MARAZUL, next to Kempinski Hotel & Laguna Village, & close to Selwo Safari Park

The MARAZUL-RESORT is literally a stone's throw from the sea, and comprised of only 72 ultra-luxurious apartments arranged in an appealing 'V'-shape, facing South. My apartment (E5) is provided with the intimate privacy that one may expect from a private villa, and with the views normally not.

The MARAZUL apartments encircle a unique area of exuberant & colorful tropical gardens, a spectacular sculptured 'infinity' swimming pool, shallower areas suitable for children to play under lovely wooden bridges, flowing canals, fountains, cascading waterfalls, a giant overflowing bowl, sunken deck-chairs, jacuzzi beds, and romantic thatched cabanas with lovely comfortable armchairs & settees.

This super-luxurious ground floor apartment is perfectly situated just 5 privacy steps up from the edge of the central pool area, with its own private garden. The sliding glass doors from both lounge and master bedroom lead out into a sun-drenched terrace & private lawn, from which the views over the MARAZUL pools & Mediterranean sea beyond are just breathtaking !

This apartment encompass the external charm of traditional rustic Andalusian architecture, yet with every concession to provide the ultimate levels of comfort, convenience, stylish outdoor living, and security.

No effort or expense has been spared to provide :-

Top of the range air-quality, heat & cool control system throughout the apartment;

Under-floor heating (with independent control to every room, including entrance hall & bathrooms);

Infinitely adjustable sunken halogen lighting incorporating 'mood-lighting' in lounge & dining area;

High quality piped music system throughout the apartment, including bathrooms & terrace.

There has never been a real need for the security measures we have, but that's maybe because we've got all angles covered, for peace of mind. The employment of 24 hour security staff is our biggest community expense, but this maximises, for all concerned, the feeling of well-being on the MARAZUL-RESORT, enhancing the relaxing and care-free ambiance of this peaceful haven. So, for the security conscious, here are the measures we maintain :-

24 hour security staff, who you'll likely think of as your friends by the end of a holiday at MARAZUL.

A very simply operated alarm system interconnected to our security staff in the reception area.

Video & audio entry system. (See & talk to people outside the gates before you let them in).

Magnetic key-cards for all access doors (Like a hotel).

Your own space in an underground car park with remote-controlled gates (you're given a zapper) with a lift up from it.

Two 5-lever locks and peep-hole in front door.

And safety deposit box in master bedroom.

The vast sliding glass doors of both the lounge and the master bedroom lead onto the extensive terrace with private manicured lawned area in front, onto which the Sun shines all Morning, and until well into the afternoon. There's a dining table, 6 comfortable chairs, 2 loungers (with big thick cumfy cushions) and two deck-chairs (also with big thick cumfy cushions) on the terrace / lawn;

The perfect place for alfresco breakfasts in the morning;

The perfect place to “spread yourselves out” during the day;

The perfect place for a romantic candle-lit dinner in the evening ‘till late.

The large area provided by the terrace and our private lawn can be rendered 'child-friendly' by the easy erection of the provided trellises to cover the openings in the front garden wall, and a gate to guard the steps down to pool-side. We provide 2 cots, 3 high-chairs, a buggy, and a baby bouncer for our youngest guests at no additional cost.

Our young guests find our unique water features such as the meandering canals and underwater jacuzzi deck-chairs, a delight to play in. Shade can be provided by our thatched cabanas when required !

My guests have full & free access to MARAZUL's own leisure club with heated indoor pool, fully-equipped gym, saunas, etc.

MARAZUL has its own pool-side cafe / bar open at peak times, normally June to September.

Next door to the MARAZUL-RESORT is the world-famous KEMPINSKI RESORT HOTEL, providing more 5* facilities including pool-side restaurants & bars.

And just beyond that is the exotic 'LAGUNA VILLAGE', a unique concept of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops & swimming pools built RIGHT ON THE BEACH !

Then 'Cruisos', a cheerful beach-bar just beyond 'Laguna Village', providing good-value food & regular live music.

And our newest restaurant / bar....."The Golden Mile", just a 3 minute walk away. Enjoy grilled sardines and barbecued steaks right on the beach, professionally served !

And then there's a Thai buffet restaurant just 9 minutes walk away towards Estepona, and another two local tapas bars nearby.

We provide a shopping trolley with which to visit the local Aldi store, just 5 minutes walk away. There are small shops in both the Kempinski Hotel and Laguna Village.

With a double bed in the master bedroom (en-suite), two singles in the second bedroom (next to second bathroom) and the super-king-size bed which miraculously and almost effortlessly unwraps itself (complete with bedding!) from the superb settee in the lounge, we'll hopefully have all your sleeping arrangements covered.

We've tried to think of everything to provide YOU with YOUR perfect holiday.

Having almost reached retirement age, I was looking for somewhere my wife & I liked, somewhere my children (now in their thirties) would like, and somewhere my Grandchildren would love. I found it on the MARAZUL-RESORT.

Why BRIAN COLLING chose West Costa del Sol

This is the only Spanish property I own now, but I have owned another. Twenty five years ago, before buying the first, I took note of three bits of advice I was given regarding buying a property in Spain. They were

.....LOCATION.....LOCATION.....LOCATION..... !

So both properties I bought were as close to the Mediterranean Sea as the law allows, with magnificent views over it. It was good advice.

What makes this apartment unique

Whatever the weather, there's a comfortable place for you in apartment E5 or elsewhere on the MARAZUL-RESORT.

My terrace offers a choice of Sun or shade throughout most of the day. When the Sun clears the garden, about 4.00 in the afternoon, it's just a few steps to the loungers around the pools if you wish to continue your Sun therapy.

In the off-season, when the inhabitants of most other MARAZUL apartments are nowhere to be seen, this terrace continues to be a lovely sheltered place to sit and watch the weather !

Our very effective air-conditioning system ensures that the rooms remain at exactly your chosen temperature, at all times of the year. Additionally we have underfloor heating for the cooler months, with thermostats in all rooms including bathrooms, entrance foyer, and kitchen.

And for the odd day of inclement weather, we have our own leisure club with heated pool, gym, saunas, steam room, and spacious guest lounge.

Our cabanas come in very useful too. They're like having your own play-room / romantic getaway / garden hut / wooden lodge / beach-tent.....but whatever you imagine them to be, they make great retreats for a bit of piece & quiet to read your book, for a family get-together, to play cards in, or just as an escape from the odd windy day.

Everyone is happy on the MARAZUL-Resort, at whatever time of the year.

"We stayed in Brian's apartment (E5) which is everything you see on the website and a whole lot more! My husband and I along with our 2 and 4 year old girls stayed here for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped with lots of extra touches which made us feel completely at home. The Mar Azul complex is beautiful and it's hard to put into words just how nice it is. We would sit on our garden terrace, overlooking the ornate pool and gardens which is finished off with a sea view - pretty perfect! The girls loved the pool as it has lots of segregated shallow areas for them to play safely. Our 4 year old also really appreciated the "high five" she received from the lifeguard each time she swam the length of the pool! The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Brian is the perfect owner - the information he sent us prior to our holiday was comprehensive and covered all we needed to know and he even phoned us a few days before our departure to make sure we had everything we needed. He also provided us with details of Paco who we arranged to pick us up at the airport - you can also hire a car from him. Paco is a lovely chap and was at the airport waiting for us (which was a welcome sight!). To conclude, I wouldn't hesitate in booking this apartment again."

We have stayed at Brian's appartment 3 times and we would not stay anywhere else on the Costa Del Sol

Facilities are great, everything you need, and a great pool.

My son is in a wheelchair and we do not find it a problem.

I will book again in the near future, and look forward to staying there.

Anyone looking at the website and wondering wether they should book,

every detail on the website is exactly as Brian describes it.

Goos location, great apartment

This is a very well equipped apartment with many extras that are not normally provided. The standard of cleanliness and fittings is excellent with clear instructions for pretty well anything you can think of. It was pleasing to have some provisions already present as we arrived very late at night. The security guy Kris (welshman actually) was very helpful and in the dark that was no small benefit.

Overall excellent value for money and we would consider staying again.

beautiful Mar Azul

We have just returned from 4 weeks in apartment E5 at the Mar Azul resort, and would highly recommend it . Brian, the owner has thought of everything, the result is a well furnished, high spec. apartment with a comprehensive set of utensils, a real home from home.

The complex is well looked after and very secure, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Taxi into Estepona is approx 7 euros, and the bus 1.4 euros. Laguna village, where you will find a few designer shops and several excellent restaurants, is about 15 minutes walk.

We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Property and Resort

After receiving very comprehensive and helpful instructions from Brian on the directions, apartment and things to do in the area, we were really looking forward to a well earned weeks break.

I must say, we were NOT disappointed in the least.

We arrived at the resort following the clear directions without any problem. We were met by the security staff at the reception area who despite feeling and looking very unwell (He had a fever but still offered service with a smile) gave us the keys, showed us the parking area, helped with luggage to the apartment and showed us around.

Upon entering the apartment it was clear that we had made the right choice. It was immaculate with every attention to detail we could wish for, including high quality of fixtures and fittings and top of the range electrical goods along with essential foods to start us off on a wonderful week. The wifi was also very good and reliable.

We then opened the patio doors onto a lovely terraced area and a magnificent pool and gardens.

There were loungers. outside eating area table and chairs, even beach toys and air bed for the children and adults (We didn't have children with us) but if we did Brian would have made the terrace very safe and secure and we would have been very comfortable to let our grand children crawl/walk around outside.

We ate out every night at Old Estepona Town and Laguna Village where you will find very high quality yet affordable restaurants with brilliantly friendly staff everywhere.

There is a supermarket just a few minutes drive away, along with beach bars and Laguna Village a few minutes walk away,

We booked taxi's a number of times (so we could have the odd glass of wine without worrying) and they always turned up on time and were spotless vehicles.

We visited Ronda - Very nice and well worth it.

Marbella - We didn't like it.

Puerto Banus - Very modern Marina with high class Restaurants and shops.

Mijas - We loved it, very quaint and very Spanish.

Estepona - We loved it too, lovely cobbled side streets with many potted plants and flowers.

Estepona Marina - OK and some cheap eateries.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brians apartment to anyone looking for something a bit special.

Fabulous apartment, pool and resort!

We spent a wonderful week here in August 2015. We were 2 adults ad 3 boys aged between 7 and 12. The boys had a great time in the pool and its surrounds. We loved the sea views, pool, comfortable sun beds and access to the great restaurants at Laguna beach. What a great evening walk down the beach to dinner!

The apartment is superbly stocked and I must make comment on the excellent quality mattresses and pillows. Also the sofa bed in the living area is huge, comfortable and very easy to pull out and put back again.

We will definitely return to this part of Spain and would certainly return to Marazul and Brian's apartment.

Having panoramic views over the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, with the African Coast & Rock of Gibraltar on the horizon, the outstanding beach-side MARAZUL-RESORT offers super-luxurious apartments in a stunning setting.

MARAZUL is a relatively compact, cosy, self-contained resort, a jewel in the crown on this lively coastline, a peaceful oasis in the midst of all the action.

Only 72 attractive apartment surround a fantastic pool and semi-tropical garden areas, likely the finest on the coast. These pages describe my raised ground-floor apartment, number E5, the most reviewed on several web-sites including Tripadvisor.

The location of the MARAZUL-Resort makes it the perfect choice for a holiday on the Costa del Sol, and our attached leisure club offers our guests a heated pool, well-equipped gym, sauna & jacuzzi.

This sophisticated and peaceful haven is at the heart of Europe's favourite recreational area, with all the following outstanding features within a palms reach:-

Right next door we have the 5 star Kempinski Bahia Hotel, fully fitted with facilities to match. Fine dining & plush garden bars, all of-course available to my guests;

The ultra-fashionable shops & high-class night-clubs & glorious beaches at Marbella;

The amazing harbour, fabulous luxury yachts, the beautiful people and their supercars, all in abundance, at nearby Puerto Banus;

The relaxing ambiance of the traditional Estepona tapas bars in all the pretty squares;

The most colourful streets in Spain can be found in Estepona Old Town with 40,000 plant-pots bursting with colour ! And right in the centre of town, our brand new Orchid Horse, the biggest in Europe, adding to this floral extravaganza;

The Estepona Murals tour is unbelievable....my favourite, "The Fisherman", extends over the face of 5 apartment blocks !

The spectacular 'Laguna Village' 6 minutes beach walk away, with a dozen up-market bars & restaurants, and offering posy swimming and posh shopping between the necessary periods of sunbathing and cocktail imbibing on the thickest white mattresses in a topless nomad's tent, all built right on the beach overlooking the gorgeous blue Mediterranean Sea.....this is pampering at it's finest;

The magnificent Selwo adventure park just 5 minutes drive away. A REAL adventure for all the family;

The spectacular DRIVE up the very nearby 4,500 feet Los Reales mountain, where you can LOOK DOWN on the Eagles & Vultures !

Visits to spectacular Ronda & Gibraltar will make days out to remember for a very long time, and both are within an hour's drive of the MARAZUL-Resort.

Other local facilities include two tennis clubs within a 10 minutes drive, and, back to practicalities, for shopping we have a new Aldi store just 10 minutes walk away.....shopping trolley provided in the apartment ! And a huge supermarket (Carrefour) just 5 minutes drive away.

If you're a golfer, there are many prestigious championship golf-courses within a six minute drive, all suitable for playing all year round. Here are just a few of them :

There are few locations along this coastline with so much to offer within easy walking distance or within a very short drive, and NONE with our superlative facilities as the icing on the cake.

  • Europe's finest microclimate played a leading role in the design of this master bedroom, which features full-height & full-width opening windows (privacy glass) which lead out on to our extensive terrace, then on to our private lawned area, then down to the pools & gardens, and the sea beyond all that. The view over the sea from the double bed is just delightful ! Watch the fishermen at work in their boats as you have your first coffee of the day in bed ! Large ventilated wardrobes provide more than ample storage space, and are fully fitted with drawers, shoe-racks, lots of clothes-hangers, and a security safe. Additional TV in master bedroom. A brilliantly designed sofa-bed in the spacious lounge converts, at a single pull of a strap (and without having to remove any of it's cushions ! ), into a top quality super-king-size bed, with sheets already fitted. Pillows & blanket are stored in an inbuilt compartment. This apartment sleeps 6 in total comfort.

Surprisingly at first, the Siemens dishwasher, washing machine, & tumble-dryer are nowhere to be seen in the marbled kitchen because they're all hidden behind cupboard doors & under granite worktops. The kitchen is conveniently situated adjacent to the dining area, with feature marble serving-hatch between. A top-of the range hi-fi system, feeding music throughout the apartment (even onto the terrace), Sony DVD, & 42 inch Sony plasma television complete the picture. Free WiFi throughout apartment, including on terrace & private lawn. The garage, apartment, gardens and pool areas are all accessible by lifts & ramps & wide walkways suitable for wheel-chair use. There is a hydraulically operated chair-lift for easy access into the inside heated pool. Daily maid-service available as an optional extra.
