About Michael and Shannon Kearney

We had visited Nashville for 13 years to spend time with a son who had located here because of the music industry. We fell in love with the city; it's great music, good food and beautiful scenery made every trip a memorable one. When the first son 'made it' and the second son followed; it didn't take us long to pack up and move east. We took one look at this beautiful house in the historic Little Hollywood neighborhood and 3 days later we were the new owners. We spent 4 months extensively remodeling this 75 year old beauty and now we are ready to show it off.

We have traveled extensively and also worked in the hospitality industry so we know what it takes to make a vacation a memorable one. We will do our best to make sure that your stay is a comfortable one. Please let us know how we can help.

Michael and Shannon Kearney purchased this house in 2013

Why Michael and Shannon Kearney chose Lockeland Springs

The Little Hollywood name for our neighborhood is because of the dozen or so mission style houses that were built from 1930 to 1940. The first floor of our house was the Little Hollywood music studio until just a few years ago. Miss Lillian who has lived across the street for 52 years describes many a warm night when beautiful songs would drift across the street from our veranda.

The location draws attention because it sits on .6 of an acre close to the Shelby Golf Course. It's a serene setting that invites serene walks and a quiet nap yet it's located with a few minutes walk from the action.

What makes this house unique

A one of a kind fully restored historic home in a wonderful location, you will love the outdoor fireplace and veranda. Walking distance to great restaurants, bars and shopping.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Out visit to Nashville was a wonderful experience and greatly enhanced by our accommodations at 1804 Lakehurst Drive!

Upon approaching the home exclamations of "oooh and aaah" were communicated as the property is a prime example of curbside appeal. The landscaping was tailored and well chosen for the lot and the aesthetics of the house exuded a warm Southern hospitable welcome.

The interior was immaculate and tastefully appointed yet charming and cozy. We absolutely loved the kitchen and enjoyed our morning wake-up around the spacious island. And then there is the veranda ... absolutely outstanding and the perfect place to sip wine and reminisce friendships. Spending time there was the highlight of our day and added a spectacular dimension to an already outstanding piece of real estate.

Jess, the neighbor looking after the house, was especially helpful and one evening she and her musical partner graced us with their voices and guitar in a private concert. Nashville overflows with musical talent and we felt very lucky to experience it in our "own back yard" so to speak.

I highly recommend staying here as your relaxation will be more than you asked for during the time you spend at this gem in Little Hollywood!

My family was in town for the weekend and this property was amazing. Although rainy, we enjoyed the day on the veranda.

Peaceful retreat in the best part of East Nashville

  • 5 of 5

I live in East Nashville, but I was hosting a high-school ladies' reunion and needed housing for them, so this was a stay-cation for me (the others were from all over North America). I knew the location would be great since I'm familiar with the neighborhood, and the patio has always looked invitingly serene to me, but the house far exceeded my expectations. The host supplied everything to make us feel welcome, and he made sure our stay was everything we hoped for. I could not have been more pleased with our stay. Thank you, Michael!

4 moms on a vacation weekend

  • 2 of 5

I have pros and cons. This house has a lot of charm. The veranda was a favorite place to gather after walking and getting coffee in the morning. The neighborhood was active, with plenty of cute dogs and friendly pedestrians, while still a quick UBER to everything Nashville has to offer.

We were a little anxious arriving after dark to a wide open lock box, with keys resting in plain site. We did a thorough check of the house, though, and all seemed fine.

At departure, I texted Michael what a great time we had and let him know that the lock box appeared to be broken. I didn't hear back from him until the next day, when I received an email indicating they had opted to keep half of the our deposit. The notes at the bottom of the message indicated I was being charged for a makeup spot on a blanket in the master bedroom.

This was really disheartening. With no specific check out instructions, we took extra time in the morning to collect towels, take out the trash and do everything we could to show the house was loved and treated with TLC. Michael said he tried to bleach the stain twice but was unable to get it removed. I personally don't own any products I put on my face or body that are unable to be washed off and the bed was only used for sleeping.

I decided not to reply to his claim or challenge it. I want to remember all the great things about Nashville, and am disappointed to say this house will not be one of them.

Owner's Response: I share our guest's disheartening feeling, this is the first negative review we have ever received. I am sorry about the lock box. Admittedly, it was weathered and getting hard to operate, it was locked when we left the house, so I'm not sure what happened. It has been replaced with a new box with a waterproof cover. I apologize for any anxiety the open box may have caused our guest. As for the bedding, I don't know what caused the stain but it was prominent and couldn't be removed. We had never made a claim against a guest's security deposit previously so when I submitted the claim I didn't realize that VRBO's new security deposit policy would automatically refund the damage amount to me and the difference to the guest without any discussion. When I submitted the damage claim I didn't send the guest an email as she indicates in her review, it was generated automatically by VRBO as part of their new policy. Now that I know that, in the future I will contact the guest first and explain the circumstances and attempt to work out an amicable solution. We are truly sorry this was not a positive experience for our guest.

Beautiful house, great neighborhood!

  • 4 of 5

We had 3 couples share this house. It's stocked with everything you could possibly need, the veranda is the perfect place to relax, and the location is minutes away from the best places to eat, drink, and be merry. With three couples and 3 very different bedrooms, we decided to rotate each night to make it fair. The master is gorgeous but the exposure of the master bath/toilet is a little unnerving. An extra pocket door or something for privacy would be ideal. We had a terrific time and called this "home" for 4 days and meant it!

The house was so lovely that we had to pull ourselves away to go see Nashville! The owners' welcome packet was full of great neighborhood recommendations. I would return in a heartbeat!
