About A. & C. Kempf
We are both from Baar (Canton Zug / Switzerland) where we was born and raised. We met in a handball club and today we have a son and a daughter and are living still in Baar. We are both working, but looking forward to spend more time on the beautiful island. Today our hobbies are curling (Alex) and silk painting (Cornelia). Some of my work hang in the villa. Our two friends, Antonia and Yiannes, take care of our Villa Kamares, as it would be their home! We are happy that now they belong to our family - her son Rigas is married with our niece Andrea since 2006 and are the proud parents of little girls Sophia and Aylin.
A. & C. Kempf purchased this Villa in 2002
Why A. & C. Kempf chose Sporades
We are quite accidentally 'landed' on the island of Skopelos. 1990, before our son started his school education, we wanted to make a longer trip through Greece and have searched in advance 4 houses. For the last 3 weeks we needed a big house with 4 bedrooms, because friends wanted to visit us on Skopelos. We have seen an ad and asked the owner for few photos. Internet was not yet usually and so we get a photo album. When we saw the photos from Skopelos, it was absolutely no matter where this island is, we really wanted to go there! Never, we have regretted! And many friends visit us again and again! We went then often 2 times a year to Skopelos. And in 1998 we had decided to buy land to build a house. One of our nieces is an architect and she has drawn our 'dream' according to our ideas, and a friend on the island has realized our 'dream'. If you are interested in the history of the Villa Kamares, please visit our website, there you will as well find lots of photos. That a house is ready, you can not really say. And so we have always extended a little, changed or simply renovated. We always try to make for us and our guests as comfortable as possible. We have equipped the villa with all sorts of tools, some toys are available for children. If you are missing something, please let us know! How do you say? 'There is always something to do, So go ahead!'
What makes this Villa unique
We invest always a lot of money to our "paradise" to keep in good condition! We installed rain gutters and a water softener. A well-known Island artist has painted ceramic plates for us with the name of the villa. We have ordered more furniture in a carpenter in the village over the winter 2005/06. In the winter 06/07 we have installed at the entrance a gate and built next to the villa a big retaining wall, a little wall below, to get between the large square so that we were able to make a large terrace. In winter 2008/09, on the large open space with plates of Pelion was incorporated a large garden chess. At the pool side, we build an additional staircase, so one has better access from both sides of the villa. We have over the winter 2009/10, built a large pergola on the terrace (pool side), so there was a big shadow place that is perfect in a hot summer. Funny detail about this pergola; the wood came from 'Donna's beach bar' from the movie 'Mama Mia'! Our friend Yiannis could take the wood from a friend who had removed the bar and was allowed to keep the wood. In winter 2010/11 we let demolish the small stone barbecue. The place we let enlarge and we let built the same wall like the wall on the lower chess terrace. During the winter 2011/12 we let built a large covered summer kitchen with large grill and pizza oven, so now one can be outside even when it rains. In front of the lower, middle bedroom we built another small pergola. During the winter 2013/2014 we renewed the retaining wall below the pool and planted many fruit trees. 2015 a renovation of our pool was urgently needed! At the same time, we switched from chemicals to salt. We bought a pool cover and a pool cleaning robot. In winter 2015/2016 we had built another retaining wall. Since spring 2018 we produce our own electricity. The carport is equipped with 30 solar panels.

We had a great 10 days at Villa Kamares. The photographs do not do it justice - the outdoor space is amazing, with lots of places to find sun or shade throughout the day, all with a spectacular view of Skopelos. The owner was really helpful with suggestions for hiring a car. The drive up to the villa is very steep, so you do need to be a confident driver. The manager met us off the ferry and took us to the villa and the housekeeper Antonia was so friendly and helpful. We loved Skopelos as an island and used the local buses to travel to all the different beaches- the buses were excellent and meant that we did not need to hire a second car for our big group. I really recommend this villa to any large group wanting a holiday in Greece. It was fab!
THANK YOU for being our guests!
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay in our Villa Kamáres and you could so enjoy a great holiday. We think reality is more beautiful than our pictures because they cannot capture the atmosphere! We are glad that reality is more beautiful than our pictures! :-)
Even after 18 years we are not tired of the spectacular view. Often we sit with a glass of good wine on one of the terraces enjoying the peace and the fantastic view. You should see in September the full moon rise over the Palouki - priceless!
When building the house it was very important for us that each bedroom has its own bathroom so that one has more privacy. So the house is very well suitable for 4 couples, like your group or as well for 2 families.
Since we do not live on Skópelos, we are also very glad that our friend Antonia looks so well to the house as well as to our guests - she is a stroke of luck for us, because we know that she does everything so our guests can spend a pleasant stay in our Villa Kamáres.
You are right, on Skópelos a car is not absolutely necessary. It has really good bus connections to Glossa and back and also the taxis are not too expensive. And there are also tour operators that offer nice excursions by small buses.
If you feel like visiting Skópelos again, you are always very welcome in our Villa Kamáres!
We wish you and your friends a nice rest summer!

fantasic villa with superb standard throughout....the family adored it
Germanic style and quality, excellent location and probably best views of the island. The daily pool and rubbish collection service just added to a very professional letting.
The owners went above and beyond in assisting with contact details for water taxi and car hire.....which without could have easily added stress....but all was excellently arranged and confirmed.
A pleasure to deal with and without doubt an excellent villa.
We are very happy that the whole family enjoyed your stay at Villa Kamáres and that you enjoyed a great and hopefully unforgettable holiday on Skópelos!
To a great holiday belongs also a relaxed preparation and we are always happy, if we can facilitate our guests with our tips and information the preparations for the holiday a little bit.
It was a pleasure for us that you were our guests and we would be happy to welcome you again on Skópelos. We wish you all the best!

The villa made our holiday complete. Amazing views and outdoor space, relaxing holiday
We are pleased that you were our guests and that you enjoyed your stay in our house!
It is very important to us that our guests feel comfortable!
Caution: if you were once in Skopelos, you will come back!
Even the entrance to the port of Skopelos town, or Skopelos Chora as it is called in greek, will fascinate you! This harbour one of the most beautiful in the Aegean Sea. Skopelos Chora was built on the same place as the ancient capital of the island, Peparithos, which was constructed with traditional island architecture into the slope. The town is part of the Greek national heritage and as a whole it is protected. It is wonderful to stroll through the narrow streets of Skopelos Chora with countless flowers.
The island of Skopelos is different to other Aegean islands. It is very green and thickly wooded with pine and Aleppo pine. There are beautiful beaches, mostly gravel, with crystal clear water and idyllic anchorages. Even in midsummer, you will find numerous lonely little beaches by boat. Visit Sendoúkia graves or go to the rock with the chapel of Agios Ioannis (one of the locations from the 'Mama Mia' movie).
Other Activities: Paragliding at sea, diving in Skiathos
