This truly amazing totally Self/Contained Private Villa Exclusively for your Vacation is situated on a South facing Cliff, in the Lush and Colorful Safe & Welcoming Tenerife North, and has the best views of Mount Teide , Atlantic Ocean, and the new harbour / marina in Garachico with its small island.
The Villa ( 112 mtrs above sea level ) is found 3 mins off the road leading down from the Historic wine Town of ICOD DE LOS VINOS to the small harbour Village and beach of SAN MARCOS, both Icod & San Marcos just 5mins from home by car. The property was totally architect designed and built in 1980s, In all, there are 850 sq mtrs of land and included in that, there is 360 sq mtrs of construction forming all the living area, the property has staircase access from the ground floor and Garage area. The main accommodation includes 4 bedrooms, 2 reception, 1 Office/bedroom, 1 kitchen/breakfast, 2 bathrooms, 1 shower room, 1 laundry room, 1 Entrance hall, 2 indoor terraces ( with Pool Table ) including bar area, the house is partly Air conditioned and all rooms are of good proportions.
The outside areas consist of a 7mtr X 12 mtrs fully mosaic year round heated ( Solar and Electric) Swimming pool which is Gated & Lockable, 2 External BBQs, there’s a further 250sq mtrs of outside split level terraces plus 240sq mtrs of lawns trees and plant beds. There are so many wonderful features with this home, ICOD Town Square delightfully alive but peaceful / charming is close.
The Villa has easy access to everything that Tenerife Has to Offer but away from the Crowds BUENAVISTA GOLF 8km LORO PARQUE 15km In fact everything for a Great TENERIFE VILLA HOLIDAY.
You can see from the info and photos provided, this Villa is very special indeed, Ideal for Big Families, joint Families, a perfect Base for Buena vista golf maybe, or just a relaxing Romantic Tenerife holiday with pool. At San Marcos beach about 1 km there are several restaurants, This small sandy bay is usable throughout the year, alongside there is also a small fishing port, here 10:00 each morning you can buy locally caught fresh fish, or just enjoy these fruits of the sea in a harbour side restaurant.
You can discover many places within a small radius, such as: Icod de los Vinos, just about 2 km away, is surrounded by vineyards and banana trees. The biggest attraction is the 1000-year old, mighty dragon tree 'Drago milenario'. It is found in 'Parque del Drago'. Here you can get a very good impression of the Canarian vegetation. The woody mountains on top of Icod laid with hiking trails invite you for hiking tours or even just for a walk. In the small town of Garachico (about 5 km away) you can visit the historical city centre with its beautiful fortress.
Nearby cities: You can experience the vibrant life in the old harbour city Puerto de la Cruz (approx. 20 km away). The old town is pure history, with a lot of shops and restaurants. The famous Orotava valley (that Humbolt has described before) is about 25 km away. In the old town of Orotava you can admire the beautiful, wooden-carved balconies.
Landscapes: Through Orotava valley you can also drive to Teide, the highest mountain in Spain (3718 m). Here on top in 'crater' (about 16 km in diameter, approx 2200 m high) you will be thrilled to see a really fantastic landscape. With the cable car you can 'glide' up to about 3550 m and from here enjoy the fantastic view from atop. After registering you can also climb up the peak. If you are good at walking, you should definitely hike in the Teno 'Masca' gorge (about 30 km away). You can explore a breathtaking landscape in approximately 3 to 4 hours.
It is unfair to describe this property as a holiday home or a villa. It is a gorgeous hilltop mansion overlooking the sea and also the volcano. The views are out of this world and need to be seen to be fully appreciated. The property exceeds the condition indicated by the photos on here and is really lovely. There is space for multiple families with lots of indoor rooms and outdoor seating areas.
Additionally the owner and his agent are both lovely people and were really helpful at all times.
I cannot recommend this property enough, it's huge and has a massive pool that's warm and well looked after.
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at villa Fort Knox (4 adults, 2 children). The views in the morning and evening are spectacular due to its elevated position. We ate outside every day and made great use of the BBQ. Our children (4 & baby) loved the heated pool and the temperature was just right for us all to stay in and play. Shopping for food is easy as there are a few supermarkets close by and the local beach with a few restaurants is only down the hill. You do need a car for the this property as the hills are quite steep. However, we didn't really go out that much as we all enjoyed relaxing in the villa so much. We had sunny weather all week and would thoroughly recommend this villa to large families. Hopefully we will be back to Tenerife one day and if so, we will definitely try and stay here. On a final note, there was very good communication with the owner Recca and John the caretaker was very friendly and full of local knowledge.
This property is in a spectacular location, high on a hillside looking down to the sea, and in the other direction to the mountains. It was tastefully furnished, clean, well equipped and maintained to a high standard. Facilities included beautiful heated swimming pool, a games room, barbecue areas, televisions, hi-fi, wi-fi, VCR, DVD, and CD players. It is essential for visitors to have a car on site because the road to local shop and restaurants is very steep. Pleasant beachside restaurants nearby, but smarter restaurants within an easy drive away. The Island's top tourist attractions of Loro Parque and Mount Teide are easily accessible by car.
Three generations of my family had a thoroughly enjoyable family holiday together and I would certainly recommend this villa in the highest terms.
We’ve just reluctantly returned from a most fabulous holiday in this beautiful villa.
Having read this review my husband says it sounds like an estate agents description (!) but agrees that I’ve not exaggerated and the following is just as it was:
A clever architect’s exceptional design maximizes the glorious views all around the villa and the many terraces capture the sun throughout the day, while little gardens also combine both complete privacy and stunning views. The generous sized pool provides a lovely view too and total privacy. Though it was January we swam every day.
The many rooms, which were immaculately clean, were high and big. The kitchen is excellently equipped (as is the widescreen TV and sound system room for those who want that.) If it were to rain a lovely large L shaped terrace (with pool table, bar area and cooking facilities) is windowed in all the way round and also overlooks the pool. There can’t be many villas that can sleep ten people yet easily disperse them during the day in so many recreational areas.
The owner clearly once made the villa his one-time home and was helpful and friendly in all arrangements for our stay there. Johann immediately made us feel welcome and was always on hand to answer any questions or recommend some of the excellent eating places etc, as were some of the owner’s friends down the road.
San Marcos is a working fishing harbour, where you can buy fresh fish daily. It’s away from the main tourist areas and gives a genuine flavour of Spanish life.
Mostly though, although the surrounding area has so much to offer, do and explore, we were happy to enjoy all that this villa offered and would love to escape there again when we can.
I've just returned from a wonderful fortnight in the amazing villa Fortknox Tenerife; relaxed,tanned and toned from hours spent in the lovely pool. Now back in the dull and damp UK it is pleasant to remember the expansive and ever changing views from the villas many balconies and terraces - whether it be the views of the ocean or the sunsets casting wonderful colours across mount Teide -there was always something different to see each day and night.
Hiring a car was useful and allowed us to explore the local area, discovering the pretty coastal village of Garachico with wonderful rock pools to snorkel in and delightful shady town square to enjoy a cold beer or cortado leche y leche or a further 10 minutes drive away the natural beautiful coastline at Buenavista --a must to visit.
The house itself was fabulously clean and well equipped with all home comforts.
We particularly enjoyed the BBQ outdoor areas making the most of the lovely setting for alfresco dining. It was easy to cook in the well equipped kitchen ( making freshly squeezed orange juice was a lovely addition to breakfast ). With San Marcos village only 5 mins drive away we regularly enjoyed its lovely small local beach and the eating in its restaurant. We can recommend the squid with hand cut chips made at the good and reasonably priced restaurant Maritimo "Rafinos", we also would recommend the restaurant Amarca for good reasonably priced ocean front dining.
We were blessed with great weather, in the high 20s and on the only one dull day we used it to enjoy the champagne breakfast at the Monasterio restaurant (El Mirador) in Los Realejos. The holiday seemed over too quickly-so much to see and do .. We will be back.
Im November haben wir zwei wunderbare Wochen in der Villa Fortknox verbracht. Die Lage mit Blick auf die Küste rund um San Marcos und den Teide ist einmalig - auch für Ausflüge in die Umgebung ein guter Standort. Das Haus besitzt mehrere Terrassen angelegt auf verschiedenen Ebenen. Es gibt einen tropischen Garten mit einem idyllischen Grillplatz. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der große beheizte Pool. Das Haus ist riesig, aber auch zu zweit gut zu bewohnen. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Betreuung vor Ort durch war super! Danke an John, Sylvie und Recca!
The small, romantic beach Playa de San Marcos is less known to tourists, but with the soft, dark sand it is a popular swimming beach for connoisseurs. It is nestled inside one of the bays surrounded by rocks. This place sheltered from wind and waves is very well suited for swimming, even in winter. Parasols and lounge chairs can be rented. After a short walk on the beach, you will reach cafes, restaurants and bars and a pharmacy. A small super market is there approximately half a kilometre away.
Other activities: Golf, forest, sea / ocean, local beach, rock climbing, mountain biking, bicycle, historic places, air sports, recreation and relaxation park.
Golf: Buenavista del Norte. Description: Perhaps the most beautiful golf course of Tenerife Island, in Buenavista del Norte (approx. 10 miles away) located by distinctive rocks and surrounded by the impressive Teno Country Park. Buenavista Golf is situated near the breathtaking coast. You will feel as though you are hitting a ball in to the ocean.
