Great chalet!

We spent a week this summer in the Berner Oberland at the chalet in Därstetten. The house is clean and spacious with a great view to the mountains. I would recommend that you come by car as it is not within walking distance of grocery shops or restaurants.

The house was beautiful and our family enjoyed it thoroughly. The only minus is that there are no shutters or curtains so my kids woke up as soon as the sun came up.

Highly recommend for a week of relaxing and gorgeous scenery.

Superb chalet and picturesque surroundings

We (5 adults and 2 young children) spent one week in this beautiful chalet in April 2016. Booking and contact were super. We were warmly welcomed by the caretaker. The whole chalet is amazingly handcrafted, it is in a good condition and everything works well. Three spacious (you might also say sparsely furnished) bedrooms and two well functioning bathrooms (one with a shower cabin and one with a large bathtub) provided enough space and privacy for all of us. The living room is spacious, filled with light and comfortable with stunning views over the Simmental. The kitchen works well and there are enough cutlery and cooking items (as well as leftovers such as pasta, condiments, flours, oils) to prepare a good meal for six. We missed only a microwave oven. Washing machine/tumbler worked well, as well as the Internet. You can also sit outside on a terrace and enjoy the sun until late afternoon. There is also an outdoor bathtub, which we did not use - we had snowfall during three days and nobody felt like bathing outside. But the snowfall made the scenery even more spectacular!

You should be aware that due to the wooden construction - even though beautiful and warm - the rooms in the chalet are not sound proof at all. You hear almost everything between the rooms and also between the storeys. We as grandparents/children/grandchildren were not bothered, but in another situations we might find it cumbersome.

The whole neighborhood is beautiful and would be a cliche if it were not for real! It is also very, very peaceful up there - if only cow bells do not disturb you. The drive up to the chalet and parking at the chalet are steep and require a four wheel drive or snow chains when snowing. A good supermarket (although without baby food!) is just a few minutes drive away below the chalet (you can also walk there, but the way back up to the chalet requires a good condition).

All in all, we were very pleased with everything and would certainly book again!

"Our Christmas vacation s...

"Our Christmas vacation stay could not have been more charming and enjoyable, beginning with a lovely "wilkommen" sign and poinsettia that greeted us in the kitchen. Due to snowy weather (and to be on the safe side), we parked our car in a free lot at the base of the mountain, and Silvia the house manager graciously picked us up and helped us get settled in. She cheerfully acquainted us with the house and could not have been nicer! The photos of the chalet do not begin to do it justice; it was gorgeous, spacious, and immaculately clean. The fireplace/heating system kept the house especially warm and cozy through the winter days. The rooms have sweeping, unobstructed views of the mountains, and the tiny community is quite peaceful. We were able to take in some wonderful hikes, snowshoeing and sledding within steps of the chalet - very convenient. Silvia also told us that skiing is a 10-15 drive away, although we chose to take it easy. I definitely hope to return one day!"

Wunderschönes Chalet in den Bergen

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt. Das Chalet ist gemütlich und man fühlt sich sehr wohl. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet (eine Kaffeemaschine haben wir nicht gefunden, dafür aber 2 Espressomaschinen). Alles ist sauber und ordentlich. Der Ofen zum selber Feuern rundet das Wohlfühl-Gefühl ab. Die Lage ist wirklich spitze, wenn man Ruhe haben möchte. In etwa 15 Minuten Autofahrt ist man in Thun und in 20 Minuten im Skigebiet Zweisimmen. Supermärkte haben wir in Därstetten nicht gesehen und waren in Thun einkaufen. Wir werden sicherlich nochmal hierher kommen und das Berner Oberland genießen.

Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour dans ce chalet.Bien agencé,spacieux et très propre...rien ne manquait.Tout fonctionnait parfaitement et les aménagements sont vraiment tres confortables...La vue est magnifique et on est au calme.

L' autoroute est à environ 15 minutes. Trop d 'excursions et de visites à faire dans l 'Oberland Bernois.Il faudra absolument qu ' on revienne...

From Bern, take the A6 highway in the direction of Thun, and then towards Zweisimmen. At the end of the highway, continue in the direction of Zweisimmen until the town of Därstetten. After the train station and a restaurant, turn right in the direction of Nidfluh. Follow the road until the hamlet of Nidfluh. On the left side, above the road, you will see the Chalet. After the road closure, turn left and drive to the Chalet.

All year round, many activities are possible from the Chalet Nidfluh. The Bernese Oberland offers countless outdoor possibilities, such as hiking, climbing, biking, kayak, and so on. At the same time, there is a major offering of cultural events in Thun, Bern, Interlaken, Lenk, or Gstaad. Along the Simmenthal House Trail (Hausweg), of which our Chalet is a part, discover gorgeous houses, many from the 17th century such as the Knuttihaus in Därstetten town. In Oberwil, you can see prehistoric caves and find signs of the Celts all around.

Electric bikes, which can be rented from the Stockhorn cableway, are much-loved. In winter, the ski regions of Diemtigtal, Lenk, Zweisimmen and Gstaad offer well-tended ski slopes, cross-country ski trails, winter hiking trails, and toboggan runs. In Diemtigtal, ski touring fans come to enjoy themselves; families with small children find ideal conditions on the Grimmialp for skiing and skating. For ski fans, the ski regions of Zweisimmen, Gstaad, and Lenk are not far away, with their infinite possibilities for winter sports. Recommended websites:
