Beaches and the coast:

There are some stunning beaches within reach of The Chapel. Our favourites include Whitesands beach, Newport Sands, Helscome cove, and Aberforest cove

Coastal sports include kayaking, coasteering and surfing. Newport Golf Club has a 9 hole course with glorious views overlooking the sea, there is also a 18 hole golf course in Haverfordwest. The local yacht clubs can be found in Lower Town and Newport bay, both are great for canoeing, windsurfing and sailing, both clubs offer holiday membership. There are two tennis courts in the near by Dinas village.

Coastal Path and National Park:

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Predominantly coastal, the Park has some of the most beautiful coastline in the UK, Offshore islands, the largest of which is Skomer which is Internationally known for the sea birds and seal populations, the waters around Skomer are one of only two Marine Nature Reserves in the British Isles. The other islands are Skokholm, Ramsey, Grasholm and Caldey, which are all worth a visit and are also full of bird life. The Coastal path covers high cliffs, to long sandy beaches, harbours, dunes and mud flats. In contrast the Gwaun Valley is a delightful area for walking beside the river, which rises, in the Preseli Hills, from where you get amazing views of the coastline. There are also many wonderful walks in the Preseli Hills.

Come to Pembrokeshire in the Spring, the carpet of wild flowers will amaze you, around Strumble Head, also in the hills around Newport. Spring/Summer: you can spend hours watching birds from Puffins to Peregrins and most sea birds in between. Autumn: Beneath the cliffs there are a number of inaccessible beaches were seals give birth to their pups in the autumn months. The Chapel therefore is an ideal base for bird watching, walking, sailing, canoeing, or simply relaxing and enjoying the scenery and beautiful beaches.

Fishguard: can be reached by car, or a 15 minute walk, and has a range of shops including a Spar supermarket, greengrocers, butchers bakers, Market day is THURSDAY and is held in the Town Hall in Fishguard. There are 2 banks:- HSBC and Barclays. Tesco can be found in either Haverfordwest or Cardigan aprox 30 minutes drive. For a special meal out try Ccapan Restaurant in Newport, which is recommended by Egon Ronay, there is also 'The plaice' in the Square in Fishguard,- first class fish dishes, there are also many other restaurants in the area.

Tourist office:

There is a Tourist office situated on the square in Fishguard, where you will be able to find out about the best beaches, walks etc.

About Mrs S Howard

We as a family have had a cottage in Lower Town since 1945 and the third generation still take their holidays there.

Mrs S Howard purchased this house in 1995

Why Mrs S Howard chose Fishguard, Newport, The Preseli Hills & Bluestone

The Chapel is a 4 star accommodation, all bedrooms have their own bathroom, the living area is comfortable and great for entertaining, or just relaxing after a go, go, day in Pembrokeshire. We are within easy reach of some stunning beaches, also the Coastal Path

What makes this house unique

WIFI free usage for all tenants. We have a wonderful view from the balcony over looking the small harbour of Lower Town. The Chapel has kept a lot of the original features, I have owned the Chapel for 25 years, and have loved being there with my family and grandchildren.

Beautiful views and well situated for the coast

  • 4 of 5

We had a fabulous week at Llanfor with something for everyone from our 12 year old to our 80 year old in and around Fishguard. Beautiful views and stunning coastal walks, as well as activities on the doorstep such as kayaking. Llanfor provided a comfortable base where we felt very much at home.

Lovely week, didn't want to leave.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely week in Llanfor, even after a few hiccups initially (and we managed to avoid most of the rain). Lovely coastal walks. We visited many local coves, beaches and towns. We saw two seals, one in Goodwick and one in Porthgain. We had some takeaways from Fishguard town, although there is everything that you could possibly need in the chapel (to home cook, etc). The chapel has a lovely homely feeling. We are missing the views already. A visit to The Ship pub is a must, very friendly locals. The bed in the top bedroom is very comfortable with luxurious bedding. Our first visit to Wales has left a lasting impression and I am sure that we will be back very soon.

Our wonderful weekend at Llanfor

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay at LLanfor last weekend! We chose fishguard as it was an ideal location to meet with family who live in the UK, as we live in West Cork.

Not only was LLanfor the perfect home in which two families could stay very comfortably, we found Fishguard to be a delightful and friendly town.

The trip couldn’t have been more successful and we will be in touch again shortly to book our next holiday!

Highly recommended

Spacious, comfortable, tastefully furnished. We loved the well equipped kitchen and the views from the balconies. The location is stunning - right on the quayside. We enjoyed not needing to use the car - a short walk into Fishguard, a beautiful walk along the coastal path to Dinas Head, and happy hours playing games and reading books in the chapel or people and boat watching on the estuary. 3 large double bedrooms - plenty of room for 6 people so we didn't feel on top of each other.
