Spacious West-facing front-line apartment occupying a premier secluded position in the popular and well-maintained Playas de Fornells resort.
Access is down a few steps through attractive communal gardens. Spacious living/dining area, with kitchen off, leads to large balcony with table & chairs. LCD TV with Sky+ (you can record programmes) and DVD/VCR. One double bedroom with remote-controlled ceiling fan & full en suite bathroom and one twin bedroom overlook the sea and the third smaller twin bedroom with bunk beds looks onto a quiet private courtyard with table and seating. Large George Foreman electric grill. Further separate full bathroom with washer and drier. New sofas, electric oven and gas hob installed in 2010.
No traffic or resort noise. Small shingle-beach cove a few minutes' walk away, with the unspoilt Cala Tirant beach about 500 yds away. On-site management.

Fornells and Fornells Bay: Fornells is a village at the mouth of the protected Fornells bay, 5 km away, with a most attractive palm tree-lined harbour, mainly used by the local fishermen. It has various souvenir and other shops and excellent restaurants, most of which face onto the harbour or the bay. The king of Spain has been known to visit, sometimes eating at the waterfront Es Pla restaurant. You can visit the C19th British-built watchtower by the cliffs to the North.
The bay is some 5 km by 2 km and is an excellent, safe location for motor-boating, sailing and windsurfing, all of which are available for casual hire. Courses can be booked in advance. The bay is a popular destination for sailing and motor yachts.
Other towns to visit: Mercadal is an interesting local town nestling below Monte Toro, which, at 300m, is the highest point on the Island and which has superb viewpoints and a café, and which you can see from our balcony.
Mahon is the capital of the island and is 25km away. It has excellent shops, a cathedral, gin factory and one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Harbour boat trips available.
Ciudadela is 30 km away and is a beautiful port of Moorish design looking towards Majorca. It has spacious squares, elegant buildings, a fine cathedral, markets, excellent shops and numerous harbour-side restaurants.
Other activities: There are lots of very good walks in the island. Bird watching is apparently very good. We often see pairs of cormorants fishing below our balcony first thing in the morning, as well as various varieties of gull, red kites and sea eagles.
With a car you can access the following activities within a 20 minutes’ drive: go-carting, trampolining, horse riding lessons and waterslides. There are over 100 beaches on this small island, many of which are accessible by car.

We were happy in the apartment and it was exactly what we needed. The rooms were all clean. Super balcony views. Very quiet in this September period.

With 2 really good sized double bedrooms and 1 bunk room this villa was a perfect size for our family of 6 (we have 4 young children). The villa is nicely kitted out and although the kitchen is quite small it has everything we needed. There is lots of storage space and the beds are really comfortable. It's hot at night but the ceiling fans really helped us stay comfortable. The wifi was good! The outstanding feature is the view: the balcony looks over a beautiful bay, down to the excellent local beach. The master bedroom (with very good en suite) also overlooks the bay. We spent lots of time relaxing on the balcony and just taking in the scene.
The local beach is in fairly easy walking range - there is a pleasant path which takes you through the local "communities" or groups of villas. The beach was fabulous; lovely clean sand, not too busy and with a very safe sea. There is also a stony cove very near to the villa with fabulous snorkelling - the kids saw octopus, starfish, eels and loads of beautiful fish.
Local shops and restaurants are quite limited. The shops in particular are expensive and fresh produce is thin on the ground. For these reasons a car is recommended in order to reach the local supermarkets.
We spent a couple of days in the water park which is part of the "Carema" complex. The kids loved the water park - it's just right for kids up to about age 8-9yrs. We kept clear of the rest of the complex though - definitely not for us.
There is a local swimming pool just down the hill which is excellent and is free to use. This pool is also quite close to the beach where you can hire canoes and pedalos at very reasonable rates.
The owner of the villa was very helpful and communication before our visit was very good. Overall we had an excellent holiday and we were very happy with the villa.
Menorca ist eine wunderschöne Insel, die man am besten mit dem Auto oder zu Fuß (cami de cavalls) erkundet. Fornells ist dabei ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt. Wir waren 5 Erwachsene und 1 Kind und das war schon etwas eng zudem die Kleiderschränke ziemlich voll waren mit den persönlichen Sachen des Eigentümers. Aber Herr Hamer war die ganze Zeit über sehr hilfsbereit und jederzeit erreichbar, hat geduldig alle Fragen beantwortet und hat sich bereit erklärt etwas "auszumisten". Das Beste an dem Appartement ist sicherlich der Balkon, mit dem unglaublich schönen Ausblick auf das Meer. In dem Appartement ist alles vorhanden was man braucht, es sind sogar kleine Tische und Stühle für die Kinder vorhanden. Die zwei Schlafzimmer sind zweckmäßig eingerichtet und der Blick morgens aus dem Fenster ist unbezahlbar. Die Sonnenschirme durften wir ebenfalls benutzen. Die Anlage ist ruhig und schön gepflegt. Im Ort befinden sich Restaurants und Supermärkte und ein kleiner Aquapark falls man so was mag. Der Strand Cala Tirant ist zu Fuß gut zu erreichen sogar mit einem Kleinkind (3 Jahre). Noch mal vielen Dank für alles.
WE SPENT A WONDERFUL WEEK IN THIS VERY WELL EQUIPPED LOCATION; THE SEAVIEW IS FANTASTIC AND DIFFERENT EVERY MORNING.
The apartment has excellent facilities and was very clean and well kept. There are many restaurants, bars and supermarkets within walking distance, which was useful as we didn't have a car. In particular we enjoyed the food, atmosphere and prices at the Okapi.The beach at Cala Tirant is also ridiculously close (about a 5 minute walk) to the apartment and is great for bathing.
My favourite feature was the view from the balcony and I enjoyed many day and evening sitting gazing at the bay and the beautiful sunsets over the hills opposite. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to others!
This is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday. The apartment is very well appointed and with a stunning location. We especially enjoyed the marvellous sunsets which we watched from the balcony, drinks in hand! It is ideally situated for exploring the island and with a good selection of restaurants nearby.
The apartment is in a marvellous front line position, away from roads and noise, with an excellent view over the sea, the nearby beach and the hills behind. It is very well furnished and is a great base for a holiday in Menorca, with nearby supermarkets and restaurants and also having the beautiful fishing village of Fornells very close.
Playas de Fornells is a most attractive resort built in traditional Menorcan style. There are several supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars within easy walk. Scuba diving available in the resort. There are several hotel complexes with excellent outdoor pools which you can use. The nearest is about 4 minutes' walk. The sea is nearer, cleaner and often warmer! Car hire (available on-site) is recommended, though not essential. There are hourly municipal buses to Mahon and elsewhere.
