Stay and experience a cozy little cabin/cottage....This is an authentic, reconstructed cabin for will charm your socks to mention the grounds of the Enchanted Garden. This is the sight where Jack Johnson trained for the fight of the century in 1910, against the Great White Hope, Jim Jeffries. Also, the site of the infamous WILLOW'S, one of the first gaming houses in Nevada in 1929. Today, it has been lovingly recreated. During spring and summer, as an english garden, the grounds are ideal for family reunions, wedding's and special buff's, fishermen, boxing fan's and gardening affectionado's!
The tiny little cabin/cottage is located three blocks from the famous Truckee river with miles of hiking and biking trails. Fly fishing and rafting are popular activites found nearby.. One small pet is ok!
Tim and joan have created a warm and inviting environment that is unique to many tastes and interests. From gardening affectionado's, to history buffs.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1999
This is a historic property with many stories to tell. The Elam's have created a home, garden and grounds that you will find truely enchanting from your cozy little cabin/ cottage that exudes all the charm of times gone by.
Situated close to downtown Reno and only blocks away from the Truckee River, guests will find several parks within bicycling and walking distance. During the spring and summer months, couples will enjoy many activities being held along the river, such as river rafting, fishing, swimming and special events. There are many fine restuarants along the river corridor and in the emerging MidTown District.
Tim and Joanie are wonderful hosts. The Enchanted Garden property is whimsical and full of sweet delights. We were in town for a wedding and were grateful to have a cozy home base. I can only imagine what it would be like in warmer weather to take advantage of being in the garden. As another reviewer noted, you are situated on a thoroughfare so if you are sensitive to road noise, use earplugs or a white noise machine. As my husband is tall (6'1") he needed to sleep on an angle in the bed so slept in the loft and I slept downstairs. The beds are very comfortable! Raley's Market is very close for any provisions.
enjoyed our stay at the property over Memorial Day. Quaint and quirky place, lots of fun, hosts welcoming and accommodating, recommend highly
Me and my girlfriend came to Reno to experience the beautiful outdoors of the surrounding area, but when we got to Tim and Joan's enchanted garden, it was hard to leave the city! The cabin was hand-built by Tim with predominantly recycled materials, and houses an incredible antique collection that really adds to the rustic feel. With hiking trails along the river only minutes away, and downtown (for those visiting for the night life) so close, it felt like we were in the heart of the city, while still having the quiet small-town vibe of cities like Bend or Ashland. Other reviewers have written about Tim and Joan's hospitality, and for good reason. They are some of the sweetest folks I've met in a long time, full of good recommendations and pieces of the regions history. All in all we loved our stay and are planning on coming back soon!
Tim and Joan were the ultimate hosts. We loved every minute of our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. When you walk through the garden gates, you enter into another world... a truly enchanted world. It was a winter wonderland! I hope I can return to experience every other season on this enchanted property. Thank you so much, Tim and Joan!
We arrived late after a long wet drive over the mountains and having a nice warm cottage with music playing was exactly what we needed! The cottage is very cool, has great character and very comfy for the size. It's location is great and made it very easy for us to get around Reno quickly. Thanks!
We rented this property to vacation in Reno with three of our five fur babies. This was our first time in Reno and this place was perfect! The cottage certainly gave the feeling like we were living in a fairytale. Tim and Joan were superb hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed upon arrival. They generously accomodated our three dogs, especially because one of them (our Huksy) is huge! They were attentive when problems arose, and Tim came out to show us the breakers when the power went out (possibly due to the cold winter nights.. which also brought an ice cold shower the first night). We enjoyed sitting by the firepit welcoming the new year, but mostly we were just revived by the beautiful setting and completely peaceful atmosphere. This cabin has a great location to explore the area, but we never even left the cabin in the four days we were there.. it was that awesome! Just a warning to those light sleepers: this cottage is on a semi busy street, so you can hear traffic noise through the night. Our only regret was that we had just missed the snow showers (we wanted it to fall while we were there), but we still got to enjoy the snow. We also loved playing with the resident pooch, Vinny, who was always eager to play with us. So glad we found the Cottage at the Enchanted Garden. My fiancee and kids loved it, especially our Husky who finally got to experience the snow. We will definitely return.
