The location and views from the long terrace are excellent. It is a good place to sit and have a drink. There is a communal pool and shared washing machine. There is ample parking nearby which is useful as you need a car to get around and shop - best shops back towards Galdar.
The apartments are quite basic and in need of some TLC and repair. The cleaner did her best to clean but this is a difficult task when the accommodation is quite run down. We had an issue with ants that had nested in the gaps in the sealant around the kitchen benching. We were given some insecticide but this is not the type of thing you need to be using in the area where you prepare and cook food. We were also asked not to put loo paper down the toilet (not an issue in itself as this is a common practice in Greece) the bin provided had no lid so there is a serious health issue here. The apartments need decorating, fitments and furnishings need upgrading and the furnishings need replacing - chairs and seat covers were badly stained. I also found the wifi to be unreliable. Sometimes not available and sometimes lost it whilst using it. One evening someone used the tumble drier and blew the fuses plunging half the site into darkness
If you can cope with the basic facilities and very rustic accommodation Adaete is a very beautiful place and a good base for walking - up the mountain into the national parks is highly recommended as the scenery is stunning and so different from the costal scenery. From the terrace the views down the coast are magnificent. There are several local restaurants and bars.
The staff are very friendly and genuine people though I felt they were fighting a loosing battle with the general maintenance of the site.
I would not use this accommodation again unless it had been updated and refurbished - then it would be a stunning place to stay.
This was our first stay at El Angosto and our first visit to Gran Canaria. My wife and I booked 12 nights in one of the small apartments as a base for exploring the north of the island. The location is quiet with lovely views of the town, the mountains and the coast. The gardens, pool and communal barbecue area are exceptional with mature trees for shade and several places to sit and enjoy the views. The apartment was basic but adequate for two people - a third would have to sleep on a settee. Next time we will book a medium apartment as they are much larger and more comfortable. We would recommend El Angosto to anyone looking for a walking, site seeing, or relaxing holiday away from the crowded resorts of the south.
For us, it was perfect! Unlike the mass tourism in the island's south in Agaete you're really with the locals. The apartment complex is super quiet, has great views over the sea and we loved sitting in the garden drinken rosé while the sun was setting. The swimming pool is rather large for such a small complex, and we loved the guy who was running the place. Very helpful indeed. As they say on their website, the apartments aren't new, but ours was very clean indeed. Though, if you want "new" you better go somewhere else. We loved this cosy place and we'll surely be back, we spent a perfect two weeks on a great side of Gran Canaria. And I haven't even mentioned the fresh fish restaurants and the laid back attitude of the locals and the views of Tenerife... My wife and I loved the place and had a great time! Oh yes, if you need or need to know anything, just tell the guy who works there, he's very helpful and knows the island really well we found out.
We had a great holiday at El Angosto. Agaete is a perfect base for a walking holiday far away from the crowds. It is a friendly welcoming place.
The apartments are in a great location high up overlooking the town, port, sea and mountains. The garden and terrace are filled with wonderful flowers and it is perfect to sit out there in the evenings looking out over the sea. The pool is good (if a bit cold) and never crowded. Everyone we met was cheerful and friendly. There is a lovely evening walk down steps to the baranco and then along the promenade by the sea to the beach. The beach is rocky with some sand. Snorkelling is fantastic and we saw lots of interesting fish.
There is an internet hotspot out on the terrace and we suggest you bring your laptop. There is a computer provided as well, although the shift key did not work when we tried it which is a bit limiting. Internet speed is good. We had satellite TV and had no trouble in finding over 500 channels. Most channels are in German and we only found one in English.
You should understand that these apartments are not new and have seen better days. However, we were perfectly comfortable there. Cooking is on 2 rings. We had a coffee maker and a large fridge/freezer. There is a shared microwave. There is a shared washing machine and drying racks are provided. Linen and towels are provided and if you want clean ones, just ask.
You will need a hire car here and the motorway starts at the end of the road. There is an excellent supermarket one junction along the motorway.
Overall, this is a really nice place and a great out of the way location for exploring the island. It is run by nice friendly people. It is old and a bit worn out, but who cares. Just sit out on the terrace with a glass of wine and relax.
Small apartment resort near the little fisherman’s village Agaete, very quiet, far away from main-stream tourism, nice views, sea view, a lot of possibilities to walk in the Agaete valley and up to Tamadaba natural park, only 1500m to the ferry harbour with connection to Tenerife.
