About Mark Schofield
The Schofield family lived in Spain for twelve years in the Seventies and Eighties and once you've lived in Spain, it never leaves your blood! We now live in the UK and Australia, but get out to Spain whenever we can. (Apart from the Australian branch; it's a long way and they have enough sunshine out there already...) We lived in Madrid but travelled to the coast for our summer holidays, and have been travelling to the area since the early Seventies. We still have friends and many other ties in the area.
Mark Schofield purchased this Villa in 1991
Why Mark Schofield chose Estepona
Villa Mirasierra was built by Mike and Eileen Schofield for their retirement. As such, it was designed for them, from the barbecue shack and private gardens, secluded den, to the open plan kitchen, and the spacious bedrooms. Sadly our parents are no longer with us, and the house has passed on to Siobhain, Mark and Tessa and our families.
What makes this Villa unique
Because Mirasierra is first and foremost a family home, it is extremely spacious for the number of guests it can accommodate. It's located in the El Paraiso valley, which is quiet and secluded for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with plenty of privacy. There are beaches, golf and nightlife all within a short distance, and plenty of bars and restaurants too.

A beautiful and grand looking villa externally and very comfortable and homely inside
The villa is beautiful to look at and has the most magnificent gardens which are so well kept. The interior is very spacious, well furnished, clean, huge amount of storage cupboards, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils and crockery, pots and pans, the only criticism was the lack of wine glasses (only three in the cupboard) so we did have to purchase some ourselves. Outside there are so many beautiful shrubs and trees, amazing colours, the pool was perfect and well attended to, again the only criticism was the lack of any parasols for shade as the terrace gets incredibly hot in the afternoon through to the early evening as it is south facing, which does make it a bit uncomfortable to sit and eat an evening meal outside. Overall a fantastic and relaxing holiday in superb surroundings
Great property. Well situtated, quiet, clean & everything you need
Perfect villa for a family holiday
We spent 1 week at Mirasierra in April as a family of 7 adults and a toddler and it worked very well. It is a quiet location and you can walk to the beach or go inland for some beautiful walks in the countryside. However, for most of the time we were happy to stay in the large garden or by/in the pool which was very well heated, so we could swim as the sun was rising or late in the day. The house is very spacious however, the 4th bedroom has bunkbeds and is rather small but the owner was very helpful and an extra bed was put in the den so it was not a problem. It is very well equipped with a great collection of toys for the toddler and the pool. There is also so many books, it is practically a library.
Met the expectations
We were two families (8 of us) who stayed at this beautiful villa. The facilities both in the house and outside (garden/pool/barbeque) were great. This location is perfect for kids in all ages. There are many good restaurants in walking distance. The owner is polite, reliable and service minded.
We would definitely recommend this villa to everyone and will probably be back here in a few years’ time.
We stayed at this lovely villa with extend family (8 of us plus a baby) and had a wonderful time. There was plenty of room for everyone, the facilities both inside and outside the villa were great couldn't really fault a thing.
Since we have been to the area numerous times before we didn't really venture out much, it was just a nice relaxing holiday for us and we mainly chilled by the pool. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at within walking distance, we would recommend The Golden Sun chinese, Tanino which is across the road and De'Medici an Italian restaurant that was fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this villa and would book again if we come back as group.
A comfortable, spacious and private villa with lovely mature gardens and good sized pool. In good area with plenty of restaurants, sporting activities etc. within walking distance. Recommended for all.
The El Paraiso valley is located midway between Malaga and Gibraltar, and is roughly about 45 minutes' drive from either airport. The area is well established without being over-developed, and very peaceful. There is a full complement of local amenities including restaurants, shops (including supermarkets), car hire, banks etc.
