Enjoy the privacy of the secluded Alpenglow Chalet nestled in a scenic hillside clearing above Homer that opens up into spectacular views of Kachemak Bay, the famous Homer Spit, and the snow-capped mountains and glaciers of the Kenai Peninsula - a truly memorable and unique Alaskan experience!
Alpenglow Chalet is an 1800 sq ft custom tri-level chalet-style home built in 1998 and newly acquired and remodeled in 2005. Upscale furnishings, new porcelain tile and wood floors are accented throughout by natural pine beams, ceilings, walls, and trim. Total sleeping space accommodates 12 comfortably: a queen size bedroom set is on each of three levels, and first level futons sleeper sofas sleep another 6 .
The chalet can be rented in 3 different ways - lower level , upper 2 levels, or the whole chalet.
The charming upper 3rd level loft overlooks the spacious 2nd level living/dining room with its 20ft vaulted ceiling. The second level is also handicap accessible. The lower 1st level family room opens onto the expansive acre of lawn bordered by native Sitka roses and a forest of birch and pine trees. Sightings of moose, eagles, bear, and other wildlife abound. Large picture windows and a wrap-around deck offer spectacular views from any level.
Alpenglow Chalet is an ideal retreat for families, small groups, and workshops, or simply a luxurious place to celebrate a special occasion - wedding , anniversary or birthday!
Homer and the surrounding Kenai Peninsula offer tourist activities for all throughout the seasons. Spring brings out the beautiful and colorful wild flowers, the many species of birds during the annual Homer Shorebird Festival, and fishing. Summer activities are endless – hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, clamming, rafting, kayaking, and boating tours to view whales, birds, bears, marine life, glaciers, and more! Fall is berry picking and fishing, of course! And don’t forget winter – cross country skiing, snowmobiling, skating and more fishing!
My husband and I stayed only one night at this fabulous chalet and certainly wished that we could have stayed longer. It is set up on a hill with a beautiful view overlooking Homer, Kachemak Bay and the mountains beyond. The owners are lovely and accommodating. Recognizing that we were exhausted from having slept only a few hours at the Fairbanks airport the night before they very generously upgraded us to the main apartment at no extra charge. What a nice gesture and so much appreciated. This apartment is stupendous. It has a large living area with picture windows facing the water and mountains beyond. The owner has a green thumb and there are beautiful plants in the windows and climbing the beams. The kitchen is modern with everything you need to cook full meals. The bed is very comfortable and the bedroom window coverings effectively block the 4:30A.M. sunrise. The bathroom has ample space and a great shower. The entire space is immaculately clean. The yard was freshly mowed with pretty plants and flowers. The deck is a great place to sip wine and enjoy the view. There is a BBQ grill and table and chairs where you could even eat dinner. Overall this is a lovely home which we highly recommend. Thank you so much Liz.
We had a great weekend stay at the Alpenglow. Liz and Rich were very accommodating when our arrival wasn't until very late. The chalet was very pleasant for two couples to stay in, allowing for privacy and separate bathrooms. The loft would be somewhat difficult to sleep in during the summer due to the light coming in the windows :) Liz was also very sweet when we realized we left one of our pillows at the chalet and asked her to hold it until the next weekend when we'd be back!
Sweet setup high atop Homer's hills, overlooking the Spit, Kachemak Bay, and Aleutian Mountain Range. Well-kept chalet affords visitors many amenities and plenty of room for catching all of the great views. We had two families of four (parents + teens), plus visiting parents of one family. All loved the accommodations and experience. Great for many different groups of people + pets. Our dogs had room to sleep and room to run in the yard. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
Thank you Liz and Rich for a wonderful vacation at the Alpenglow. The loft was the best with a view that couldn't be beat. Relaxing, rewarding, fun. We will be back!!!! Thanks
We stayed at the chalet on 8/21. It was comfortable, well equipped, & tastefully decorated. It has a nice view across Katchemak Bay & is conveniently located.

Beautifully and thoughtfully furnished - a single traveler would be as comfortable here as a family of 6. Light and spacious - spectacular views from top two levels - lovely garden/woods view from lower level.
