One week in Salzburg
The advert of 2 bedrooms is misleading. It has one bedroom and a sofa bed that takes the whole living room and for such small flat is not nice as no where to seat comfortably except some old chairs to eat. The flat need an update as it has very old furniture, really small and used towels, few cutlery and saucepans, no toaster. Also it will be nice to have wi-feand some English channels. Everything is in German except one in french which repeats the same news all night
Wonderful apartment for single traveler
I had a very nice stay at this apartment. The photos don't really do it justice. It was clean and spacious and in a great location. It is a 20 minute walk into town (with nice views), with access to bus routes. Two grocery stores, a cafe and a restaurant are 1 minute away. It has a nice balcony to sit outside for breakfast or in the evening. The apartment is located in a real neighborhood, so you get a nice, homey feeling.
The owner was relatively easy to reach regarding key exchange, although I don't think additional texts I sent asking a few questions went through, because he never responded. Communicating through the HomeAway app worked the best. In person, he was very nice and explained the apartment and the area very well.
I give it 4 stars only because the apartment is missing a few basics, such as a microwave, a toaster and WiFi/WLAN, which is pretty much essential nowadays. I had to go to the grocery store to use their free wifi, which was pretty inconvenient and also slow. However, for the the price of the apartment, I suppose it evens out.
One tip - I arrived by car and parking is a bit complicated in the area. The owner suggested I park in the Salzburg Süd Park and Ride lot and take the bus in, which was a bit of a hassle. The kind attendant at the parking lot suggested the 2 parking lots on Petersbrunnstr., which were much more convenient and are located between the apartment and Salzburg center. They were perfect for long-term parking and and an easy way for me to get the car if I wanted to take a day trip.
All-in-all a really nice place for a single traveler, I really enjoyed my stay there and my walks into town. I felt like a local!
This was a great place for our visit to Salzburg. It had a couple of restaurants and groceries on the block. The bus stop was across the street which conveniently took us into the city every day. Odd that there was not a microwave.. But we enjoyed the balcony and neighborhood feel.
Lovely apartment next to all amenities/
A clean, light and spacious apartment. The host was very accomodating regarding my early arrival and the handover of keys etc went without a hitch. The apartment is very comfortable, very warm and - if the weather is good - has a lovely terrace that one can enjoy. You can find everything you need within the apartment. DVD player, Speakers, nightlights (! useful for nighttime bathroom visits as it's very nice and dark!), fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, clothes line... it was great. The aparment is situated right next to the Herrnau shopping center which is also fantastic as you literally don't need to go anywhere if you don't feel up to it, to get your groceries, toiletries etc. The bus is a 2 minute walk away and you can be in town - or in the Hellbrunner Allee - within 20 mins or so on foot.
I hightly recommend this apartment to anyone coming to visit Salzburg. I was a solo traveller, so the apartment was more than large enough! I think more than 2 people would make it a bit crowded.
Wonderful flat, close to the center
The family of 3. We stayed at the flat for just over a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner was very helpful and there was enough information at the flat about what to do around the city. The best thing is you can easily walk to the center through lovely streets. It was clean and it had everything for self-catering.
There are two supermarkets 5 minutes walk from the place, several other lovely shops and a great big bar nearby. You get a lovely view of the mountain from the bedroom on a clear day.
Definitely would recommend to go to travel advice and get the 3 day pass as it allows you to travel for free and enter the majority of sightseeing with no pay.
The tricky fountains were brilliant, the view from the top of the mountain is fantastic, but you do need a lovely sunny day to do both of them.
The natural history and science museum were both fascinating, but take a packed lunch as the cafe was extremely busy.
The cruise down the river is a real treat (also included in the Salzburg card).
There is a lovely bakery with a small watermill not far from the cathedral where they make tasty sweet bread.
If you are travelling with a little one, the toy museum is a must, it'll keep them entertained for a while (free with the card).
Overall despite the weather we enjoyed our stay very much.
We would definitely recommend this flat.
