Overlooking the sea our self-catering two bedroom apartment will appeal to those who seek a quiet and relaxing base but having the advantage of having spectacular beaches, the numerous restaurants, shops and top quality bars within a few minutes walk. The complex is always well maintained, secure and has a swimming pool where you have sun loungers at your disposal. The apartment has been furnished with care, is situated on the sixth floor with access from the underground car park by lifts. It has air-conditioning/heating in the lounge, a fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, washer, cooker and microwave. In the lounge are two sofas (one is a sofa bed), air sky TV, and DVD.

The south west facing veranda is around the entire apartment and equipped with a table and chairs, and is perfect for enjoying the sunset or have an alfresco evening meal.

The Algarve: Portugal is one of the most under-rated and inexpensive destinations in Europe. • The wonderful sandy beaches of the Algarve are unspoilt and amongst the finest in the world. • Children are welcomed everywhere and the locals are always friendly and helpful. • Away from the tourist hub, explore the quaint unspoilt villages with their narrow cobbled streets, the breathtaking Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, the majestic Monchique Mountains or the rugged beauty of the South Westerly tip of Europe, Sagres and Cape St Vincent. • Local markets sell an abundance of goods at bargain prices. • Restaurants and bars vie for business and the food is delicious and served in huge quantities. • Most restaurants have charcoal grills, turning out some of the best barbecued food you're ever likely to taste, such as freshly caught fish, chicken piri-piri and mouth-watering steaks and kebabs. • Enjoy cheap local wines, jug-full of Sangria and freshly squeezed local orange juice.

Portimao - Praia da Rocha - Alvor Area: Praia da Rocha is the Algarve’s best known and longest established resort, providing year-round appeal. • Its numerous bars, restaurants, night-clubs and souvenir shops, spill out onto the long promenade and a first-class casino is located right on the beach. Alvor is an ancient coastal village, which is now a very popular holiday location. Alvor’s maze of cobbled streets is full of busy restaurants, many barbecuing outside and it is known for its excellent nightlife. • It is well located facing a natural lagoon opening onto the sea. • Framed by ochre cliffs and lapped by sheltered Atlantic waters you can find either long open sandy beach or a number of small coves tucked under the cliffs.

Location is very good

The unit was ok although furniture is not all that comfortable and we arrived late at night and the unit had no heat on .If we had a problem the owner responded quickly.There was only one English tv channel. Location to beach was very walkable.

Beautiful apt

We had a fantastic stay in this apt. It was very spacious fab balcony with sea and pool view and everything g you need was in the apt. Only very short walk to nearest shop and to the beach andstrip of restaurants and bars. Would return for sure we were a family of 4. Pools were very nice and there was no noise from other apts.

Good sized 2 bed apartment

Recently stayed in apartment at Clube Praia Mar in a very well equiped 2 bedroom apartment with large balcony overlooking swimming pool and with view to sea. Apartment was about 5 minute walk to beach/boardwalk where you could either go down steps to beach (quite steep) and walk towards Portimao (to the left) or Praia do Vau (to the right), or you could walk along the flat boardwalk with all the shops, cafes and restaurants towards Portimao and along clifftop to Praia do Vau. Plentiful cafes, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, very relaxing break, would recommend. We did walk to Alvor a couple of times but you can catch the Tourist bus which stops at Luar Hotel (1.50 euros each way or 3.50 euros for a day ticket per person) this bus also takes you all the way into Portimao so if you're visiting both places in one day it's worth buying the day ticket, just tell driver you want day ticket - think these buses run about every 15 minutes. We also visited Lagos (you have to get bus or walk to Portimao and catch another bus to Lagos - the return fare on this bus was about 8.40 euros each). Journey took about 40 minutes and it is a lovely place to visit although we didn't visit the marina. The Continente supermarket along with Aldi and Lidl are about a 25 minute walk from apartment so we walked there and got taxi back (if carrying heavy shopping) taxi was about 6 euros. Booked through HomeAway and would recommend as they have an app which you can put on your mobile and keep up to date with your booking, you can also contact the person you are renting apartment from and there is a lot of information on the app - ie places to visit, places to eat etc, checking in and checking out procedure etc

Praia da Rocha Beach Stay

The Praia Clube Mar building is lovely and visually unique amongst the other high rises of this beach destination. The reception area is manned 24/7 and the staff are helpful, courteous and always greet you with a cheery hello.

The VRBO apartment itself faces southwest and is on the sixth floor. Although the interior of the apartment is showing signs of being in dire need of some new furnishings and tender loving care (simply due to age and use) it is still bright and welcoming and offers everything needed for an enjoyable stay. We cooked the majority of our meals (as we stayed five weeks) and while there is not an oven the kitchen cooktop, utensils, pots and pans were above par.

Hot water for the shower was sparse leaving the two of us unable to shower one after the other so we adjusted our schedules to suit availability. That could be a major issue should more than two people stay in the apartment. Our main complaint, however, is with the internet service. It was extremely slow, constantly cut in and out, and was so frustrating we often ended up using the internet service that is only available in the lobby. Perhaps it is time to find another more reliable internet provider because Vodafone was definitely not up to the task.

If you are looking for a budget friendly beach holiday this property is definitely worth considering. It would suit a couple (we're retired) or a young couple with small children and is located a short walk from the beach. The main street of Praia da Rocha with its shops, restaurants and cafes is also an easy stroll away. We did not rent a car as almost everything is either within walking distance or available via the local bus system. Although the temperature (in February/March) was too cool to use the hotel pool, we often grabbed our Kindles and settled onto a lounge chair to read the afternoon away. It was a lovely place out of the wind to relax and soak up a few rays of sunshine.

Fantastic holiday

We had absolutely fantastic 2 weeks with our three children (3, 8 and 11 years) at this apartment which is, in our view, better than in the pictures! The pool is suitable for children (and of course adults) of all ages and the whole pool area was well maintained. The location of the apartment is very good as one can walk to several beaches and if one has a car, it is easily obtained from highway. The materials of the apartment were high quality and it was very spacious. The garage was also very nice in sunny days in Algarve. Many thanks to our friendly host!

Located between Alvor; Vau and Praia da Rocha you can choose between Alvor's charm and tranquillity or Praia da Rocha's late night action. Both areas boast excellent sandy beaches with numerous bars, restaurants and shops ensuring a lively atmosphere in the warm evenings. Praia de Rocha also has lots of discos that stay open till very late. However if you are looking for water activities Portimao has jet skis, water skiing and numerous other water sports available. In a 5-10 minute drive golfers have courses at Penina, Alto and Gramacho all within. Also there are water parks, the marine zoo and several other activities nearby

Golf: The Algarve is one of Europe's premier golf areas, as warm playing conditions and immaculately manicured fairways make it the ideal destination for a golfing holiday. • There are several excellent golf courses nearby, including Alto, Penina, Palmares, Morgado and two at Carvoeiro.
