Around Paleocastritsa: The villas are situated in a quiet olive grove above the road on a cliff edge, 5 mins walk from the beaches and small supermarkets. The Oddyseus Hotel (a small family taverna) just below us offers our guests free use of their swimming pool and other facilities (2 mins walk). They host a Greek dancing night every week. From the door of Villa Nola you can walk (45mins) on a very old Byzantium pathway up the mountain to the village of Lakones. The views are amazing over the blue Ionian sea to the Albanian mountains on a clear day. There are tavernas and the famous Bella Vista cafe and viewpoint. The scenes are breath taking. There are many small picturesque, interesting villages within a few kilometres drive where you can experience the Greek village life at first hand and visit their churches/museums. There is a bus that runs every 30 minutes from Paleocastritsa to Corfu town in the summer. Corfu town is 25 kms away. The Delfini taverna below Villa Nola is perfect for meals and a swim.

Corfu Town : Kerkyra ( known as Corfu) The café at the Liston was built by the French in 18th century. The Palace of St. Michael and St. George to the left of the Liston, was built by the British and used as the official residence of the Governor. Prince Philip was born there.St. Spiridon's Church, home to the island's patron 'mummified' saint, is just behind the Liston. The church is impressive and worth visiting, but ensure you are suitably dressed. During the summer there are nightly musical performances of Sound & Light. (The second world war British hospital at the centre of the fort has now been turned into a music school.) The fort is worth a visit during the day. Facing the Liston Esplanade is the Old Fort which was built between the 6th & 19th centuries. The narrow streets radiating off from the Liston, house small shops, churches old mansions, museums or a secret garden. Shopping in all the small shops is a delight and eating at the small tavernas.Wireless Internet at the Villas.

Greek Way of Life, Flora and Fauna : Timing. Greeks do not expect quick service and often frown upon food that is too hot! Waiters will not rush you and will rarely deliver food in the same order as it was placed. Dishes sometimes arrive as and when they are ready - just sit back and relax and you will soon adjust to the Greek way of life! Corfu is small enough to be friendly and large enough to provide you with a never ending change of scenic beauty. And it is never difficult to get from one part of this island paradise to another. Drive around Corfu you can discover the magnificently scenic East coast to the equally impressive, more rugged and quieter West coast. The drives are picturesque, past quaint little villas and thousands of olive trees. The roads aren't crowded, except around the town centre for despite its centuries of history and its splendid beaches and sunlit bays, Corfu remains unspoilt. The olive groves at Villa Nola are 2,000 years old. NEW ADDITION for Villa Nola 72 sq metre patio with stunning sea views and king size beds in both villas! Our rates are as advertised all local taxes and running costs are included. No extra charges from the Owner.

About Jane Victoria Thomson

Family has owned the land since 1969 and we have slowly built the two villas and invested in the land and have protected the beautiful views. I am British but have lived abroad for 40 years. Born in Nottingham and grew up in Cornwall and worked in London and abroad. I am happily married with one child and two step children. I have had the honour and pleasure to work for such companies as Vogue magasine (Conde Nast) in London, The Guardian, Emirates Airlines and am now since 1989 working in Muscat, Oman and Dubai, UAE as a Business Consultant. I visit Corfu often and have two wonderful people helping me take care of the property, they are from a nearby village. Yvonne welcomes you and Jimmy (Dimitri) helps with the garden and is our handyman. I love my home and its location and views and love sharing it with guests who understand what we have to offer in our simple, Greek way.

Jane Victoria Thomson purchased this villa in 1969

Why Jane Victoria Thomson chose Corfu

The location is unbeatable and you have the local support team to look after you if you require their help. Paleocastritsa is considered a famous beauty spot and has 5 beaches , all within walking distance, shops and minimarkets and a swimmingpool a short two minute walk away for use free of charge. Self drive or accompanied boat rides to all other bays, diving, paragliding all manner of sports, tennis and golf and Aqualand not far either. Lovely old byzantium walks to other villages and Pheonecian ruins too. We have it all and the best views on the island as well as peace and quiet! Gorgeous gardens and BBQ's , very well looked after, lovely destination for a great holiday in comfortable villas with unbeatable surroundings and views.

What makes this villa unique

Registered with and member of the Greek Tourism Board MHTE number 0829K121K0201900. The 72 sq metre patio in front of Nola really adds to the whole and is just the place for meals and sundowners with breathtaking sea and mountain views! A 300 degree around panoramic view! Characterful patio wall against the mountain side with old Greek architecture and design. King sized beds now in both villas. Stephanie is cosy and homely nestled in our 2000 year old olive trees with shade from the hot sun. Both villas are very much loved and it shows. You can read from our reveiws how much!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had a really super holiday, thank you and am now back at work. The glitches we encountered were really so minor that they had no bearing on the fun and friendship I enjoyed. Von is so professional that she had everything sorted and smoothed over in such a way that everyone affected simply felt glad that she was around! Not many people give as much as she does to their clients. I can't imagine a big company being able to offer the personal attention that one gets from you and the folk you have engaged to represent you in Corfu.

I would love to stay at Villa Stephanie again next year on the equivalent dates in June 2015.

I had a feeling when I booked the Villa Nola that it was the perfect holiday for my husband and myself.

It was excellent and I have to say that I have never been so relaxed on a holiday.

Everything we needed was there including the very warm welcome from first of all George the Taxi Driver and then Yvonne. Nothing was too much trouble for her. I felt at home both in the villa and in her company.

The rooms are lovely and well air conditioned (which I needed because it was hot). The linen was clean both in the bedroom and in the kitchen. The oven was great and I think I will be getting one like that at home:)

We didn't watch much television because there was so much to see from the wonderful veranda which is one of four places to sit around the table outside. So depending on the heat of the day you can either sit in the sun or the shade.

There is nothing like reaching up and picking a lemon. Oh and how sweet they are. Oh and the herbs are gorgeous. I now put oregano on everything.

We are going back next year for 6 weeks and I cannot wait. My children and grandchildren are coming for the second holiday.

I can highly recommend this Villa and I would mark it 11/10 xxxxx

Owner's Response: "Relaxed, gorgeous and excellent" those are the words I picked out of the lovely review and those are the feelings, I as the owner, would expect to hear when you come on holiday to stay with us. Its a simple calculation: as long as you read the reviews and descriptions plus the emails I send you. As long as you use the Hospitality Manager that Home Away send you after booking that I have so faithfully filled with great information then there is no reason why you too can have a holiday to remember and use equally great adjectives to describe the time you had:-) We welcome you all for next year. Bookings have already been accepted. I always keep the calendar updated! You are very welcome for 2016 to Villa Nola and Villa Stephanie.

My view of Stephanie

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed in this little place 3 times; a week in September 2013 followed by fortnight's stays in 2014 and 2015. The position is ideal if you and your fellow guests are fit enough to ascend and descend the steps and sharp walks from the village. This is not a place to stay if you are without a car or if you are not sure of foot and can't manage a quick ascent from the shops. I am a lady of a "certain age" and have not used a car in Corfu. Therefore, if you think you can wander, as I do, from the shops and village, up into the fabulous olive woods above this pretty, postcard village, I can tell you it is worth the short climb. Look back across the clear Aegean waters. Breathe in the air from the mountain and get back to the cool veranda of Villa Stephanie where you can watch the butterflies on the Bougainvillia and still hear the sea. The place is magical. Don't tell too many of your friends,

Owner's Response: Great to have the litle villa appreciated so much:-) It is lovely and indeed if walking is a problem although the steps from the road are friendly if you have difficulty in walking then a car is best! You can drive and park on the property with no problem. If Relaxation and beauty of your surroundings are paramount and of course nearness to all facilitiesa, beaches and shops then Stephanie is for you! You are most welcome!

what a charming place

  • 5 of 5

What a luck we had to find this place. After being picked up by George at the ferry terminal in Corfu city we arrive at our place for a week, right there on the slopes of the mountain above Paleokastritsa, probably the most beautiful spot on Corfu, in the middle of olive tree groves. The house is small but has all you need, you have the choice between a shady patio underneath olive trees and the sunny terrace with the stunning view of the bays below. If you get hungry (or thirsty of course) you have the choice to cater for your self in the fully equipped kitchen or to walk to one of the restaurants in the vicinity, only 5 to 10 minutes away. And there is a wide range of different places. And last but not least - the landlady Jane: she is such a nice lady taking care of things that might be missing (were there any?) and to make your stay comfortable.

In summary: we'd go there any time again (if we had the time)

Tranquil Villa in hills!

  • 4 of 5

Villa Nola is a treasure.

The property is JUST as advertised and while there was only two of us we easily could have slept 7.There is plenty of privacy from the adjacent property Stephanie.

Villa Nola was clean and well appointed. We loved the location, view of the harbor, proximity to beaches and tavernas.

George met us at the airport and brought us direct to the villa.

Yvonne was there to greet us and give us the lay of the land in regards to the villa as well as local offerings. The owner arrange for us to have some groceries in place and Yvonne graciously provided those for us. We also had her cell in the event we had questions and found her helpful, humorous and responsive. The internet, she warned had been temperamental and we told her the next day it was out. Yvonne came to meet a technician the next day to resolve the issue promptly.

The ancient trail and walk to Lakones is a very doable workout but worth the trip, the walk to AngelaKastro is a HIKE but we loved the trek with a stop for lunch in Markones.

Best sunsets can be viewed at the Tango! We found Ari and Nikos at the Belvedere make you feel like you are in their home! We love the vibe at Me Gusta and the eggplant saganaki at Alipa at the port is a MUST have( we stopped three times to cement our love of it)! Yvonne easily offered to arrange for car, bikes or boats but we also found our way around easily without transport and arranged the boat rental with Spiro ourselves at the marina for $60 Euro for the day. (A must do if you are inclined!). We will most definitely return. Thank you for sharing your lovely Villa Jane. Bravo

Lovely cottage with great outdoor space

  • 4 of 5

Probably situated in one of the nicest villages on the island of Corfu. We travelled widely and couldn't find anywhere better. Villa Steph is located in s semi rural community on the edge of the village approx 5 min walk to beach. Garden is lovely full of flowers in April / May. Inside the house is comfortable with a practical kitchen. Lounge could do with a sofa and the bedroom is a bit cluttered with stored cot and high chair but is a good size. Good shower with plenty of hot water. Overal your going to be spending most of your time outside.

The property has a shared access with its sister property Villa Nola which overlooks Villa Steph' s garden space. Villa Nola's access means your neighbours are constantly walking past your eating area which was a bit annoying, Could be a problem if you were hoping for a quiet break and Villa Nola has a noisy family with kids! We were OK as Villa Nola was empty for the first 1/2 of our hols and a quiet French family were there for the second 1/2.

Annoying neighbours dogs barking at around 6.30 each morning.

Housekeeper Yvonne very helpful and available for advice.

Owner's Response: Great to hear the comments of a satified guest for our Villa Stephanie and Paleocastritsa which really is a very beautiful corner of Corfu, probably the most beautiful! The villa is a good size, of approx 55 sq meters and much loved and the setting is indeed in a garden of olive trees and flowers! We do have a sofa in the lounge but only a single one and two armchairs plus a small dining area but most perople eat outside on the lounge veranda or the garden patio. Nola guests do have to walk past but can use the back path behind the villa. The trees do give some privacy to the garden and most guests do not see each other that much being out and about a lot:-) If there are dogs wandering about in Spring, they are wild and are collected by the Municipality, they are around in the winter, you do not usually see them in the summer at all. Overall I think we provided exactly what we describe and hope you can come and stay with us and really enjoy what is so lovely about our home and surroundings. You will be made to feel very welcome and in a home from home:-)

perfect setting for relaxing holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea and mountains from the magnificent patio. Surrounded by lemon and olive trees. Lovely garden and very comfortable and clean villa. A short stroll to an amazing little beach, with resturants, cafes and a lovely walk up to an old monastery.

Jane the owner provided alot of info and very accurate directions prior to our arrival. She also organized Yvonne ( her manager on site ) to buy a few provisions for us on arrival. Yvonne was great with settling us in and answering questions about the area.

Like where to eat and drink. Places to visit and where to shop.

All in all we had a good and restful stay in the best part of the island.

Would definately recommend this area of Corfu.

Thank you to Jane for renting us the villa and thank you to Yvonne for your help.
