Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday chalet in Minehead - Woodcombe Lodges and Cottages

Eight Four Star Lodges and Cottages sleep 2 to 10. Dog friendly. Disabled access

Four star self catering lodges and cottages standing in a tranquil rural setting on the boundary of the Exmoor National Park in a beautiful three acre garden with outstanding views over wooded slopes of Exmoor. Minehead with its beach, shops, pubs, restaurants and local bus services is only a 20 minute walk.

See our web page or tripadvisor for reviews, online availability and secure booking - woodcombelodges.co.uk

The Lodge is part of Woodcombe Lodges and Cottages, there are two stone holiday cottages and six timber lodges. It has a fully fitted kitchen including a fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There is a laundry on site. All accommodation has colour televisions and DVDs and heating throughout. Breakfast on your lodge veranda in almost any weather and enjoy the view is a must.

This is one of three Lodges that have disabled access. The other two have wet rooms with shower chairs for the disabled while this has a bath board with shower over.

We do not allow dogs in this Lodge, but do in most Lodges to enable you to enjoy the delightful walks in the area and across Exmoor.

This is a small self catering complex set in 3 acres and the holiday accommodation is spaced to allow a level of privacy while still giving the benefits of having help at hand and additional facilities. There is a fully equipped laundry room on site, together with space for children to play, a putting green and indoor games room with a full size table tennis table, a pool table and table football.

At the heart of one of England’s most beautiful regions, Woodcombe Lodges is ideally placed for the glorious countryside of Exmoor National Park, the Quantock Hills and the North Devon coastline. At the same time, Minehead with its seafront, harbour and wide range shops, pubs, restaurants and local bus services is only 1 ½ miles away.

Also within easy reach are Watchet and Dunster with it’s castle and medieval Yarn Market, the picturesque villages of Selworthy and Allerford, Porlock and Porlock Weir harbour, and the attractive resorts of Lynton and Lynmouth.

The area provides endless opportunities for sight seeing, with wonderful scenery wherever one goes and a truly spectacular coastline westward from Porlock and Lynmouth. Local beauty spots include Dunkery Beacon, the Doone Valley, Tarr Steps, Watersmeet and the Valley of Rocks.

There is also a wide range of local attractions including the West Somerset Railway, whose steam trains run between Minehead, Watchet and Bishop’s Lydeard.

This is an ideal area for walkers and there are many opportunities for fly and sea fishing, bird watching, cycling, riding and other outdoor pursuits as well as a choice of beaches for the children. There are also numerous attractive Gardens and Houses open to the public within a convenient distance.

Minehead has a golf course and a Leisure centre offering squash, tennis, badminton and a full gym facility as well as daily organised children's activities during the school holidays.

About Nicola Hanson

Nicola & Andrew Hanson have owned and run Woodcombe Lodges for over 13 years. Their four daughters have now left home but are regular visitors enjoying the fresh sea air, countryside and walks with our two border terriers, Archie and Millie

Nicola Hanson purchased this chalet in 2000

Why Nicola Hanson chose West Somerset

A peaceful and secure site with fabulous views and the sea within 10 minutes drive. You can walk into the Exmoor National Park or down into the town of Minehead with its shops, restaurants, steam railway and beach in 20 to 30 minutes. The best of both worlds both coast and country or relax on site with the putting green, games room and play area.

What makes this chalet unique

The Lodge verandas and gardens outside the cottages are fabulous for relaxing and enjoying the views over the Exmoor hills. The Lodges in particular have the benefit of covered verandas to enjoy whatever the weather from breakfast to bed time.

Andrew & Nicola,

A note to say thanks for a brilliant (last) week.

The accommodation was great, the location immaculate, and the views stunning. Not sure how you organised the superb weather ?…but organisation and arrangements were painless..and stay very enjoyable. An excellent location, 'out of town' but close enough for convenience. Being able to bring the dog made it even more pleasant and stress free.

So thanks again and we hope to re-visit asap.

Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I recently stayed at Woodcombe and had a fantastic time.

Great scenery/location

Discription was accurate and excellent directions and full details of our stay were provided in advance.

We received a very warm welcome upon arrival. The owner showed us around the property and advised us of everything we needed to know.

They were also able to provide lots of information on the local area and suggested different things for us to go and see/do.

The property provided was very clean and was everything we needed for our stay.

Would highly recommend.

A perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

My fiancee and I stayed in the Holly Lodge with 6 other friends to celebrate a 30th birthday.

We were most impressed with the cleanliness and comforts of the lodge. The kitchen area is large and has excellent facilities, we enjoyed a cooked breakfast both mornings!

We were lucky enough to secure the bedroom with the en-suite bathroom, but there are two other bathrooms for the other lodge residents so they weren't too jealous.

Even if the weather is not kind to you (luckily we had a dry weekend), there is plenty to do with a radio, television and board games supplied (we enjoyed a late night game of HeadBandz despite it being aimed at 5-10 year olds!)

The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many small, rural villages to explore and enjoy. Highly recommended.

peace and tranquility

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and I stayed at Pine Tree Lodge recently. Excellent is all I can say.....

The place was outanding and all it was promised to be. The lodge was beautiful and had everything you needed. It was very clean and cosy.

We received a warm welcome and was given loads of advice on the lodge and the surrounding area.

We were very private which suited us down to the ground, we had an outstanding view come rain or shine from our veranda and Jack (the dog) enjoyed the whole experience too including all the wildlife seen in the distance and the frequent birds that visited us.

If your reading this you must be thinking of booking a holiday there, you will not be disappointed!! We highly recommend Woodcombe lodges for a holiday and will be returning in the future.

Perfect location with splended views. The children loved the grassed open areas with super games room. The lodge was well equipped, clean and comfortable for all the family including the one year old.

Choices for Independence Summer Residential

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic residential at woodcombe lodge. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the grounds and facilities were beautifully kept. Having a group of students with complex needs and specialist wheelchairs can prove difficult to find suitable accomodation. we stayed in Laburnham lodge which proved to be an excellent lodge, the doorways were wide enough for our students in large wheelchairs to be moved around freely, the wet room was also spacious and easily accessable, also the beds were comfortable with ample space below to recieve the base of our hoist this enabled staff to hoist students ino bed safely and comfortably.
