'Villa Meleto' is a Tuscan aristocratic residence under family ownership since 16th Century. It has four spacious and typical Tuscan apartments in its historic walls for 2 to 4 persons, and a separate, very large house 'La Fattoria' connected directly to the villa for up to ten persons.
A wonderfully located, commonly used large swimming pool (15x7m), which is up to three metres deep and where you can swim properly, is open for our guests from April to mid October.
Get enchanted by the magical beauty of the villa and our estate. Enjoy the stunning panorama of this unique landscape with a walk through our park between historic statues, boxwood hedges and lemon trees.
'La Fattoria' (for ten persons) is an independent and self-contained portion of Villa di Meleto. In 2010, we renovated 'Fattoria' and blended the historic charm with modern comforts. A special kind of jewel is the spacious kitchen (35 m2) with its historic charm. Tuscan delights have always been prepared on the marble countertop in the centre of the kitchen. Apart from a large dining room with an old large dining table, the home comprises of a living room on the first floor, five bedrooms and three bathrooms. A wonderful, eye-captivating, bright courtyard (110 m2) with direct access from the kitchen invites you with its warm colours to hang around and feast extensively and so does the (commonly used) barbecue terrace with its panoramic view overlooking the Elsa valley up to the distant Apennines. 'Fattoria' also includes a shady terrace under a typical Tuscan loggia, which offers a breathtaking view of the landscape.
The apartments in the villa are rather rustic, but truly unique in their typical Tuscan atmosphere. Those who love old buildings will definitely feel at home here. In summer the thick walls keep the villa from heat, in spring and autumn they can be heated.
'Casa Vecchia Cucina' (for four persons) houses the old kitchen, where they cooked for the aristocratic people in earlier days. We have left it in its original state to a great extent, but added a modern fitted kitchen for your convenience. Two large bedrooms with antique beds (but with modern bed frames and mattresses) and a modernised bathroom complete the apartment. A small courtyard, maintained in Tuscan colours, and decorated with flowers in terracotta pots, adjoins the apartment, where you can sit undisturbed outside.
'Casa Zia Elvira' (for four persons), named after a noble aunt of the family who lived here before when she was visiting, has two very large bedrooms with antique canopies which hang high above the beds (fitted with modern slatted frames and mattresses). It also includes a small kitchen area with fitted kitchen, dining room and an upgraded bathroom. Directly along the apartment adjoins a 100 m2 large terrace, which offers a fantastic view through the cypress trees and into the countryside. The terrace is shared with the neighbouring apartment 'Casa Zio Toio'. If you want to make a holiday together with friends, this combination is perfect. Each family then has its own separate, complete apartment and shares the beautiful terrace. You can also rent just 'Casa Zia Elvira' separately.
'Casa Zio Toio' (2-3 persons) is named after a noble uncle, who formerly was often visiting here. Even this apartment has a large canopy in the bedroom on top of the antique bed, which, like all our beds, is equipped with new bed frames and mattresses. The apartment is designed extremely spacious with 100 m2 of living space. In a niche behind the spacious dining room there is a single bed for a third person. A large kitchen (fully equipped) and a modernised bathroom complete the apartment. The apartment includes a 100 m2 large terrace with panoramic view that is shared together with the residents of 'Casa Zia Elvira' (see above)
Personal atmosphere: The owner of Meleto wants to preserve the typical mix of a manor house representing aristocrats and the Tuscan Fattoria, in farming operation. Meleto is therefore not a sterile resort that is anonymously operated by a holding company. It is rather a place where the family lives for centuries. You will be personally welcomed by the German landlady, who is always available for tips.
Meleto offers you both: Sociability and tranquillity. On the shared areas, you can socialize with other guests. And you can also withdraw and relax in your private area.
Do you dream of a wedding in a land where lemon trees bloom? We offer you the villa, park and our apartment for your wedding. You just need to say 'Yes!' and we will take care of the rest: Formalities, accommodation for your guests, wedding menu, photographers, music, flowers, hairdresser - but most of all: a dream setting!
For your dining pleasure: If you want to set your Tuscan culinary skills free, you have a good grocery available in the area. In Castelfiorentino (8 km) you will find a very well stocked supermarket with fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and many specialties of Tuscan cuisine. At Lido, a small but good grocery store nearby, you can shop even on Sundays until late at night. Smaller and larger farmer's markets are there almost every day in one of the neighbouring towns. If you want to grill, our barbecue area overlooking Tuscany is available for you.
If you do not want to cook, we would gladly suggest you where to find the right restaurant for your taste. From the simple and inexpensive pizzeria on the nearby hill over the typical Tuscan trattoria in Corazzano to the top-class restaurant in Certaldo Alto you'll find something for every taste and budget. We have put together a small list of restaurant recommendations for you, which you will find in your accommodation. In addition, a detailed 'Manual instructions for Meleto' is there for you, with tips for trips in the near and far surrounding, useful tips and aids of all kind and if you still have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always approachable.
Running, hiking, mountain biking in Tuscany: Have you been in Tuscany sometime already? The gently rolling hills and mild climate is an ideal training spot for the whole year. Even in July and August the morning and evening hours offer enough space to enjoy the Tuscan landscape in a different way. A medieval age pilgrim road passes along Meleto: Via Francigena. It is less travelled by, a little bit hilly and unpaved. From your doorstep you can walk past the pines and olive trees, vineyards and sunflower fields, forests and meadows. If you rather love to run on flat surface, you can run below the hill in the Elsa Valley along the river and admire Meleto from below. For long-distance runners, both the routes can also be connected together, without having to spend much time on paved roads. The landlady would suggest you where to go. Do not forget your running shoes! Of course you can also hike or drive on the road with mountain bike.
