The prestigious Ile Saint Louis, with its very elegant 17th and 18th century historical mansions (inhabited then by Poet Charles Beaudelaire, Marquise du Chatelet...etc, restored by the Barons of Rotschild) is also like a small village in the very center of Paris (it is also part of the historical Marais), with many cafes, restaurants, creperies, unique cheese shop, butcher, wine shops. pharmacy, post office, boutiques....etc and the famous Bertillon Icecreams on our street.

You'll enjoy taking a stroll along the Seine as the sun rises or sets and you'll become enchanted.

On one side of the island of Ile St Louis is St Germain and on the other side is Le Marais.

This SPACIOUS one bedroom apartment (55m2 -size of a 2 bedrooms-) with 1 1/2 bath is a true 1 bedroom and not a converted studio with a 'loft' - it is for people who value their comfort - it is not cluttered, has a very good floor plan and wood-beamed ceilings. It is one floor up in an 18th century building with large elevator, at the quiet end of the charming main street of Ile Saint Louis- away from the noise of the boutiques and restaurants.

This apartment and the common areas of the building were completely restored 10 years ago to the highest standards. The apartment is beautifully furnished, very well appointed and also free of clutter to make the stay easy, pleasant and comfortable - it has new appliances, linens, china..etc. and a fully equipped kitchen -

Very thick stone walls ensure that the apartment is well insulated from summertime heat as well as wintertime cold.

Serene outlook onto trees. Perennial plants bloom in our window boxes. Lovely antique tile entry hall and landscaped interior courtyard. The apartment floors are light beige Italian limestone tiles with rugs, with carpet in bedroom .

Bedroom has large closets, and a very comfortable king-size bed. Living room has quality sofas -with custom-made throws - one is a queen size sofa bed - a flat screen TV stereo, cable w/CNN, BBC...etc. Dining table seats six people in the open plan dining room with breakfast bar. Office area with desk, phone with answering machine, WIFI internet all included.

Bathroom has BATHTUB and fixed shower, heated towel rack, marble counter top, Italian tile floor, hair dryer.

Separate toilet room.

Walking distance to all major attractions - Ile de la Cite, Notre Dame, La Conciergerie, open markets, Left Bank, St Germain, Latin Quarters, Right Bank, Le Marais , Picasso museum, BHV Department store, Les Halles, Pompidou Center, La Bastille and its Opera, Le Louvre.

Round the corner, you can also take the 87 bus to Eiffel Tower, or the 86 to Saint Germain.

Near 4 Metro stations (Cite, Sully Morland, Pont Marie, St Paul) - the metro lines take you directly to Le Louvre, Opera Garnier, Champs Elysees & the major Dept. Stores...etc.

Three bus lines are at the corner -

RER takes you directly from/to the airport, to Versailles Palace....etc (we can also arrange a car service)

This is an apartment in a fabulous central location, exclusive and magical, surrounded by the river Seine, with historical architecture buildings right on our street, six very charming bridges, the church of Saint Louis, a tranquil apartment with an open view.

Many galleries, restaurants, creperies, bakeries, butchers, unique cheese shop, grocerie stores, bookstore & boutiques in next block of our street.

Living like a well-heeled local

I arrived at the apartment building by shuttle from CDG; the keys for entering the building and the apartment had been sent to me well before I left, together with very clear instructions. The elevator is spacious and efficient. The apartment is one flight up.

Once inside, the space and layout were ideal. The fitted kitchen is efficient and well-equipped. The living room was large with two full-sized sofas (one of which makes into a bed) and a modern television and media equipment. The instructions to operate all the options were well-explained and documented. The two windows in the living room allow plenty of natural light. Additionally there is a dining set adjacent to the kitchen service/bar and a comfortable desk/work space. If you are as "connected" as my friend and I are, rest assured there are plenty of outlets all over the apartment--but bring plug adapters if your chargers and connectivity items only have North American plugs.

The bedroom has a very comfortable bed; the closet with built in drawers and adjacent shelves was unobstructed except for the extra bedding for the sofa-bed and additional covers to accommodate varying needs for night time warmth. There was a good supply of hangers provided which made unpacking very simple.

The bathroom is divided: the main bath has a tub/shower combination and a generous counter area and sink. Again, there is plenty of storage space for all your toiletries. A hair dryer is thoughtfully provided as well. The toilet and an additional lavatory are in a separate room at the entrance to the apartment.

The full-size washer AND separate dryer make clothing care very simple. The apartment had detergent and for the washer and softener sheets for the dryer provided. The "Refresh" cycle on the dryer worked wonders with the sweaters I had packed.

Although there were only two of us in the apartment, it could have accommodated an additional person or two without a problem. It was very gratifying that Marie-Jeanne stayed in contact with us the entire time to make sure all was going well. She is a terrific hostess.

The apartment is close to restaurants and shops; It was a very easy walk to the Sully-Morland metro station which lets you stroll by your elegant neighbor, the Hôtel Lambert.

My friend and I were there for 1 week. It was a great experience. It is now my default lodging in Paris.

Central location on a quiet street on the Ile St-Louis, with easy access to the city in all directions. The apartment itself is clean, convenient, attractive, and comfortable, and the owners were helpful in providing keys and information. I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely place in a great location!

Our family of four enjoyed a week in this great apartment- this was our third time renting an apartment on Ile St Louis and this was my favorite. Contact with the owner was perfect and plenty of instructions and local restaurant recommendations were provided too. We love this location - you are right in the middle of the city on quiet streets with transportation, the river and plenty to do right from your doorstep. With her referral we also arranged for a car to pick us up from the airport and take us directly to the apartment- really worth it when arriving after long flights.

The apartment itself had a spacious main room with marble tile floors, a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of linens and a modern bathroom with separate toilet room- great when you are a party of four. The teens slept on the sofa bed without any problems. Washer and dryer meant we packed less and had room for our shopping! It was very clean, and had nice light from windows and is in a secure building. We will be looking for this apartment next time we return to Paris!

Home Away From Home

After a busy day there's nothing better than going home. That's what it's like when you stay at this beautiful, modern apartment. Rather than going to a small hotel room in Paris, you can relax in a spacious one bedroom apartment, that is centrally located in the heart of Paris. Walk over the bridge and you are either on the left or right bank of the Seine, in close proximity to many of the city's most famous sites. However, if you just want to stay on the island, there are many food shops and excellent restaurants. The owner, Marie-Jeanne, is the perfect host, available if you need her. We have been to many VRBO properties over the last 20 years, and highly recommend this one!

Wonderful, good-sized apartment in the heart of Paris on Ile de la Cite.

This rental was a wonderful find. It is just a couple minutes walk from Notre Dame and other major Paris attractions. Great shops and restaurants on the same street, with even more just around the corner. I would definitely stay there again.
