Large luxury villa with 7 double/twin en suite bedrooms for up to 14 guests

Finca La Morera is a very large luxury villa set in five acres of terraced gardens on the slopes of a valley close to Ronda. The villa has been superbly converted from an original Andalucian farmhouse and its outbuildings and now provides comfortable, luxury accommodation for up to 14 guests in six double/twin en suite bedrooms and one twin with adjacent facilities. The principal house has a first floor drawing room with extensive views towards Ronda, a double height dining hall, large bespoke fully equipped kitchen, and two bedrooms. The lower house has a games room with pool table, table football, table tennis, and living area, a home cinema, fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Three more bedrooms are in further separate annexes. There are two private pools - a large infinity swimming pool and a smaller solar heated pool. There are two covered dining terraces, one with BBQ, fridge and sink and the organic fruit and vegetable gardens provide seasonal produce for guests. Part air-conditioned. Local attractions: Finca La Morera is surrounded by stunning countryside where there is something for everyone. The medieval, Moorish city of Ronda is close by with its historic attractions, museums and galleries and an abundance of small bars and restaurants. The famous Ronda bullring is one of the oldest in Spain. It's museum charts the history of bullfighting and a few times during the year bullfights are still held. The historic city of Granada with the glorious Alhambra is an interesting day trip with a train service from Ronda taking about two hours. Jerez, famous for its sherry bodegas and Andalucian dancing horses, makes for a delightful excursion as do the magical cities of Seville and Cordoba.

The beaches of the Mediterrnean are approximately one hour ,and the Atlantic approximately two hours driving distance and a fast ferry ride will take you to the excitement of the souks of Tangier, Morocco. The Roman ruins of Ronda La Vieja and the famed Paleolithic caves are both very close at hand and well worth exploring

Activities: The beautiful Andalucian countryside surrounding Finca La Morera is perfect for exploring by bicycle. We have two mountain bikes foir guests to borrow and more can be hired in Ronda. Guy Hunter-Watts, whose books on walking in Spain are renowned, is close by and often available for advice or guided walks. Several tennis courts are available nearby; also canoeing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing 20 minutes away at Zahara. Some of the best golf courses in the world are less than an hour away with a new one scheduled to open soon in the Ronda area. The Ascari race track, a fifteen minute drive, is an exciting venue providing an opportunity for larger groups to race a variety of sports cars. Riding stables in our local village provide a number of horses for trekking in the Serrania de Ronda. Wind surfing at Tarifa and skiing in the Sierra Nevada are also possible.

Finca La Morera has featured in The Mail on Sunday as one of the ten best villa rentals in Spain and The Independent Traveller magazine listed the house in their selection of the five best Andalucian hideaways. What a wonderful holiday we all had at the Finca and it was a joy to stay there. All so comfortable, fantastically equipped and everything worked! We all had huge fun and a great birthday celebration and everyone loved it. We have all stayed in many private villas over the years and we can honestly say that La Morera beats them all.

It was great to be able to roam through the lovely garden and to pick the fruit and vegetables and to outwit the dog near the spring! thank you for being so helpful when booking and asking for advice, it all worked liked clockwork.

a very special place

i stayed at finca la morera 3 years ago but forgot to write a review until just now when a friend of mine mentioned he was going to Ronda and immediately the memories of our stay at finca came flooding back

this is a spectacular home in every way - large, comfortable, luxurious but in a slightly rustic and unshowy way. we stayed here in a large family group with kids and 3 generations and all had an amazing time. finca has many lovely touches that distinguish it from most other homes of its kind - the outdoor deck with a huge sweeping view of the valley, the ivy growing on the walls, the archway and cobblestones in the entrance,the four poster beds, the games room and more. all the bedrooms are in different buildings so there is so much privacy and peace

i could write forever but suffice to say - one of the best properties i've ever stayed in, i would recommend it to anyone for any occasion

Absolutely wonderful!

My husband and I have rented several excellent properties throughout Europe and Finca de la Morera is definitely a favorite. For this trip we were a group of 3 related families with teenagers. All agree we were thrilled and delighted with our stay.

The property was very clean and charmingly decorated. It has the authentic feel of a Spanish farm complex, but with every modern convenience. The 2 dishwashers and clothes washers were especially helpful for such a large group as well as the many drinks fridges. It was also unusual and convenient that every bedroom had its own bath.

We have several serious cooks in our group and they found the kitchen very well equipped. The use of the property’s extensive vegetable garden and wine cellar was an added bonus. The vine terrace was our favorite spot for large family dinners.

The views and gardens are lovely and spacious. There are many terraces and secluded spots to settle in with a book, or take a nap in a hammock.

This property is ideal for families with teenagers. There are lots of things to do: badminton, two pools, games room, SKYTV.. Our teenagers quickly took over the games room next to the infinity pool, with it’s terrace and separate kitchen as their own space, providing independence for them and peace for their parents. Also, the area is very safe, so teens can venture forth on their own without cause for worry.

The location of the house affords many opportunities for day trips both near (Ronda) and far (Seville or the Costa del Sol). There is a restaurant/bar within walking distance and there is plenty of shopping and dining within 10-20 minutes by car.

This is the first property we've rented with caretakers on site, and we were happy to discover that this was a great advantage. Freddy and Alan are friendly and helpful and we found their services indispensible: from picking up guests at the airport two hours away, to setting up outings such as hiking in the national forest and horseback riding. Their advice on everything from where to park in Ronda to suggestions for daytrips saved us time and hassle. Our cooks took a break one evening so we hired Freddy to cook and serve a delicious tapas meal. Alan retrieved one of our family members who’d become lost driving home by going out in the middle of the night to lead him back. They definitely go above and beyond the call of duty.

This luxury, large villa is situated towards the end of a single track country lane some 3 kilometres from the town of Arriate and about 8 kilometres from the historic, medieval town of Ronda. Malaga, Seville and Jerez airports are all approximately an hour and a half drive with the resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banus and beaches less than an hour away. The historic towns of Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Jerez are all between one and a half and two hours, as is the Atlantic coast and the city of Cadiz. Gibralatar and the windsurfing resort of Tarifa are a similar distance with Morocco and the magic of Tangier a further half hour on the fast ferry .The stunning Serrania de Ronda, where our luxury villa is situated, are famous for their magnificent views, wonderful walking and the charming 'white villages' of Andalucia.. There are dozens of golf courses in the region, some of which can be reached in about 45 minutes, and the recently opened Ascari Race Resort is a fifteen minute drive.

Other Activities: motor racing; hot air ballooning, horse riding, tennis, golf, walking, cycling, wine tasting

Golf: There are many of the best golf courses in Europe situated here in Andalucia and the nearest to Finca La Morera and Ronda can be reached in approximately 45 minutes. Farther afield - about an hour and a quarter drive - can be found spectacular courses at Antequera and Jerez, many with rather lower fees than the many found on the coast. We have available at the villa golf clubs which guests are welcome to borrow during their stay

  • All bathrooms have twin basins except for Bathroom 4 and Bathroom 7 and they all have heated towel rails. Two of the bathrooms have a separate shower as well as a bath. In the master bedroom, as well as a large shower room, there is a glamorous roll top bath within the bedroom. Each bathroom and bedroom is individually decorated and all are provided with plenty of towels, pool towels, hairdryers, and luxurious Neal's Yard toiletries.

  • There are three double bedrooms plus three bedrooms which can be either doubles or twins. All have en suite bathrooms. There is also a seventh twin bedroom with adjacent facilities. Bedroom 1 has an adjoining ante room with a day bed suitable for a child and Bedroom 6 has a sofa bed in an adjoining open plan living area. Two of the bedrooms are situated in the main house with a further two in the lower house and the remaining three spread over the separate ancillary buildings. All bedrooms except for one, either have direct access to the gardens or their own terraces or balcony. We also have two travel cots available for children up to age 2. . All bedrooms have fans and three of them also have air conditioning available..

Three of the bedrooms can be made up as king size doubles or as twin bedded rooms Two travel cots and two high chairs and a baby bath are available and Bedroom 1 has an ante-room with a day bed suitable for a child. Bedroom 6 has an open plan living area with a sofa bed. The main kitchen is equipped for entertaining large numbers - two dishwashers, a large range cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, two additional fridges; ice machine., Magimix, electric blenders, etc. A separate laundry room has two washing machines and two dryers. The house is double glazed throughout with open fires in principal house. Central heating and air conditioning (3 bedrooms) can be provided at a small supplement. Complimentary organic seasonal produce is available from the garden and a small 'bodega' is stocked with a selection of wines for guests to purchase. 2 bicycles, 4 tennis rackets, and 2 sets of golf clubs are provided. English speaking staff in adjacent cottage.
