El Membrillo (the Quince tree) is thought to be over 300 years old & was part of a Cortijo (farmhouse) & has been fully refurbished to provide a quiet, delightful Finca, set in its own Mediterranean garden with private pool & genuine easy (900 m) walking distance of the town centre and beach. The five generous air-conditioned bedrooms sleep 10 without the use of sofa beds and with the flexibility of a mix of double and single beds. The Finca has a fully equipped kitchen including a large American fridge providing ice and filtered cool water. There is an outside summer kitchen with barbecue, drinks fridge, washing m/c, preparation sink and worktop. A large covered patio to the side affords plenty of shaded area with its own 10-seater Moorish table. There is also another large stone table under an old Almond tree which seats at least 10 people. Our new Gazebo offers a cool, quiet seating area in its own garden area. The pool is 1m to 2m deep & we provide plenty of loungers, tables and shades.

Local Sports: There are several good Golf Courses nearby with good facilities. There are tennis courts within a few hundred yards of the property, with rental rates of around 5 Euros per hour. The marina offers several water sport activities - again only a ten minute stroll from the property. We can put you in touch with walking tours for all abilities. The Spanish cycling clubs are legendary and some Sundays, the Police close the roads and everyone watches the race go by, then heads for the bars!

Scuba diving and kayaking available - booking office just 500 metres away.

Jet ski hire available at the Marina by town centre. ATV hire close by.

Motor boats and sailing dinghies available from the Marina office.

Membrillo is essentially a family Finca, equipped specifically for the whole family and provides lots of separate areas, all within the boundary of the property, where the youngsters can play whilst parents can relax and grandparents can find quiet areas to read or snooze! Separate families have the cottage and the house to share and thus their own private space - the cottage having 2 double bedrooms and the house having three.

The property is supplied with plenty of cutlery, crockery and cooking aids and equipment (not just the bare minimum!) so that the whole family can eat together without having to wash-up between courses! Things like Paella pans and a Paella cooker, bar-b-que with kebab skewers etc are all provided along with recipe books for the adventurous!

It is perhaps worthy of note that our booking system is managed by our Son's fully bonded French Registered Company located in Chamonix and therefore any money paid to us is secured in a Client Account and we do not receive your rental payments until you have arrived at the Finca. We manage the property, all the cleaning, laundry, gardening, Meet & Greet services and maintenance ourselves and our local English friend and manager lives nearby and will be on hand you should require any assistance. We have owned the property since 2004 although we have had a holiday home in Moraira since 1987.

We are a family with two grown-up children, and four grandchildren and all 10 of us enjoy family time at El Membrillo for several months of the year.

Why Andy Symington chose Moraira

El Membrillo delighted us on first seeing it ! We have lovingly restored this 300 year old Finca and provided the best of the old and the new. We have retained all the old features, the quirky nooks and crannies, the shaded terraces and secluded eating areas but have provided five new bathrooms, a separate library with books, games, and toys, a Moroccan-style eating area under a starlit pergola and a Gazebo for a quiet cool read. We installed air-conditioning in all the bedrooms to make sleeping comfortable. Our main kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need! We all enjoy quiet times and also riotous together times.

What makes this villa unique

Plenty of room for all of us. Quick walk into town or the beaches. El Membrillo is secluded, quiet and sheltered but close to all amenities, shops, restaurants & entertainment.

August 2016. We have just had a very enjoyable holiday in this lovely finca. It is in a convenient but secluded location and has been beautifully and imaginatively restored, with loads of character, and filled with every amenity you could wish for.

The real bonus is the outside space - a good sized swimming pool, and a well laid out garden, with many shaded areas to eat or sit sheltered from the hot sun. There were ten of us - six adults and four children, from 70 down to 3 years old - and there were options for us all without bumping into one another. We could all eat together at the large shaded outdooor table, or we could find a quiet shady space to read a book.

Most vacation rentals seem to offer accommodation and a pool - but this was so much more. We feel very lucky to have found Membrillo. And the service from he owner is outstanding with lots of communication and helpful advice.

I would recommend this to anyone. If you are looking for a holiday rental for 8 or 10 people then Membrillo should certainly be on your shortlist.

Bathroom 5 has a full size bathtub, large shower over, WC and washbasin. (ideal for bathing baby! ) we supply hair dryers in each bathroom. We provide individual soap, a bath towel, a hand towel and a pool towel per person. It should be noted that access to the finca is via 20 or so gentle steps, but once there, the ground floor en suite bedroom offers accessibility for people with walking difficulties. The garden has various different levels via shallow steps. The finca has been fully updated and is in the Spanish rustic style, with old beams, barrelled ceilings and lots of typical local features. Mature garden has lemon, olive and quince trees and lots of very old Cactii and Succulents.

  • The cottage has 2 double bedrooms on the first floor, bedroom 1 has 2 single beds and a Juliet balcony and uses the downstairs bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a very modern rustic en suite bathroom and has and an extra large double bed - it has a balcony with its own table and chairs. The house has a ground floor double bedroom with its own patio and en suite shower room with WC and basin. On the first floor, bedroom 4 has a very modern rustic en suite bathroom and has an extra large double bed. - it has a balcony with its own table and chairs. Bedroom 5 on the first floor has a double bed and uses the downstairs bathroom. We have available two cots, 2 high chairs if required (please notify at time of booking) - anything else please enquire and we would be delighted to assist. The playroom has a variety of children's toys, inflatables for the pool, buckets and spades, a large library and games.

The pool is gated for children's safety. PARENTS MUST BE VIGILANT. Pool is not heated, but it is one of the warmest in MoraIra as it is out of any wind and very sheltered having sun all day. There is a short (40 metres) driveway from Camino del Campamento which is not surfaced with tarmac. At the beginning this is quite steep but perfectly drivable by car with care. It would be difficult, however, to push a wheelchair over it. Once in our private parking area, everything else is surfaced and steps are gradual & shallow. Patios & all other areas are terracotta tiled or local stone. Wheelchair users should be able to negotiate around the finca and use the ground floor en suite bedroom . Guests say Membrillo is perfect for family gatherings - many different areas & the library for people to have a peaceful time to themselves. Free WiFi available . The property is one long 2 storey building with the House to the left, cottage to the right.

Really traditional Fica, but with all mod-cons!

Membrillo is much better than the pictures imply, it's a deceptively large building with plenty of inside and outside space. Lots of shaded areas where you can have private time but then big areas where the whole family can enjoy their holiday together, especially around the pool. We all loved it! This is not simply a "rental villa" - it's a family home and equipped as such so there is plenty of everything with all those home essentials so often missing from a rental as we have found in the past. Just lovely.

We enquired about El Membrillo as well as a couple of others. Although we ended up choosing a different Villa, the owners Andy and Chris could not have been any more helpful. As we were new to the Homeaway process, Chris went over and above providing us information and advice about his own Villa, Moraira and even went to have a look at the villa we had intended to book as he was on holiday himself. it gave us peace of mind and much appreciated information. Such a lovely and unexpected thing and kind thing to do. They are very knowledgeable about the area. If it wasn't for the younger contingent of our large party who preferred an ultra modern villa we would have booked this one without hesitation.

Fabulous accommodation and facilities

The villa is gorgeous in appearence and perfect in the variety of facilities on offer. The traditional appearence and rustic decor sits well within the area. The rooms are clean, spacious and well appointed. The outside space is plentiful and well maintained.

The house has been equipped with everything you could need; BBQ, several fridges, plentiful seating, shade, sun loungers, board games and the list goes on. This is a well cared for and maintained property that was a pleasure to stay in.

We travelled as a family group using all rooms in the villa, with the group varying from 20 months to 60 years. We all had a fabulous time and would gladly return to the villa and area.

Villa and pool faultless, rooms were very clean and airy and the garden lovely and relaxing. There was everything you could want, the owners certainly go the extra mile to think of everything for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. We had 8 in our party including 2 small children and we all had a fabulous holiday. Would definitely recommend this beautiful property as there was nothing to dislike

Our extended family of 11 covering 3 generations found the property and surroundings fulfilled our expectations. All aspects of the accommodation and the facilities at the pool were excellent and on the occasions we went to the beach we found it nearby and cleaned daily. We plan to return.

Membrillo - membrilliant!

Superb old finca in a delightful setting, easy walking distance to both beach and the town of Moraira - all very up market. Plenty of eating places to suit all from pizzas to Michelin starred restaurant.

Membrilo provided excellent accommodation for two families/friends as 'The Cottage' whilst being part of the house is self-contained with everything provided including own private eating area, washing maching, wood burner (even wood provided)

The main house has been lovingly restored by the owners, with everything provide from hot water bottles to coolbags. Extremely well equipped kitchen with large fridge/freezer. The spacious outside garden provides several eating areas with paella cooker, bbq, washing machine, sink and drinks fridge. The pretty shaded tableseats 10 comfortably. Forgot to mention the large playroom/library which provided a cooler quiet area, should you wish to get away. Lovely swimming pool, weather not warm enough for me to take the plunge.

A very clean property and well maintained. We were met by charming English lady who gave us the low down on everything which was useful

Moraira is a small, prosperous fishing port, mainly with owner occupied villas and no large hotels or sky scraping apartment blocks and is the jewel of the Costa Blanca. Easy access to Altea, Xavia, Calpe and the bodegas, & the olive and almond groves of the Jalon valley. The AP7 motorway gives fast access to airports and the rest of Spain. Moraira bay provides sheltered beaches and safe water sports. There are many drives into the hills where you will find great Spanish restaurants where the locals dine! The weather tends to be warmer and more settled on the coast with warm onshore winds making it is a delight to wander down to the town in the evening to eat and drink and then stroll back to El Membrillo without having to drive. The Friday market provides local produce to keep you going all week. Several supermarkets nearby stock a huge range of international produce to suit every taste. Lifeguarded beach & sea 800 metres away and is safe for children. Quaint town with loads of boutiques. Moraira offers several night clubs, bars with live music, scuba diving, water sports, go-karting and much more!

Golf: Ifach golf course is a 9 hole course and 5 minutes drive away. Clubs and equipment available for hire. Stunning views and a nice club-house. No problem taking young children.

Javea Golf Course is about 10 minutes drive, 18 hole and a more upmarket club. Full list available in Guest Pack.

Bookings are generally taken from Saturday to Saturday although there may be flexibility in the low season. To secure the booking, a 25% deposit is taken with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of £500 is taken at the same time as the final payment is made with each booking and refunded immediately after the holiday. Prices in Euros. Visa & Mastercard credit cards accepted which gives you financial security over all payments to us. Sterling by bank transfer into UK bank account at prevailing day rate. NOTE: We are fully bonded as a French Registered Company so you have full financial protection. We believe that we are the only private villa to offer such protection in Moraira.

Security deposit: Our local host will check inventory for damage or breakages and authorize the refund immediately after you have vacated the premises. The deposit will be returned to you by transfer directly into your bank account. If El Membrillo is left in a very poor state of cleanliness, or we have to move furniture back to its original position, or we have to bring in extra staff or spend more than normal time doing extra cleaning, washing-up, clearing up and tidying, or disposing of rubbish, we reserve the right to make an additional charge. We expect that all washing-up is done and put away and that the Villa is left in a clean and tidy state before vacating.

Should there be any significant damage or breakages, or we have had to bring in extra staff, we will contact you to discuss and agree any charges. Extra staffing is charged at 25 euros per hour. Loss of the safe key will be charged at 150 Euros.
