Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Le Lavachet - Le Homeclub

Well equipped self catering ski apartments all in same building

The apartments are in a large residence that looks out over the village of Le Lavachet located at 2100m which is an ideal location for easy skiing. Access to the slopes is by chair lift directly from the village (about 50 metre walk) and you can ski straight back to the door of the residence!! There are numerous shops and restaurants in the village, and a 24 hour free bus service to the other villages in Tignes. We have wonderful views from the apartments. The north-facing ones have a view right across the valley of the Lac de Chevril dominated by the beautiful peak of the Grande Sassiere. The large south facing apartments have a view of Tignes and the glacier on the Grande Motte. All apartments are modern and well furnished. They are all fully equipped to a high standard.

The Skiing and Boarding: The apartment is situated in Tignes in the best mountain ski area in France, the Espace Killy, which links Val d'Isere and Tignes. The village of Le Lavachet offers a supermarket several bars and restaurants 2 lifts to whisk you up to the slopes and a regular bus service to link you with the other areas of Tignes. It is ideal for intermediates and advanced skiers, although beginners are well catered for, offering a learning area where they can be a part of the scene right in the centre of the village. The Grande Motte glacier offers skiing right through into early May. Take the opportunity to take a second ski trip late season when there is fantastic snow and the slopes are virtually empty.

There is a first class boarder park in Tignes and also in Val d'Isere.

The Golf: The golf in summer is on the Par 68 5000 yard course situated on the meadowed slopes of Tignes. Situated at 2100 metres it is the highest golf course in Europe. The experience of playing golf at this height is amazing as the balls fly for forever due to the thinner air. The wildlife of wild goats and marmots also provide a difference from the local golf course, but best of all are the natural hazards.

About Mrs Clemency Upton

TIGNESLOVE is a privately run business run by Clem & Pete Upton renting out our own ski apartments. We started with our first apartment 24 years ago in 1992 and added another apartment in 1999, 2001, 2003 & 2005 & 2007. We have many years experience of providing clients with a comfortable well equipped apartments so that you can enjoy your holiday without any worries about your accommodation. We have many regular clients who return year after year, proof that our apartments provide excellent accommodation.

Mrs Clemency Upton purchased this apartment in 1992

Why Mrs Clemency Upton chose Tignes

Le Lavachet is a village of Tignes 2100 right in the heart of the ski area. The apartments are in a large modern apartment building with good access to the pistes (50 metre walk to the path to ski down to the lifts) and then ski back to the front door.

What makes this apartment unique

We chose Tignes because it has a superb snow record and the longest season in the French Alps starting from November and finishing in the middle of May. It has the Grande Motte glacier at 3250 metres which allows skiing at ll times even if the snow cover is low in other resorts.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Clem

Many thanks for the use of your apartment. We had a fantastic week.

Our children really enjoyed your DVDs on the two afternoons when visibility

was zero and only lunatics were out on the slopes.

Excellent apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is great - compact (ish) but perfectly designed. We were 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 11). Kids slept in bunks in hall which we could close off from lounge. Fantastic location - 50 yd walk to put your skis on and ski to the nearest lifts. Coming home you could ski right back to the apt door. Also very close to supermarket, bars, ski rental etc - on the doorstep. Had a lovely meal in Le Brassero (just ask for kids portions). Back to apartment - oven is small but very efficient and managed a roast chicken, baked potatoes and garlic bread for 4!! All utensils you need provided. No coffee machine but a cafetiere. Great TV and DVD player. Lots of clothes/bag storage. Glorious view from balcony. Would definitely recommend and would return to this apartment. Tignes is a great ski. NB. Park in public Lavachet car park if you have a 4 by 4, MPV or roof box (or both like us!!) - the entrance to the apartment parking garage seemed a bit low. Public car park is 50yds - opposite where you can put your skis on in the morning. We loved this place. Clem is very helpful. Only negative point (not about apartment) is that with the exchange rate as it is everything is ridiculously expensive e.g. can of drink 5 euros, pizza 16 euros, pint of lager 7 euros, ski passes.... etc etc. Some mountain places cheaper than others so check them out. Hope this helps anyone!

Owner's Response: Itrs great to read about a client's experience in one's own apartments - basically agreeing with all that we feel is good about our location in Tignes. A note on the exchange rate is that you can reduce the impact - buy your food in Bourg St Maurice its much cheaper than in resort - eat in selected restaurants with good value for money (lists in the apartments) - avoid on mountain drinks - they have always been expensive! Bring your euros with you - exchange rate through cash machines is very poor. Clem

Great apartment, very clean and well equiped. Owners are on hand and really care about their clients, the personal touch makes all the difference. The location is quiet, but not remote, spectacular views, ski in and ski out if you cross the road. Le Brassero was difficult to ski past though, you might even get to hear Pete play the bongos! The beer and food are great too. We went paragliding which was fun and worth a try. Tignes is a fantastic place to ski, we went to every corner of Tignes and Val d'Isere both on and off piste and would recommend the resort as a destination for all abilities. I have no hesitation in recommending you to stay in Clem and Pete's apartments, you won't go wrong if you do.

Great apartment

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment - big enough for our family of four. Clem provided lots of useful information.

Local facilities were good and the suggested ski hire shop excellent: quality gear and friendly staff.

Tignes is fantastic. The buses are easy into the centre or it is possible to ski down to the lavachet lifts.

We'd return.

Home Club Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice, well appointed, clean apartment in a lovely village, and Clem is really helpful. It is ideally located- you can ski back to the front door and the bus stops right outside to take you to Tignes Le Lac or Val Clarat (It's not far anyhow and we walked most of the time). The skiing is fantastic with loads of places to go on the Espace Killy pass. Lavachet is great too with a good grocers where you can get everything, top bakers, and loads of bars, all with really friendly people and about 100 yards from the front door. We had a great time and will be back.

Tignes Apartment 188

  • 4 of 5

Well located and well equipped apartment for a great holiday in an excellent ski area. Apartment proved very comfortable for our family of four and self catering was easy with the local supermarket less than a minutes walk away. Access to lifts was good, requiring only a very short walk and it was possible to ski right back to the apartment car park. Overall highly recommended. Dave & Angie

All I can say is that this apartment just never dissapoints, Clem was a helpful as ever in the run up to the holiday, the accomodation was spot on again. We had a great time in Le Brassero's amazing apres ski and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, I would recommend this property and resort to anyone, just don't travel there on the snow train its awful, fly its much easier.

Situated at 2100 metres in the main area of Tignes, our village of Le Lavachet is by far the best! It has its own shops and restaurants and is easy to ski back to. There are 2 x 6 seater chairs to whisk you up to the slopes which you can ski down to and they never have any queues! Our village is the quieter area of Tignes and well suited for families.

Golf: The golf in summer is on the Par 68 5000 yard course situated on the meadowed slopes of Tignes. Situated at 2100 metres it is the highest golf course in Europe. The experience of playing golf at this height is amazing as the balls fly for forever due to the thinner air. The wildlife of wild goats and marmots also provide a difference from the local golf course, but best of all are the natural hazards.

Ski: * Tignes ( 2100 metres) is situated close to Val d'Isere and

has a glacier which offers excellent snow conditions all

through the long season from early December right through to

mid May.

* There are many red and blue runs ideal for intermediate skiers

whilst some of the best off-piste and black runs can be found

here in Tignes.
