In the heart of Burgundy we offer 2 apartments situated in the small village of Avrée, with a stunning view over the rolling hills of the Morvan Regional Parc. The old farmhouse, build in 1900, has been sympathetically renovated in 2009.
Here the calm and tranquil atmosphere will give time to appreciate the natural beauty of the region and explore the many activities and the rich cultural heritage.
Shopping facilities like supermarkets, petrol station, cafes, cinema and shops are within 5 minutes drive in the beautiful village of Luzy. The nearest restaurant is within 2.5 miles (4 km), swimming is available in the lake 6 miles (10 km) away. Due to its location in the heart of Burgundy, you can go on daily trips in all directions. E.g. Hiking in the Parc Morvan, the romanesque town of Autun, the wine regions around Beaune, Macon and Chablis, the cathedral of Vézelay (UNESCO world heritage) and countless castles and churches.
Your hosts: We are a German / English couple and live on the big ground in a seperate house, that we bought a few years ago because of the stunning views. As we ourselves are overwhelmed by Burgundy and changed our academic lives into a tour operating business for this very region, we have a lot of recommandations, adresses and tips available for you. No matter if kitchen or garden, wine or hiking, architecture or fishing, we like to talk about Burgundy - but we also respect your privacy.
Extras: We offer a variety of things to make your vacations as pleasant as possible. E.g. a full fridge with regional specialities at your arrival, evening dinner, guided walking-, biking-, fishing- and wine tours through the area.

The smaller apartment 'Le Charolais' is on two floors. Special attention has been given to the interior decoration in terms of quality and a mix of modern comfort and traditional materials. In the entire house you will find traditional tiles, the dining table has been designed by the owners, old beams have been used above the new windows. The kitchen and all appliances are newly fitted in 2009.
The living room on the ground floor has authentic floor tiling, an open kitchen and dining area. Upstairs you will find a bathroom and a bedroom with oak parquet. All rooms have open views onto the surrounding countryside, the 90 sq ft (8 m²) large patio and the garden afford you a spacious area for relaxation.

We have just returned from an amazing week spent in Burgundy.
We have stayed in "La Marvondelle", which is the bigger of two Gites.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful, it has been converted only recently and to a very high standard. We have stayed in many cottages but this one is by far the best maintained and very clean. There is even a dishwasher (a nice little bonus for the lazy holiday maker).
The location is fantastic, very quiet and relaxing, away from it all. There are absolutely stunning 360 degree views all around property over the surrounding hills and fields, which you can enjoy from the terrace. The terrace itself is spacious and sunny all day long (with parasol), so we were enjoying the views and good weather from breakfast to sunset over the hills.
The owner lives in a separate property next door which is very convenient, and the cottage maintains its own space and privacy for the guest at the same time. Allen has been very charming and going above and beyond to help us with tips and advice on local sights, attractions and wine. His beautiful dog "Ruby" is a real entertainer, a very relaxed and friendly dog, always looking out for us when we were sitting on the terrace late at night enjoying a glass of wine and the stunning sky of stars.
There is plenty to do in the area as well; there is a small lake for bathing and a large national park a short drive away which offers cycling, walking, fishing. All amenities such as supermarkets and restaurants are close by in Luzy and Semelay; and Autun is well worth a visit. As a note to travellers used to London shops: Supermarkets are closed on Sunday, so its recommended to bring some food supplies when arriving late on Saturday!
Being in the heart of Burgundy, we also went on a wine-tour through the Beaune region, visiting vineyards and Beaune itself.
We are hoping to visit again next year to get away from the stress of city life, and would like to say a big thank you to Allen for fantastic weeks holiday.
The gite has been beautifully renovated into two most attractive dwellings. We stayed in La Morvandelle, which is extremely spacious and well-appointed. Lovely flowers everywhere! The terrace surrounding the property is a particular feature with uninterrupted views of the countryside and the cattle grazing in the adjoining field. Allen was a very friendly and attentive host, and Ruby (his delightful dog) called round regularly to see us! We brought bikes with us and cycled four sections of the Canal du Nivernais over four mornings during the course of the week, finishing before the intense heat defeated us! Drove through some very attractive villages en route to the Canal and along its length We had a very pleasant meal at the restaurant in Semelay recommended by Allen, otherwise BBQ'd on the patio each evening (we brought our own, though Allen did offer to lend us his). We would have liked to visit Beaune for the day bit it was simply to hot to contemplate a day in the city. All in all, an excellent holiday in an area we had not previously visited but hope to return to.

Le Charolais was a perfect place to relax and recharge our batteries. We used it as a base for exploring the surrounding Burgundy countryside on our bikes and to access the cycle trails along the nearby canal paths.
Allen and Ruby were the perfect hosts. The cottage itself was beautifully appointed, very clean and well maintained. Our greatest pleasure was to lie on the loungers in the evening with a glass of wine to watch the first star come out. We would highly recommend this hideaway.
Our stay in this beautifully refinished rural hideaway was a great pleasure.
Allen was a charming host during our stay providing us with all our needs, great advice regarding local landmarks, and great conversation.
We especially enjoyed going to the creperie in Luzy, and traveling to Autun and Beaune for the sights. The rest of our time was spent walking and driving through the golden countryside.
If you are looking for an escape with great country views, clear night skies, and the opportunity for quiet relaxation, we highly recommend this location.
