About Neal Elinoff

My husband and I purchased this exceptional condo because it was the BEST location in the core. Right next to the new new, Madelaine Hotel, it has restaurants within 10 yards and the gondola is only 150 yards away! We've fixed it up so it's comfy and when we bought a house about 2 min away, we kept the condo so we could have it for friends when they visit.

p.s For security reasons, all bookings done over the telephone must be through my direct cellular number 970.708.0679. We bank through Alpine Bank in Colorado. We never will ask you to send money through Western Union or send money out of the country!

Our Business license number per town of Mountain Village is #16

Why Neal Elinoff chose Telluride

We live in Telluride so this is our home! We hope we can share it with you.

What makes this condo unique

Location! Location! Location! Private ski lockers and a roof-top hot tub make this the best for families. Also, the two sofa's are "comfort sleepers" made by American Leather. They are $5000, super comfortable beds. They feel just like a regular bed.

2 Master Bedrooms, 3rd Bedroom can 'lock-off' for added privacy. All bathrooms have spa products including nourishing shampoos, conditioners, body wash and lotions for high-altitude skin care. The sofa in the LV and on the loft are "comfort sleepers" made by American Leather. They sleep like regular king size (LV) and queen size (loft) beds. Very comfortable. You won't know it's a sofa

Great stay in the village.

The location cannot be beat! Neil, the owner, is great to work with and everyone had a great view and great time. The place was huge for 4 people and no one bumped into anyone else. Although we did not have much time to watch TV, the ROKU tv worked great. We loved our time there.

Great for multigenerational families

  • 4 of 5

3 bedrooms with full baths on 3 different levels plus loft makes this an ideal spot for a multigenerational family as each family has its own privacy but then comes together in the living area. Plenty of closet space, full washer and dryer, full sized frig and large gas stove make the living easy. Location cannot be beat: walk to the gondola to go into Telluride proper, plenty of fun things for younger children right in Mountain Village and lots of good hiking right out the door.

This comfortable unit does have a few flaws -- dishwasher didn't drain so we resorted to washing by hand which was okay. Toaster didn't work properly but we found another in a cabinet which did work. The outdoor grill was unusable because it had not been cleaned for quite a while (responsibility of tenants according to sign) and it would be nice to have coffee filters, more paper towels. But these are small irritants. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay immensely.

Condo needs an update

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here and loved the location! It is ideal in Mntn Village; close to everything. We however had no toilet paper when we arrived and had to go buy some. Also, the kitchen has plenty of dishes and pots and pans and glasses, but very little utensils for cooking and eating. It also had no pot holders and only one kitchen towel. They did provide shampoo and conditioner, as well as laundry and dish washing detergent. The master bath tub did not work well at all, hardly any water would come out. The place could just really use a fresh coat of paint. It was well furnished, just needed an update. Contacted the owner who was nice but couldn't help us as he had a lot going on. NO A/C in unit, so if you are staying in the summer fans are a must. Two worked and two were broken.

In town for the Bluegrass Festival. Condo was in a beautiful setting and so convenient to town with the free gondola a short walk away. Condo was clean, spacious and well appointed.

Overall impression: Old, run down, dirty. Not well taken care of. Great Location.

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Location, location, location --> Very easy walk to ski school. Ski lockers - easy in and out. MEDALLIONS: Total bonus, especially if you want to have a short ski day or skip a day altogether. Garage parking - warm and close (clearance is 6'8"). Pet friendly. RokuTV/Cable TV. Wireless network always worked.

I read the reviews before our stay and was giving the owner the benefit of the doubt, however we were disappointed in the shape of the unit. The owner was easy to work with when we were in contact with them. I would suggest that they check in on the unit more frequently; be sure the cleaning company is deeper cleaning, and maybe even a maintenance helper would be useful.

Cons: Very run down: The cleaning company was there when we arrived, however the unit didn't smell fresh, nothing looked clean. The furniture is very old in the living space. Obviously old, outdated. The walls look dirty. The silverware drawers are dirty. We moved the sofa to make more room in the living space and there was a lot of dust and dirt underneath. The soap dispensers have built up dust on them even. The washer and dryer are stacked; the dryer vent isn't connected and the wall is covered in dryer dust. There is a step stool to use in order to operate the dryer, however being short I had to use one of the bar stools. There are minimal spoons, we ran out all of the time for 6 of us. A lot of extra things taking up space; 3 coffee pots. One that we used and then one that looked dirty in the cabinet and one in a closet on the tile floor. Just seemed junky. The sofa bed in the top floor bedroom is a mess! We couldn't even open it yet the frame is completely exposed under the cushions...appears non-operational. There was a portable bed in the closet that we were able to use. Portable fans in every closet, however they are filthy. We had only one hand towel. Could not find hot pads in the kitchen or dish cloths. It needs a lot of TLC. Its in such a great spot though! So sad that we were disappointed!!! Overall it doesn't seem as though pride is taken in the ownership of this unit.

Unit could be in better condition

  • 2 of 5

Unit was not found quite as advertised. It needed better upkeep. No midweek maid service. Several light bulbs/lights were burned out or not working. Kitchen counter top was not made out of countertop material. It looked like it was made out of the same rough surfaced floor tile that was present, impossible to clean, it could be a health hazard. Second floor bath had only a towel rack for one towel, other one was broken. There were bottles provided of bath gell/shampoo/

conditioner in each shower/bath tub, but more than one were empty or missing. At least one hand soap bottle was nearly empty. Second floor bedroom need a second nightstand light and another floor or ceiling light near chest. Loft area on second floor was counted as a bedroom, but there was no chest for storing clothes, only a closet. Second floor carpet was torn and stained when we arrived. It was fixed during our stay, which was inconvient. That carpet was in need of replacement. Third floor fold out couch was not useable, several springs to hold mattress in place were missing. No facial tissues were provided, we bought 5 boxes of our own. Had to ask for wash clothes, and there were no hand towels provided, only bath towells. Lock on sliding door off of living room was broken and would not lock and seal, as such it leaked some outside air. Most of the window blinds needed pull and tilt systems repaired or replaced, as they did not function as designed. Living room furniture was too large for the space. No instructions for any of the TV/Cable System as to channel numbers. Only found one humidifier, there should be one per floor. Contact with owner was made and he did respond to some of the issues(soap and wash clothes mostly). I requested a price adjustment, but did not received a positive response. I thought the extra $500 for the President Day Week was not warranted under the circumstances and the condition in which the unit was found. We were 5 senior men who required a bed each. Be careful if you need more than 5 beds. Our stay was 2/18 - 2/25/2017. On the other hand the location was nearly ski in ski out, ony a two to three minute trip to lift, and the skiing was very good on the mountain. Most of the better dining, however, was a 25 minute trip by a free gondola into town.

Owner's Response: First he says, "No mid-week housekeeping". Correct, we don't provide mid-week housekeeping. This is typical for a VRBO. It's in the listing and he was informed. A few light bulbs out? Look for the switches. Every single light in the condo is a high output LED and every one of them works. The slate counters are in deed the same material as the slate floors. I didn't know that after spending $80,000 on furniture, updating the counters with slate and redoing the floors with slate that I should have consulted with him to confirm that I can't use slate on counter tops. And no, sealed stone is not a health hazard. The loft area is NOT counted as a bedroom in the listing, it's counted as a loft with two twin beds. WTF is he talking about? The housekeeper was locked out of the supply closet on changeover day so we brought & refilled all the spa products before his first night. He complained about the carpet and I sent a carpet company to spot clean and re stretch the carpet the very next day. The TV is a TV. Turn it ON, select your channel. It is brand new 60" HD with roku and maybe he's unfamiliar with that (not in the photos). Regarding the lack of humidifiers. I thought we had thrown them all out. They are useless at altitude in cold temperatures and don't provide them at all. He asked and I told him that. The real problem is that he didn't want to pay our asking price from the beginning. I shouldn't have rented to him when the writing was on the wall He wanted to pay less than my already low prices and I said, "no". Then he said, "how about not charging me sales and lodging taxes?" and I said, "no, because they have to be remitted whether or not I collect them". And then he said, I'll go ahead and take it if I can pay 20% now and the balance before we get there" and I said, "no, I'll pass". He rented anyway, but I should have refused. I could tell that he was looking to get something for nothing and there wasn't anything that was going to make him happy, so when I refused to refund him $500 because of the late spa products getting refilled, he threatened to write a terrible review. Here it is. Does a 2-star review on a million dollar condo that included two ski passes, makes sense? His effective lodging rate was less than twenty five hundred bucks for the week when you factor in the ski passes. That's a huge condo for less than the price of a hotel room. He's a jerk. Next time I'll let the management company's fleece him.
