The property was exactly as described. The bedroom on the ground floor was ideal for my teenage daughter and her friend to have a bit of freedom without disturbing the grandparents and parents upstairs so a bonus if you are travelling with mixed age groups. Also, for anyone who found the stairs up to the property a slog, they could be accommodated in this room and save any further climb! the view is spectacular whatever the weather and the morning sunshine hits the balcony for breakfast. The house was clean on arrival and there is more than enough kitchen equipment for a large group. We used the dining table and found yet more cutlery in the dresser there too. Noise doesn't travel in the house which is great so people getting up and going to bed at different times wasn't a problem with regards to disturbing others. The parking was ok for our group as the elder family had their car on the large space outside and the rest of us parked up the hill out of the restricted parking bit. One of our family members would have liked larger towels and shelving in their shower for shampoo bottles but the rest of us were more than happy. The water pressure is great for a proper power shower too. It was a pleasure to deal with the Willis's from initial enquiry through to arrival instructions. Dartmouth is a great place to holiday and there are plenty of boat trips (Totnes, Salcolme, Dittisham etc), the steam railway, local scenic beaches and Dartmoor within a short drive and good local restaurants. We enjoyed the Cherub Inn best for the quality of the food and the quaintness of the very old building plus the real ale on offer. I would recommend this house and the location to everyone (unless walking and stairs are a problem) as it is far enough out the town for peace and quiet but with plenty to look at from the balcony as all the boats sail by.
Very well equipped kitchen. Powerful showers. Great views. Ample room for 8 people.
This property has a fantastic location on a quaint street, set upon a slight hill with breath-taking views and within walking distance of the main shopping area. It is the perfect location to relax and unwind. We visited other nearby areas such as Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and this was so easy to do by car, however, I have to say Dartmouth was our favourite place out of the ones we visited and we would definitely return to this property.
In regards to 'The Moorings' accommodation, what can I say, firstly, the property is of a very high standard, well maintained, with a lovely sitting out area to enjoy the fantastic views of the river Dart. The bedrooms are spacious with quality furnishings and comfortable beds. This property provides everything you need to enjoy your stay. Dealing with Valerie (the owner) was a real pleasure, she was prompt in responding to any correspondence we submitted and was very professional and polite. A bond is payable, which you would expect to pay, but I can honestly say this was returned quickly (within days) upon vacating the property. Information leaflets on where to go and what to do are available at the property which we also found useful.
If you are considering booking this property, go ahead and do it, you will not regret it. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at 'The Moorings' and if the chance came again to visit Dartmouth, we would not hesitate to book this property again based on the very high standard of accommodation, location and professionalism of the owner. Thank you for the perfect holiday. Kind regards: Moira, Nigel, Doug & Daylene (Saudi Arabia).
Stayed with 8 other members of my family for 4 nights over New Year 2011/2012. The property is both large enough and equiped enough to cater for large groups. Plenty of seating and bathrooms + the kitchen is very well stocked. The steps up to the front door may cause problems for some but the views when you get there are well worth it. My 71 year old sister who is recovering from cancer made the climb at least once a day. There are wonderful walks around and Blackpool beach is a gem,we were there on New Years day. it is also a nice fairly level( the odd slope) walk into Dartmouth. Thre is parking for a large car outside the property and some limited parking on the road, we parked all but one car elsewhere to save problems. The owners are easy to contact, very helpful and my deposit was returned within a couple of days of our return. This is a lovely house in a fantastic area
Just returned from a week's holiday with our 3 grown-up daughters and partners, in this wonderful homely, well equipped accommodation. Everything we read and saw on the website was exactly how it is. Very clean and comfortable, with fantastic views from almot every window. The weather was superb and spent a lot of time just relaxing on the verandah, and taking in the spectacular views. We loved the walks - particularly the coastal paths and walking to Blackpool Sands. Dartmouth itself, with everything it has to offer, is just a 10 minute stroll away. A truely memorable holiday.
We have just returned from a very enjoyable and relaxing weeks holiday at the property, we have also stayed there several times previously. The house is exactly as advertised on the web site and is very well equiped and spacious and the river view from the house and balcony spectacular. Everthing was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Although the weather was quite cold at times the house was always warm and welcoming and would be ideal for a holiday at any time of the year. The property is very well positioned and is about a 10 minute fairly level walk into the centre of Dartmouth where there are shops and restaurants to suit every need, we did not use the car at all during our stay. There are numourous walks directly from the house, our favourates being to the Castle and Little Dartmouth or taking the ferry over to Kingwear for walks along the River to Greenway Gardens or towards Brixham.
I would thorougly recommend this property for anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing break in this beautiful part of Devon
