This beautiful, south facing first floor apartment with great views up the Lauterbrunnen valley towards the Brierthorn peak, one of the mountains in the Jungfrau range which forms a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The Staubbach falls which are lit in the evenings are the highest in Switzerland are viewed from the balcony. There are a range of lovely walks, the village centre 10 min, the Trummelbach falls, Schilthorn cable car with access to car free Murren. There is a bus stop close by which takes you to Lauterbrunnen station and connections up to Wengen and Murren or down the valley to Interlaken. The apartment has been finished to a very high standard, it is tiled throughout with under floor heating. There is a well equipped kitchen with granite work surfaces, a luxury bathroom and shower room, dining area and living room. There are 3 bedrooms, one double and 2 twin bedded room, we can accommodate a further 2 visitors with camp beds if required. We have a private garage and bike and ski storage area.

We have a flat screen TV and DVD player with a selection of DVD's to keep all the family happy.There is also unlimited Wifi.

Our apartment has been awarded a 4 star grading by the Swiss tourist Authority and we work hard to ensure that our guests are made welcome and comfortable during their stay.

Winter in Lauterbrunnen

You don’t have to be a skier to enjoy Luterbrunnen in the winter. There are reduced price passes for non-skiers to get up into the mountains for a relaxing coffee or joining up with friends for lunch. Or there are lots of other activities to enjoy including walking along prepared trails, snow-shoe trekking, sledging , paragliding, curling and heli-skiing. Down the valley, lies lively Interlaken set between the stunning lakes and has lovely shops and cafes. It is possible to take a steamer ride on the lake year round. Open-air ice rinks can be enjoyed in Murren, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. Many of the hotels and sports centres offer reasonably priced fitness and spa facilities if you want to spoil yourself.

Spring and Summer. The great appeal of Lauterbrunnen is its location. The valley is breathtaking. The waterfalls that fall from its cliffs have you constantly looking skywards. Summer is when the valley seems to blossom into the spectacular. The cliffs, waterfalls and the White Lutschine, which flows through the valley dominate it. There are hiking trails and cycle trails for all abilities. It is an easy walk from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg at the end of the valley (there is a separate pathway for walkers) and if you don’t want to walk back you can take the Postbus, or take the bikes to Murren and cycle back to Lauterbrunnen. Local produce- cheeses, meats and exquisite breads are a part of staying in the mountains and there's a programme of local events including folk dancing and yodelling to enjoy. The village has tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, minigolf and children's adventure playground. Interlaken provides lakeside beaches and lots of choice for watersports.

About Diarmuid Conaty

We are a Welsh family and have named our apartment 'Hafod a Hendre' which is Welsh for the upland and lowland homes of farmers as they migrate to the uplands in summer with their livestock and back to the valley floors for the winters. The name aims to reflect that this area is a year round destination for visitors with a great choice of activities and facilities to enjoy.

We did have a wonderful time in Switzerland. Your apartment was just lovely, a bit of luxury for the week. We were very comfortable and it was nice to have some games and DVDs for the children too and what a location!

The apartment and the surrounding were lovely. We ice-skated at the rink, rented toboggans from the campsite on

the other side of the river, went cross-country skiing in Grindlewald, took lots of train trips (Murren, Wengen, Jungfraujoch) and had a really good time. The apartment was one of the best we've stayed in - comfortable, warm, well-appointed (especially the kitchen & bathrooms), great view, a very handy free bus from the campsite to town and nothing really to fault it.

  • The apartment has a large bathroom with a ceramic twin sink, toilet, and bath with shower. There are large mirrors above the twin sink and the room is well lit. There is ample cupboard storage space provided under the twin sink and behind the mirror in bespoke cabinets. This room also has a washing machine and clothes drier. In order to provide greater convenience, a separate deluge walk-in shower room, hand wash basin and toilet is provided. Both bathrooms have full wall and floor tiling with comfortable underfloor heating and heated towel rails.

  • Our bedrooms are attractively decorated, spacious, airy rooms. The very spacious master bedroom is set within the roof space and has an attractive sloping pine timber ceiling with an east facing window. It has a large pine double bed with a comfortable mattress. On either side there are bedside tables with reading lamps. There is also a pine wardrobe and blanket box and easy reading chair. A cot is available if required. The 2 twin bedded rooms have east facing windows. Each bedroom has pine beds and bedside tables with reading lamps. The larger twin bedroom is 3.5m x 3.4m it and has a wardrobe. The third bedroom is 3.4 x 2.8m. and has a chest of drawers. All bedrooms have light waffle curtains and external steel blinds.

This Swiss Tourist Authority 4 star, spacious first floor apartment (110m2) with a south facing balcony has a spectacular view of the Lauterbrunnen valley and Staubbach Falls. It lies an easy walk from the village centre and there is a regular bus service, a bus stop is located a minute from the apartment. The apartment sleeps 6. It has 3 bedrooms - 1 double, 2 twin bedded rooms, bathroom with toilet which includes a washing machine and drier, shower room with toilet and wash hand basin, large kitchen, dining area, living room and large hallway. The large south-facing balcony leads from the living room and dining area. It has a table and four chairs to enjoy the view. The kitchen includes lots of cupboard space, oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The living area includes a satellite TV, hi-fi, DVD player and CD player. A garage is available for 1 car and there is heated bike storage. The apartment has been furnished to a high standard.

Just Amazing

This property is just perfect, I would say even better than advertised pictures. We were 2 families with total of 3 kids and we had plenty of space. Location couldn't be better, literally just in from of the waterfall. We spent 5 days and it was a great base to visit all the beautiful attractions from this amazing valley.

Everything was perfect, from the initial information, booking process, payment, arrival and our stay. A big thanks to Diarmuid for all attention!

I definitely recommend this place and also look forward to return in the near future!

Fantastic location - easy access throughout the region.

Home is clean, well maintained, just as described. I would certainly return. Property manager met us the day that we arrived to familiarize us with the home and the area. He shared many recommendations, and we used many of them. The hikes that were suggested were extraordinary - all perfect for our family including kids ages 6-11. This has been a trip of a lifetime!

This is a great apartment for a family or a couple

This is a very clean modern apartment we have returned to a number of times since it was built 10 or so years ago

It's not luxury nor is it as convenient for the ski areas but if you are on a budget you will save 1000gbp compared to a similar apartment up in wengen

The regular and ski bus give great access but actually if you aren't carrying skis then the walk into lauterbrunnen isn't too long

Plenty of space to store car ,skis and bikes (if you come in the summmer ) I'd recommend it as a spacious apartment in the most beautiful of settings. I cannot give it five stars as it's not luxury.

If you want to be skiing from 9 then you will struggle as door to The base of the Eiger is just over an hour so you'd have to get up early but if you are happy to ski from 1030 to the end of the last lift at 430 it's fine

Large, modern, well equipped apt close to bus stop

We stayed as a group of 3 couples for two weeks. The apartment is a really good size, with a great open plan kitchen-dining-living area with a large table and comfy sofas. This meant we all had plenty of space to chill out in the same area. The kitchen is really well equipped for a holiday apartment, we cooked most evenings and had everything we needed. The listing is accurate, actually it seems bigger than it looked in the photos. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The apartment manager Diarmuid was very friendly and helpful, and knows the area very well. There is a bus stop to take you to Lauterbrunnen station or the Stechelberg cable car at the end of the road (1 minute walk) in the morning, it's free with your ski pass. Otherwise, it's only 10 minutes to walk into town in the evening, or there is a good (and good value) restaurant at the campsite only 5 minutes walk away. There is also a small bar and shop at the campsite, and the restaurant also does takeaway. We would recommend the property and would stay again.

Lauterbrunnen is located in one of the most stunning glaciated valleys in Switzerland. The village at 796m (2,612ft) lies on the valley floor and is surrounded by some of the most impressive mountains in Europe. This ’U’ shaped valley which has 500m+ rock faces has a rich diversity of flora and wildlife and an impressive view of the Jungfrau peaks. It is known as the valley of the waterfalls which includes the glacial waterfalls at Trummelbach (10 falls inside the mountain) Lauterbrunnen accesses the famous car free resorts of Wengen and Murren and in turn the Top of Europe train station at the Jungfraujoch and the world’s highest rotating restaurant at Schilthorn featured in the James Bond film.There are good motorway links to Geneva/Zurich/Basel or 3 hours by train and Bern 1 hour by train. Driving from the main Channel ports of Calais or Zeebrugge takes around 9 hours. Eurostar is also an option via Paris/ Basel /Interlaken. If driving via michelin provides a very helpful route plan

Ski: Winter

Lauterbrunnen is an ideal location if you want easy access to the slopes on both sides of the Lauterbrunnen valley. The area lies at the heart of skiing in the Jungfrau Top Ski Region and its three resorts of – Wengen (1274m), Mürren (1650m) and Grindelwald (1034m) give access to more than 44 railways, cable cars and ski lifts, taking you to over 213 kilometres of pistes, more than 100 kilometres of well-prepared walking paths, 50 kilometres of sledging runs and 30 kilometres of cross-country skiing paths. The winter sports pass gives you unlimited travel in the area. Ski hire and English speaking ski school reservation are available in the village. From the apartment you can take the bus outside to Lauterbrunnen station in 5 minutes, then train to Wengen, or take the bus to Schilthorn cable car in 7 minutes. To access Grindelwald, you can ski from Kleine Scheidegg. catch the train in Lauterbrunnen or drive round to Grindelwald.
