryside location with confortable spacious rooms, and three very good bathrooms. The house is clean, well decorated and maintained.

The previous occasions we stayed we found the swimming pool fantastic, the kids enjoyed it so much they used it from morning till evening when were not doing some activity or another. We also made use of the barbecue quite a bit. While we were there we did quite a lot of cannoning, cycling, walking and chilling by the pool. There were two British ladies who lived nearby that looked after the house, and we found them very helpful and friendly.

We have been going to that part of France for the past 10 years for our summer holidays, and we really enjoy the cafes, markets, delightful little restaurants, cannoning, art galleries, caves with prehistorical paintings, Chateaus, beautiful green scenery and the relaxing pace of life, all of that with great weather.

Maison très agréable à vivre

  • 5 of 5

25 minutes drive from Bergerac airport Castillonnès is situated on the national route 21. It is one of the 13th century bastide towns for which this area is famous. Surrounded by vineyards, sunflowers, walnut groves, prune orchards and the picturesque medieval towns of Villaréal, Eymet; Issigeac and Monflanquin it is steeped in history. There are weekly markets in all the neighbouring places and excellent regional food served in high class restaurants at competitive prices. Villeneuve sur lot and Bergerac are 30 minutes drive in opposite directions and provide not only retail therapy but cultural information about the surrounding region. Bergerac, Duras, Monbazillac and St Emilion wines are produced in the area along with many others giving this region its famous reputation for fine food and wine. The beaches of Arcachon, Biscarrosse and Mimizan are only 2 hours drive away and the city of Bordeaux one and a half hours drive through outstanding countryside and quaint towns and villages.

Other Activities: football, pedalo, canoeing, golf.
