Holiday home Casa Tamadaba, private pool, beach 2km, hiking, nature park, AGAETE

Bedrooms 1
Space 731 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 - 6 nights

About the property

Private Pool, high rooms, terrace, beach 2km, sunny location at the west coast

A wide vally opens in El Risco (Agaete) down from the mountains of the Tamadaba Natural Park onto the sea with its natural beach. On the south oriented slope, above the village of El Risco, you can enjoy this lovingly restored traditional stone house.

We keept in mind modern technique: Internet, WiFi, Sat TV and a private pool with salt electrolysis system directly in front of the bedroom. On clear days you will see from the pool the island of Tenerife with the Teide mountain on the horizon. In new moon´s nights you will look up to a spectacular star-filled sky. The natural beach of El Risco is only a 5 minutes care ride and a little walk away. At low tide on calm days you will be surprised by wide sandbank and a shallow beach. Even in summer times a insider´s tip. Hiking and mountain routes are starting at the door. You really caught one of the seldom rainy winter days? Enjoy it: Amazing waterfalls may light up for a few hours on the mountainside. The thick natural stone walls and high ceilings provide a very pleasant indoor climate all year around.

Why Jürgen Richter chose Gran Canaria

We recreated this stone built house in seven years of manual work from the ruins of the Canarian great-grandpas cottage. The overview from the garden with its 100 year old carob trees to the valley of El Risco, from the Tamadaba pine forest over to the Island of Tenerife, cast a spell over us.

What makes this house unique

The microclimate of Gran Canaria is rather pronounced. The valley of El Risco on the west coast is protected by the mountains of the Tamadaba Natural Park from the trade winds in winter times and provides one of the best locations on the Island.

Casa Tamadaba is a offically registered holiday home in the "Casa Rural" category.

Car: recommended

Right on the doorstep of Casa Tamadaba there are starting soft trips, easy or challenging hikes.

The Kompass hiking map Gran Canaria is a good companion, for hiking tours combined with a rented car as well, nearby or in the central part of the island.

In the Bar Perdomo during the week you will enjoy among locals the goat cheese and other Canary Islands specialities. Fresh bread you buy there every morning. In the old corners shop you may supplement your daily needs. On sundays as well.

Numerous restaurants you will find on the harbor promenade of Puerto de las Nieves, 15 km away nearby Agaete, where you could take a ferry to the neighboring island of Tenerife. In Agaete, right hand on the road down to the harbor, you will find the nearest, well-assorted supermarket (Spar).

Lidl and the recommendable Mercadona are located beside the highway, taking the first exit after Agaete.

A little bit further away, in Galdar, you could enjoy a city walk and visit the market hall (workdays till 13:00 h). My insider tip: The art museum Casa-Museo Antonio Padron with outstanding expressionistic paintings in an old townhouse close to the cathedral (tuesday-sunday 10-18:00h).

If you are interested in the life of the legendary early Canarians, the Guanches, you shouldn´t miss to enter the museum and cave paintings of Cueva Pintada in Galdar.

The aborigines settled on the beachside, in the caves and on the magic hilltops above the valley of El Risco as well - 500 years ago.

Christmas peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

We booked at short notice for a last-minute holiday Christmas 2016. Jurgen was very responsive and provided almost instantaneous confirmation of our booking, followed up by useful information and directions. The villa is in a very rural location, wonderful clear skies at night and very quiet except for the local animals. The whole place is very well set out, fantastically clean and tidy. The kitchen is well equipped. We had a brilliant stay, thank you very much! Needless to say, a car is required if staying here. We used Autoreisen Top Car - very good.

A tranquil retreat

  • 4 of 5

The villa was very calm and peaceful with stunning views into the valley from the outside space. We had a wonderful time.

The drive from Agaete was along an extremely winding and narrow road, and the village itself is positively vertical! Therefore we decided to head to the shop just once in Agaete and saw no one else all week, which was extremely relaxing!

Relaxing secluded retreat

  • 4 of 5

Villa was very clean and was exactly as shown in photos. House had all mod cons. Pool & garden was very well maintained. A car is definitely recommended especially if visiting Electric Roscommon off season.

Quiet & private villa with all mod cons in Agaete.

  • 3 of 5

We had a lovely, peaceful stay in Casa Tamadaba in late November. Villa has all the mod cons and was very clean. We definitely recommend hiring a car for getting around.

Ruhiges Feriendomizil fernab vom Massentourismus

  • 4 of 5
